ENDOCANNABINOIDS/HYPERMOBILITY AND HEMP

“When the world says to give up, some people make their own miracles”.

What a fabulous sharing weekend I have had.  Thank you all for coming along on Saturday and Sunday. Once again we went over the fundamentals of the human body, how important, funamental  the endocannabinoid system was to our health and yoga, and how it all fitted together.

The more I read, the more I experience, the more I study, the more I am convinced that the endocannabinoid system is the key.  I am sure when you really get into it you will also start to join the dots. We watched the DVD “LePassage de l’epiderme” recorded to explain the connective tissue for plastic surgeons by Dr. Jean-Claude Guimberteau, MD.  Stunning.  It shows in great detail how the collagen operates in the body, what the connective tissue is, looks like, and works.  How important it is for yogis (for everybody).

I feel like the mother in “Lorenzo’s Oil” – seeing the relationship between the symptoms and the cause, getting a glimmer of how it can be changed with a simple ingredient,  and as usual, going against the tide.  I believe the simple ingredient that can help us understand hypermobility, is hemp in all its forms. I am learning just as you are.  My advice.  Keep an open mind and explore (even extending this to your pets). Don’t be part smart. Be brave enough to put your head above the parapet.

I am writing more and more, and changing my diet towards hemp.  It is not as depressing as drinking gallons of celery juice, and not about doing away with the nice things in life.  Adding hemp to your diet is adding taste, not taking it away.  Read my books.  Go to www.myyogabooks.etsy.com.

Please understand that when we look towards hemp and the endocannabinoid system, we are working towards changing the cause of health problems, not just hoping to rid ourselves of the symptoms.  That is where yoga differs from fitness style exercise too.  Yoga is a complete system, fitness is a temporary fix.  Satisfying but temporary.

Once you start to research Hemp, and look at the work of  Nobel Prize winner Elizabeth Blackburn on Telomeres and Ageing, you will find a new way of thinking about ageing and health.  We have briefly covered it in our studies of hypermobility.  Ageing and death are facts of life, but how we live, up the last day, is not.    Once current, predominant, scientific view of human ageing,  is that as we age, the DNA of our cells become progressively more damaged.  This causes our cells to become irreversibly aged, and they become dysfunctional.

The how and the why’s of this DNA damage isn’t known yet, however, there are studies on the role of telomeres (the protectors of our chromosomes)  as a major culprit.  Telomeres shorten and shed as we age – it is exciting to know that we can reverse this attrition.  Yoga, meditation and nutrition are the keys.  With regards to nutrition, we need balanced Omega 3 and 6, with Omega 9, plus the antioxidants.  Your body requires omegas 3 and 6 in correct balance to keep the telomeres and the cell structure fluid and healthy.  The less your telomeres decline the less likely you are to decline into the disease span and an earlier than necessary death.  A great source of nutrition with balanced omegas 3 and 6, as well as 9, and a huge plant protein shot, leading to a reduced level of oxidative stress and inflammation is – you guessed it – HEMP!

DON’T FORGET THE MASSAGE COURSE COMING UP IN AUGUSTwe have postponed this due to the fact that we have been approached by an English Examination and Registering body who would like us to deliver the course under their qualification, and receive an INTERNATIONAL certificate for our stent on graduation.  It seemed a good way  to go if it can be achieved.

MONTHLY TEACHER TRAINING AT THE HOME STUDIO:

DATE of the next Teacher Training:   Sunday 4thAugust 2pm to 4pm  at my home studio (37 Morris Road in Woodend.   There is no need to book. Bring writing materials, and be early. If you are teacher Training student then the cost of the afternoon is $20. This fee applies to everyone. (Visitors are welcome – even those not yet in teacher training – $30).

BENDIGO Teacher Training classes Next class is the 6thAugust at 3.30pm. Crusoeden Health.  Turn at the Metricon building on the highway in Kangaroo Flat just up from Bunnings on the same side.  Don’t forget, The HEMP information session is happening at Crusoeden Body on Sunday at 2.30pm to 4pm.

NEXT SHEPPARTON MASTERCLASS.  Date not decided.

WERRIBEE MASTER CLASS.  I have been asked to conduct a Restorative/Hypermobility Master Class in Werribee.  This will be held on Sunday the 20thOctober, which is the soonest we could get our diaries to align… such is life.

We are your lineage.  You can pretend, you can take cheaper options, you can use all kinds of rationalization BUT WE ARE YOUR LINEAGE, your yoga family. No-one else can be.   PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION.  You need to be currently registered AT THE LEVEL AT WHICH YOU ARE NOW – STUDENT OR GRADUATE for your insurance to be valid, and you will need to supply a copy of a valid registration to be insured with AON.  If you insure as a graduate when you are still a student it may cause problems if there ever was a claim – it is possible you may not be insured because you didn’t tell the truth about your qualification.    You also need to forward a current first aid certificate with your application and CPE when necessary (see below)

 

Please check your insurance requirements (we DO NOT INSURE YOU – neither do we notify your health benefit funds – keep up to date. We have moved to AON insurance.  You will be able to insure on-line BUT you will need a current (student or graduate) Registration to prove you are a member with us to get the advantages that a big firm like AON can offer.

 

CPE:  To bring us in line with INTERNATIONAL requirements rather than just Australian, we will only be requiring you to do your CPE every 3 years, do it round about the same time you do your first aid which is also a 3 year requirement.
