This is not a pretty newsletter – it is NEWS.  It is written to help you do your job. Please read it, please take notes, please take action.

We have been notifying you from the beginning that there may be problems with the videos as we change over to our new site. We have done everything we can to overcome any problems, and for the time being (until we have unscrambled them) we have made them easily available through a link which we have emailed to you. The one thing we can’t do is log them for you – however, as we said in the very first email pack I sent you, you should be taking record of everything yoga you are doing every day under the various headings in a spring folder. This includes the videos, otherwise how can you keep track of the time you are spending on techniques, philosophy etc.

So get out the folder every day, and start recording. Then monthly, transfer it to your passport. One line, in each subject each month. So if you watch the philosophy video for 15 minutes, that is contact hours 15 mins, and philosophy 15 minutes. Backtracking is hard (and not necessary if you have been following our instructions).

….recently ran a story about fitness training. Seems that gyms are closing, and 24 hour gyms are getting bigger. Personal Trainers are still getting good incomes, and for the next 5 years their incomes will be going up. How is your income?

The message for yoga teachers is this – SPECIALISE… specialty yoga teachers – Restorative, Yin, Kids, Restore and Rehab etc etc. are doing well. Yoga teachers who rely on the classes they have been teaching for years will notice them declining – I hear it everywhere. My advice. SPECIALISE. Do more training in the area you would like to work in, and gradually this will replace your general classes. That is why big yoga schools are OK. They have specialty teachers, and lots of them. In a word. SPECIALISE…

It is increasingly my focus (my speciality) and  I am inviting you to join me.

Would you like to do what I do? This is a special and growing area and I am giving great thought to teaching teachers what I know – how I teach.

There are many people working in this area who have little or no experience in teaching. They get back into the system because they have recovered and want to give back to the system that has helped them. That is their experience, and I for one cannot replicate that, BUT I do have 50 years of teaching experience. If I can teach people who want to work in the area, who have the experience of recovery – they will make fabulous support workers, or yoga teachers in this area.

Even yoga teachers who haven’t experienced addiction need this teaching, as at the present the statistic is that 60% of the population are addicts. Hard drugs, prescribed medications, alcohol (a “biggie”), nicotine. So 6 out of 10 people standing in front of you have the possibility of being addicted. Even if you can’t see this, even if you can’t recognize what is in front of you they need special help, special understanding – people don’t wear placards saying “I am an addict – please help me!”.

Do you want to help? Training to help you to help them is the answer…. I am going to be offering this soon.

You may have seen this on my FACEBOOK PAGE, and in the last weeks newsletter… Please help if you can. The BIKE SHED, Macedon Vic.  are aiming to fix 50 bikes for vulnerable families by the end of winter, helping break a viscous cycle and they need help on Thursday mornings.   Call Lara a call on 0424 599 168 or Bronwyn on 0409 284 141 for more info, or just show up on a Thursday morning to join in!

The Bike Shed, The Smith Family, The Food Bank etc etc… we all need your help. It is hard to give to everything, however, we are your Institute, and we ask for your support at the ART SHOW to aid the Foundation which is the non-profit arm of our organisation.

REDS RESTAURANT, Sunday the 27th May at 2pm.

I teach, I paint and I draw and this is how WE raise money to assist teaching YOGA and SPIRITUALITY to people in drug rehabilitation. It is challenging work, and mostly pro-bono (volunteer). All the money we make goes into the Foundation… PLEASE, PLEASE we need you….

It is simple. The government has always been reluctant to fund yoga programs, and that has a flow on effect. The amount of yoga/meditation and yoga philosophy classes that are needed and wanted by people going through rehab, cannot be supported. So we have always supported out own work. The need has never been greater.

At the present time, I personally am doing 8 PRO BONO classes per week. 6 yoga, one meditation and one yoga philosophy. The fact I am not being paid is having a great POSITIVE effect on my result. The students know I am there because I believe in what I do, and they start with me ready to work hard.    We have some wonderful, wonderful patrons, but we need your help too. I want to widen our scope. More FREE classes for more people recovering from addictions. HOW TO HELP? Come to our exhibitions, buy from ETSY, take our programs. Everything we make through the institute goes to help.. You can help, you can make our work possible.

You trained with us, you are a part of our lineage (or we are a part of yours), Registration supports this. PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION. You need to be currently registered for your insurance to be valid, and you will need to supply a copy of a valid registration to be insured.  Please check your insurance requirements – keep up to date. They change quickly.

We have fallen in line with other organisations and ask people who are registered with us and wish to re-register to do at least one short course in the year as a continuing education requirement. You need to keep up. You can do one of my little courses on ETSY, or someone else’s, doesn’t have to be onerous, just something to keep you on your academic toes so to speak. Just watching a DVD won’t be enough unless you actually write a report on what you watched and why you watched it – the outcome – how it changed how you do what you do.

Why haunt libraries for information on the chakras, yamas, and other yoga philosophies relevant to the course (or The Tarot). It is all on ETSY. We do plan to update our shop (and the prices) with the new web update, but we will never be able to offer the options and service of etsy which has millions of customers.   For you who have never used ETSY please visit. It is fabulous and oh so EASY.   You will find all our books, our DVD’s and CD’s on ETSY.   (The Paul Grilley DVD’s are on our web site shop). Please go to Or for the Paul Grilley DVD’s (price about to go up as the exchange rate gets more difficult). If you are new and haven’t read about YAMAS, CHAKRAS then I have distilled them for you. Go to the Etsy site as above and have a look – especially at the new book and DVD on Hypermobility..

Please use the email address  for anything to do with accounts,  or the usual to get to me. If you do want to speak to me personally, then email, make a time suitable for both of us, and then we can chat.  If you do it this way, rather than just “wing it”, you can be reasonably sure I have time, and you will get my attention.  POSTAL ADDRESS is not at my home – Please address all land mail to PO Box 14, Mt.Macedon.  Vic. 3441.  Until you see a change written here in large letters, that is where it will be.

Don’t forget to Register if you are teaching even if you have not graduated (especially if you have not graduated), insure and re-subscribe to the videos every 12 months.   Don’t leave these to the last minute.
