GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES

Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….

Dedicated to a tradition of excellence in teaching for more than 40 years, The Australasian Yoga Institute offers yoga teachers comprehensive and systematic training in classical yoga.  We teach yoga techniques for body, breath, mind and spirit in 200hr and 500hr certification programs.  Our programs include training in meditation, asana.

I NEED YOUR PATIENCE.
PLEASE READ RIGHT THROUGH THIS NEWSLETTER.  THIS IS IMPORTANT

(…repeated just in case you didn’t read the first time)

As you know, Debbie (our Registrar) has not been well and will be absent for goodness knows how long.  Getting back as soon as she can.

Until the smoke clears, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR COURSE, OR ABOUT ANYTHING YOU WOULD NORMALLY TALK TO DEBBIE ABOUT – PLEASE EMAIL ME PERSONALLY AT yogafirst2@bigpond.com

WE are not sure when she will be back on deck, or in what capacity.

I would appreciate it if you did not phone for non-urgent matters as I am trying to do a number of jobs and my own until I get a handle on everything.  If you REALLY REALLY need to hear a voice, please ring my cell on 0402 088 170.  If I can’t answer right away, I will get back to you as soon as I can.  The office phone is diverted to that number most of the time.

I have got Jacky learning the financial ropes, Debbie Salter learning the nuts and bolts and a new face ( a yoga student) Tamara who will be showing us how we can use this time to get better at what we do.

I personally am learning to move between them, keeping the modules on track , and am doing what is needed to be done to update my technology so we can bring you more of what you need.  We have also got a new Teacher Training Cell opening in Bendigo around the Crusoeden Wellness Centre which is the school run by Jayne Boyle – you might have met her at Teacher Training classes.

It’s a lot.  So thank you for your patience.  When we get through this we will be sharper, bigger, and even better.

MAKING DECISIONS
I have been doing more hypnotherapy, more counselling, and more “urgent chats” and the core of the problem (no matter what the problem seems to be – even quit smoking) has been this.  People want an answer to their problems without having to address them personally.  I don’t have a magic wand.  The first thing is to be truly honest about where you are.    Then, know exactly how to get to whatever your goal is in baby steps.

I find it easier to do a list on a lined sheet.  You put your goal on the bottom line, and then work backwards  from the bottom to the top, step by step until you get to what you have to do today.  If you do it this way, you will have a neat plan of one-liners leading to the goal at the bottom of the page.  Then if you really get enthusiastic, make a separate page for each of the steps, and write out what each step entails.  When Deb got suddenly sick, I did such a list and there were 12 steps leading to a bigger, better teaching outcome.  I am working through it.

Now here is the hard bit.  You then have to actually take the little steps one by one, leading from today to your goal, crossing them out as you achieve them.   Yes, you can give yourself little rewards along the way.

I have found this a fantastic way of achieving difficult goals – BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHERE YOU ARE BEFORE YOU CAN KNOW WHAT IT IS YOU REALLY WANT.  The formula? “BE-DO-HAVE”.

RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY COURSE
The Restorative Course is my baby, and I will be working to make it as fabulous as we can get it.    I would like it if each and every one of you did this course.  It is so worthwhile, and you can take it around to your various Aged Care Facilities, and the like.  We have a  not very fit ageing population. Email yogafirst2@bigpond.com

YIN YOGA – INSTANT MASTER CLASS
This will be launched in about two to three weeks.  There is such a buzz about Yin yoga (and many styles).  I have tried to write a Master class with the minimum of props so that you teachers out there with no access to 15 props for each student can still teach a yin class.  Paul Grilley – the Master of Yin, didn’t have even one prop in any of his classes.  It was, and still is, the yoga that is between the Restorative and the Regular Yoga Class from a difficulty point of view.  People find it hard because we hold the poses, not that the poses are hard.  Anyway.  The booklet will be out soon. $25!  I will  make a USB available, handy for those in remote areas with poor web reception.

YOUR FILES
When Deb comes back we are going to bring all the files out of archive (It will be her first job on her return) – they are getting too cumbersome.  Files that are 5 years old or older.  We will keep your passport and the covering applications papers you sent when you first applied, and anything else I think is relevant.  The rest WE WILL SHRED.   However, should you want your file, please let us know and we will send it to you.  We will charge you the postage and it will be an expensive post for most of you, especially when you should have everything that we have.

WIN A FREE SHIRODHARA INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE AND OIL TREATMENT worth $100.

Not long to go now.  Buy your 12 class passes (a little earlier perhaps) to qualify for the draw.

  THE BLOG AND FACEBOOK
For anything yoga –  blog,  www.ministryofyoga.blogspot.com.
I don’t update every day.  But I do go on from time to time.
ATTENTION: WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US.
WE ARE LAUNCHING “THE GITAJAIA YOGA FOUNDATION”

THIS IS On track.  We will be shortly loading the constitution so you can all see what the excitement is about.  I am sure that this will be a valuable arm to our business.  The art show in June will be the Launch, and will raise some money to start the Foundation.

NOA BELLING – YOGA HANDBOOK.  PLEASE…..WE ALWAYS NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE!
We will buy yours off you for $25 plus whatever is the postage cost.  Email us if you would like to sell yours, and Deb will call you to organise.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com

We get so many folk get back to us saying how wonderful this book is.  There is a later edition available with lots of black and white photos in it, but my favourite is the first edition which was all colour.  If you can find one, keep it close by – it is a wonderful resource.   YOGA CLASSES
The Bentinck – THE HOME OF THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE
Cost:  $10 per person per class (or $100 a 12 class pass:  non–transferable).
$15 mum plus little yoga bub. $25 per family (mum, dad and two primary school children.
Young adults $10 each).

ABOUT THE CLASSES:  I have gently turned my attention to THE RESTORATIVE YOGA sessions.  Of course I still teaches a full workload at Innisfree.   However,  my senior teachers have been gradually taking over my general/public Hatha Yoga classes.  They are loving it – and I believe you are loving the changes too.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE:  I am re-evaluating my time.  I have been teaching and meditating for 50 years, and have a vast repository of yoga knowledge, and many formal qualifications.  Consequently, from mid-March, I will be charging a premium for the Restorative Yoga THERAPY Classes that I personally take.   My classes are never just Restorative Yoga.  Of course, if you want a private session, I am available by appointment.  Restorative Yoga Therapy/Hypnotherapy/Trance Healing and past Life Therapy available.  Any changes will be flagged here first.  READ YOUR NEWSLETTER.

PLEASE be patient.  Our student teachers need to learn, and they are so anxious to give you the best possible experience.  They are only babies, I have been teaching for 50 years!!!

WHERE: “The Bentinck” is on the corner of the Romsey Road and the High Street in Woodend.  Enter from  the start of the Romsey Road only – the sign is big and clear .

PARKING:  If both sides of the car park are full when you arrive, please park over the road – you just have to walk across Romsey road to yoga, and that’s not such a hard thing.  Don’t park anywhere else.  As you enter the gate, park only to right or to the left – not straight ahead. That also is staff parking.

*I have cancelled the Spiritual Yoga Class until I get requests to continue.  With Deb not well, there is much to do, and as only I can at present take this class –  it is suspended until further notice.

*RESTORATIVE YOGA (5 classes now – and growing)

They won’t always be with me.  As much as I love the classes, I must give other teachers a go at getting classes of their own.  RESTORATIVE YOGA …is a beautiful, gentle yoga which is done using lots of props and lots of time.  No balancing, no headstands, nothing but gentle stretches and rests.  You and/or a friend will love it especially if you have had surgery, are anxious, haven’t exercised for years, have a weight problem, or have a neurological problem.  It is also a PERFECT prenatal and postnatal session – if you are pregnant, please get a doctors certificate and bring it to your first class – not because I think you are unwell, but as it is an insurance requirement.

At the moment I am the only one locally able to take RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY CLASSES.  If you have a serious health issue, make sure that the class you are coming to is taught by me.  Take note that I will be overseeing all the other Restorative Classes from now on, so be aware I will be popping in and out of  Restorative Classes (and maybe others).

WATCH THE TIME – Don’t just wander in.  Every minute of a one hour class is important, so it is important that you get to the class early.  When you arrive, be observant, and enter quietly.    PLEASE,  please be on time. Because some of the classes are back to back, please check before you walk in.  Don’t assume the class has started, it may be the end of the last class.  There is a sitting area especially so you can wait for your class to start.

www.yogabeautiful.com.au If you are looking for any changes in times and days, then please go to the web site.  You will find everything there.

NEXT TEACHER TRAINING CLASS –

The next will be on Sunday, the 3rd April…..at the Bentinck – in the Yoga Room, enter through Romsey Road only.  Please join us. – Topic (The one we didnt get around to last time) : “MEDITATION – Searching for a relationship with God”.      If you are a distance ed. student then the cost of the afternoon is $10.  If you are a visitor you are most welcome – and if you are a visitor and not formally a student teacher with us then the cost is $20.

Everything will change for you when you work out that there is plenty of time in every day to complete the important things.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – “AYI YOGA UNIVERSITY”

All our classes are available via distance education and you can start any time..  Thank you to those students who are moving from their 200 to another, higher course.  Once you have got into the habit of learning, then it is easy to keep going….   Within our school there are three levels of YOGA TEACHER TRAINING, plus a course in the Gita, the fundamental source of all yoga teaching through the ages.

1.    THE BHAGAVADGITA (YOGIC PHILOSOPHY)

2.    RYTA200 –  THE BASIC YOGA COURSE

3.    RYTA500 – THE NEXT STEP

which you can take in a number of ways.  You must start with 200 hours first.

4.    RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY TRAINING

5.    PPT Massage technique.  A stand-alone class, fully insurable.

Most people have never met, and don’t understand, that there are angels all around us whose only job is to make sure that you don’t get too comfortable, fall asleep and miss the important moments (and gifts) in your life.

THE SHOP and ETSY  www.myyogabooks.etsy.com

We recently were noticed in Mass. USA and we are getting a review for our posters and colouring book – if you had not noticed, colouring in is the new thing.  Best seller list stuff…

LET’S GET COLOURING IN:  This week I received an email from one of our students who had purchased the chakras and colouring book and REALISED THAT COLOURING THE DRAWINGS  WAS A MEDITATION.  I celebrated.  It has taken a year for a student to understand the reason for the drawings. THANK YOU!  THANK YOU! THANK YOU……!!!  They are being reviewed by a journalist in the USA who LOVED THEM.  She said that we were so “on trend”.  With these posters you can colour and then frame them.  Not just put a book in the shelf.  And they are big.

ALL OUR IN-HOUSE DVD’S AND CD’S ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS SITE.  Please remember that they are not flashy high cost productions.  They are made by Deb, Nic and me to answer your various questions.  They are useful in your course.

“YIN YOGA”, “FIVE TIBETANS”,  “THE YAMAS”,   “THE UN-MEDITATION COURSE”

YOGA SWINGS: Colours – *blue and grey, grey and black or pink and orange”,

“THE REVELATION TAROT”, “HOW-TO STUDY YOGA BY DISTANCE EDUCATION”,

“THE CHAKRAS – A COLOURING-IN BOOK and a REFERENCE BOOKLET”

“CHAKRA BOOKLET”, “ETERNITY THE PRAYER”, “THE PENDULUM BOARD AND COURSE”.

We also have a great piece of fun just come in.  It is a round tube like a hollow steering wheel with a ball inside.  I don’t go for these gimmicks, but this is fabulous for core and upper arms – a couple of minutes and you can really feel the difference..  Ring Deb and ask her about it.  $35 plus postage.

YIN YOGA/ANATOMY/MEDITATION DVD’s – all with Paul Grilley

This is one of my major sources of course and can be a source for you too.  BUY ALL THREE.  You will never regret it.   They are the best and will form the backbone of your yoga references.  Don’t hold back it will be false economy.   As I have told you before when I bought mine they cost $100 or so each.  I thought that this was a good investment.  I think half that is a steal! And that is what we are selling this for www.yogabeautiful.com.au

Paul Grilley has put out an on-line course which you might like to access – it is about the anatomy of a headstand. It is not on a DVD  – which is unfortunate, but I am hoping that at some stage it will be made available on disc.

We are getting in a new DVD about the HISTORY and fundamentals of the philosophy of yoga.  It has been out for about 18 months, but as you know, when they first come on the market they are more expensive.  We are now able to negotiate for a bulk deal, thus saving up front, and saving postage.

Lots of fabulous teachers are interviewed.  It is worthwhile  and I will let you know when we have it.

I move with the infinite in nature’s power.  I hold the fire of the soul.  I hold the life and healing”. (Rig Veda)

REGISTRATION/INSURANCE www.yogabeautiful.com.au

We are giving you total choice now, although it may be a bit more expensive…..

REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE HAVE BEEN UNCOUPLED.  YOU CAN BUY THEM SEPARATELY.  A DEARER OPTION, BUT IT SEEMS THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT.  WE AIM TO PLEASE.

YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so):

Signing up for a course – our course included, is like buying a car.  You can’t buy it, take it for one run, leave it in the garage and a year later go back to the dealer and ask for your money back.  It doesn’t work like that.  If you are on the course, you are on the course until you write and let us know that you are not.  If twelve months and more have elapsed with no contact in spite of all our newsletters, etc…. then you have (as far as we are concerned) been on the course for 12 months.

If you are a trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only.  Imagine if what would happen to our Institute if  you took three years to finish your course and you could still come to classes free for the entire course.  We do our fee calculation based on 12 months of free yoga classes.   Your training fees cover you for a year, after that we ask you to pay $10 per class.

I have found  if you paddle your boat it is easier to maintain the illusion of control, but I tell you it is so much more fun if you pull the oars in and just let the river take you where it will….

TAKE CLASSES WITH JAHNE ANYWHERE, ANY TIME.
VIDEOS:  THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL – THEY ARE NECESSARY! Only $275 per annum.

I can’t stress this enough.   Please look down the list of the videos before you try to do stick drawings, or organise your journal.  I have shown you what I recommend. All you have to do is download.  I even did a video on ‘The Gita, and a number of philosophy videos for those who can’t come to class.  There will be more of these.  Good feedback thus far – thank you. Please.  Email us and Debbie will make sure that you are logged in promptly.

This will make your course shorter because if you don’t watch the videos, don’t get the hints and tips we give you, you may have to do modules again.  It does not save time not to watch.

Before you start the course, spend time wading through the videos.  Get a feeling for how they are set up, what’s where.  It will save you heaps of time later on.  There are stick figures, respiration, philosophy, how to teach….even the garden is there.  You will love them, but you have to get to know them – it’s not just about asanas.  My various hair incarnations alone will keep you interested!

CONSULTS WITH JAHNE

If your question is a lifestyle issue, a domestic issue, or a personal issue and you want personal advice (counselling), even hypnotherapy….then there is a charge.  Her service is professional and there is an hourly rate. Please enquire before you decide to make a booking.  Teacher Training issues at the moment are part of the course, and cost nothing – but you need to make an appointment.   Please, respect Jahne’s 50 years of teaching and training. Her time is valuable, she is always teaching, studying or working with her students – it is all a matter of energy and exchange.  We are a Sangha.   Thank you.

REGARDING DEBBIE

Debbie is not available at the moment, I am via email, and if you especially and urgently can’t find the answer to your question in the videos, in your books, or on line!  I am sitting at my desk and doing yoga classes at Innisfree on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday afternoons, sometimes on Sundays…. Ph: 0354 273 518 or email yogafirst2@bigpond.com, or text 0402 088 170

Please this time is NOT a counselling session. It should be about your course.  If you have enrolled with other professional distance education schools on other topics, you will know they charge to speak to the principal.  We don’t.  Before you ring, plan what you want to say, get organised, and be gentle. I am always available on email or text because I teach and am not always at my desk.  (I am not a beautiful as Debs and will get you to the heart of your needs quickly).  Don’t hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can.

THE LAST WORD: I try to imagine life without being able to speak to God, but none of the days without that special energy have the same laughter, or opportunities…..
