GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES  Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….   Dedicated to a tradition of excellence in teaching for more than 40 years, The Australasian Yoga Institute offers yoga teachers comprehensive and systematic training in classical yoga.  We teach yoga techniques for body, breath, mind and spirit in 200hr and 500hr certification programs.  Our programs include training in meditation, asana.

THE YAMAS –
I cannot stress these too much how important these are.
I WANT YOU TO REMEMBER THEM. NOTHING WORKS, NOTHING WORKS, IF THESE ARE NOT IN PLACE IN YOUR LIFE
.
If you come to me to be registered in our organisation (and baby,  it is growing and is going to take some BIG leaps)  and you haven’t done the yamas, guess what, you will have to do a workshop and an exam…..  For me, the philosophy of yoga is the most important.  There is NOTHING more important.
We start there I have never liked the (Christian) “Thou Shalt Not” approach and am trying out a new one.

“Just for today I will not kill thoughts, hopes, aspirations,  confidence.  I will not kill.”
“Just for today I will work on telling the truth”
“Just for today I will work on not stealing”
“Just for today I will work on respecting all people and all things”
“Just for today I will work on not taking more of anything than what I need”.

THE ESSENTIAL TRIANGLE
I haven’t managed the technicalities of putting pictures on the email, but I am sure that you can imagine a triangle.  The base is RESPONSIBILITY, the right hand side is HONESTY, and the Left hand side is AWARENESS and while everyone knows paying attention to this triangle is the path to a good life, a yoga life, not many pay attention to it in their own lives.  A casual glance  will encourage you to believe it is true, but closer inspection will show you how “out of balance” their lives really are.  All talk, no action.   It is the same as paying attention to the yamas.

Often, because I give talks on yoga philosophy people have the chance to chat with me about these essentials.  It is amazing how those people who you can tell right away are not living up to any of the basic philosophies,  will take time talking to me on the importance of the teachings, how wonderful they are, and lecture me from a great height – having done at least half a dozen  hot yoga classes and read  a couple of books!!!!    Before you do that, remember,  it is not about knowing – it is about DOING.  And, if I get the opportunity I am going to confront you with that whether it is uncomfortable for you or not.

A common example – smoking.  If you are a healer and you are smoking, you are not really a healer of yourself or anyone else.  Plus, you are building negative karma all over the place – not helpful!  If you are a healer and are engaging in illicit sexual relations, not telling the truth, stealing even in small ways then your healing is hollow.    If your speech is not respectful of yourself or others, then this also is not a healing way.

To be a healer, to talk with God, you have to be walking what is known in all scriptures as “the narrow path”.  It is not the easy path – however, it is THE ONLY PATH that will lead you to enlightenment.

Remember there is only one reason you chose to return to earth,  and that was to help others.  To be of service to others.  Start today being of service to yourself.. then move outwards from there.

(Next TT Sunday 6th December 2pm to 4pm – we might have a lesson on Karma, Bhakti and Reincarnation.  What do you think?)

“Everything will change for you when you work out that there is plenty of time in every day to complete the important things”.

I have been talking God for as long as I can remember.  Sometimes he is funny, sometimes he is not pleased, sometimes he is so on the money I cry.  It always wonderful time for me, and of everything in my life, I would totally miss this if I couldn’t link up. I could give up everything – but I couldn’t give up Talking to God.  Or Talking WITH God.  Sometimes other people come through of course (especially my Mother), but mainly I go there to talk to God.

Some time ago I learned to talk to God via the computer keyboard.  If God isn’t everywhere (even in my computer), then there is no God, and working on that knowing I have been practising this way of talking ever since.  Anyway, them upstairs said to me that I should put these wanderings somewhere that you could read it too. I started out on a Moonfruit site, but the other day in yoga they started talking to me (hard to concentrate on the class at the same time), and said to change to blogspot (would you believe!!!) as I couldn’t cut and paste from the site I was using.  I didn’t argue, but I didn’t really know.  When I got home and tested it they were right.  So I changed to the blogspot site.   Hope that you can tune in to this with us.  I am not sure what They have in mind, and I don’t know why this is important, but I am sure all will become known in time.

Please understand that not everyday will be breathtaking, not everyday will be worth it to you – they
are after all MY chats with God – but I hope that you can get something from the entries.

TALKING TO JAHNE
If you want to talk with me about a problem in your life.  Usually “I am Stuck, please help” is the most asked.  then I am available.  I do charge –  I ask for a donation.  If you do come, and take an hour of my time, please consider that you have taken an hour of my time, and whilst I am considering you, and wanting to help you in asking you to donate what you can afford, please consider my time if nothing else.  If you think I am only worth a couple of dollars then perhaps someone else is better qualified to help you.

Make an appointment, keep the appointment (I have made the time available for you even if you don’t come there is a cost), and don’t just use me to fill in time between other things – I am a busy person.    Don’t get me wrong, I love helping you, I love chatting.  If it is a specific teacher Training assistance you want then that of course is a different matter and Deb or I can help you, no charge of course.  But personal matters (Counselling or a Past Life session) then that is different – I am sure you can see and appreciate that.    I am doing some training with a school where the Principal bills out at $50 per phone conversation no matter what it is about.  We don’t.  I don’t.  Remember the yamas (again).

THE RESTORATIVE COURSE – FREE INFORMATION AFTERNOON SESSION.
On the last Sunday in this month, the 29th November at 2pm to 3.30 I will be holding a FREE information session with regard to the RESTORATIVE COURSES.  I would encourage you to come if you have thought about extending your qualifications, or if you want to have a very specific therapy practice.  Or even if you just want to work in a very part-time way with the elderly and infirm (or people in recovery).  This will be a good session for you.

NOA BELLING – YOGA HANDBOOK.  PLEASE…..WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE!
We are still asking for your help. I wondered if any of you out there had finished with their book and would like to sell it back to us, WE WOULD LOVE TO BUY IT OFF YOU.  We can get it secondhand from time to time for $25 to $30.  We will buy yours off you for $25 plus whatever is the postage cost.  Email us if you would like to sell yours, and Deb will call you to organise.    yogafirst2@bigpond.com

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – “JAHNE’S YOGA UNIVERSITY” Within our school there are three levels of YOGA TEACHER TRAINING, plus a course in the Gita, the fundamental source of all yoga teaching through the ages.

*THE BHAGAVADGITA (and YOGA PHILOSOPHY) which is like a Certificate or Diploma Level,  RYTA 200/350 which is our “degree course”  and     *RYTA500 the “masters”.

1.   THE BHAGAVADGITA (YOGIC PHILOSOPHY)
2.    RYTA200 –  THE BASIC YOGA COURSE
3.    RYTA350 – COURSE ACCREDITED BY YOGA AUSTRALIA
4.    RYTA500 – THE NEXT STEP
5.    RESTORATIVE YOGA (Level 1) and RESTORATIVE YOGA  THERAPY TRAINING (Level 2)
Two levels.   CPE (pending) and Diploma level – includes “Brain Yoga”… A professional level course.

The RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY COURSE (Level 2), has morphed into a professional stand-alone course for people who want to specialise in Restorative Yoga Therapy.  It won’t be easy, and attracts the same conditions and provisions as the Professional Yoga Teacher Training course.  Everyone who is now on the course is doing the Level 1.  If you are interested in making Restorative Yoga Therapy your primary modality, then please let me know.  It is such a worthwhile course, and few are doing it to this level.

Most people have never met, and don’t understand, that there are angels all around us whose only job is to make sure that you don’t get too comfortable, fall asleep and miss the important moments (and gifts) in your life.

THE GITAJAIA YOGA FOUNDATION: Every week I say it is coming, and it is.  Rather than do “bits” we are re-energising our whole organisation.  So, be patient.  It is coming.   On the way we are rebadging the whole organisation – new web page banners, new look….

THE SHOP and ETSY  www.myyogabooks.etsy.com As usual we are ahead of the pack.  Colouring books are the new big thing, and we have had our colouring-in posters available for a long time now.
This week I received an email from one of our students who had purchased the chakras and colouring book and REALISED THAT COLOURING THE DRAWINGS  WAS A MEDITATION.  I celebrated.  It has taken a year for a student to understand the reason for the drawings. THANK YOU!  THANK YOU! THANK YOU……!!!
ALL OUR IN-HOUSE DVD’S AND CD’S ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS SITE.  Please remember that they are not flashy high cost productions.  They are made by Deb and me to answer your various questions.  They are useful in your course.

REGISTRATION/INSURANCE www.yogabeautiful.com.au We are giving you total choice now, although it may be a bit more expensive…..
REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE HAVE BEEN UNCOUPLED.  YOU CAN BUY THEM SEPARATELY.  A DEARER OPTION, BUT IT SEEMS THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT.  WE AIM TO PLEASE.

YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so): If you are a trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only.     Imagine if what would happen to our Institute if  you took three years to finish your course and you could still come to classes free for the entire course.  We do our fee calculation based on 12 months of free yoga classes.   Your training fees cover you for a year, after that we ask you to pay $10 per class.

Also, just signing up and not sending in any modules means you are not really a trainee yoga teacher, and unless we receive regular communication (even if it isn’t modules), at a certain point we will deem that you have disconnected from us, and we will disconnect from you.  And, coming to class with no intention of completing the course just to get the cheaper, easier student insurance, and free classes isn’t exactly living the yamas!  Sooner or later we will call your bluff.

I have found  if you paddle your boat it is easier to maintain the illusion of control, but I tell you it is so much more fun if you pull the oars in and just let the river take you where it will….

VIDEOS:  THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL – THEY ARE NECESSARY! Only $275 per annum. Please look down the list of the videos before you try to do stick drawings, or organise your journal.  I have shown you what I recommend..  All you have to do is download.  I even did a video on ‘The Gita.  Good feedback thus far – thank you.      Please.  Email us and Debbie will make sure that you are logged in promptly. OH YES, IF YOU HAVE BOUGHT THE SUBSCRIPTION, THEN PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEOS.  IF YOUR NAME IS NOT EDGAR CAYCE THEN YOU CAN’T LEARN WHAT IS ON THE TAPE FROM SLEEPING WITH YOUR COMPUTER! yogafirst2@bigpond.com

GARDENING WITH BENEFITS I had a gardening afternoon with John on Sunday.  We cut back the Dutch Box.  I remember when I planted little 6 inch cuttings, now it is a major feature.  I have to say that you just must watch men when they have trimmers in their hands.  The job he did on sections of the box were not artistic, a bit harsh (unsympathetic as Stephen Ryan would say), but it will grow, and I can keep it in check.  It had just got a bit out of hand.

Also did a major prune of the Southern Wormwood.  I use this for making liqueurs, it is a primary ingredient in absinthe (the “green fairy”!).  I make vermouth and it is rather wonderful.   Maybe you could try it for Christmas.  It is just an aperitif, so a little old fashioned sherry glass is perfect and just sip, this is not a “shot”..

VERMOUTH – The Recipe..
I don’t really measure the herbs precisely for myself, but have given what I think is right here.

This is a gentle, herby white Vermouth, it is not for quaffing.  Just sip before a meal to prepare your stomach for what is to come.  There is red vermouth available in the shops, but white is traditional.

You will need a white wine.  Catarratto, Clairette blanche, Piquepoul or Trebbiano.  Anything with a low alcohol content.  If you do it with these wines you will need to add a little vodka to bring it up to 14/16 proof and also for the preservative qualities of the vodka.

The base: 1 litre of wine, 200 ml vodka, 200 grams of caster sugar, a little water.

The herbs (I use fresh, but you could use dried, just cut back a bit on the quantity): three star anise and a handful  5 grams approx of artemesia vulgaris leaves, 15 gm of bay leaves, 15gm of dried orange peel, 5g rosemary, 15g sage, 5g vanilla pods, 2g yarrow, a couple of cloves, one cinnamon stick and 5g of black peppercorns, and a star anise in the bottle at the end.

The Way: (actually –  my way).
1.  Put the herbs into a jar with the wine and leave to macerate for about a week.  Give it a shake every day. The artemesia should dominate.
2.  After a week filter/strain the wine herb mix over a jug in a fine jelly or muslin bag.
3.  While this is straining  make the syrup.  Heat the sugar (preferably castor) and 4tbs water over a high heat.  Swirl the caramelly syrup around to get a deeper colour and complex taste BUT DON’T BURN IT.  If you do, toss it out and start again.  Don’t take it as far as toffee or caramel.  This is a syrup.
4.  Add 125ml wine to the syrup in the pot, turn the heat right down, and combine until the sugar is totally dissolved into the wine.  Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature.
5.  Bring the strained herb liquid and the sugar liquid together add the vodka to the cooled mix, seal the jar and leave it in a cool dark place for about 10 days..
6.  After 10 days, stir gently, filter the liquid again (a coffee filter paper is good for this) bottle, add a star anise and store in the refrigerator.   Enjoy.

As your wine is maturing, start thinking about the wonderful things you can use it for.  Over icecream, added to cream, as an aperitif before dinner… or you can use it during cooking with roasts and braises…

PS Dry Vermouth is the French variation of this drink in which the wine is left in the open air for a few days as part of the maturation process.

YIN YOGA/ANATOMY/MEDITATION DVD’s – all with Paul Grilley They are the best and will form the backbone of your yoga references.  As I have told you before when I bought mine they cost $100 or so each.  I thought that this was a good investment.  I think half that is a steal! And that is what we are selling this.  www.yogabeautiful.com.au

REGARDING DEBBIE If you want to speak to Debbie about any aspect of the courses – she has done them, please remember that she only comes in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  On those days she is available on Ph: 0354 273 518.  I am always here, and available preferably on email or text because I teach and am not always at my desk.  Don’t hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can.

THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS – Please note

THE LAST WORD: I try to imagine life without being able to speak to God, but none of the days without that special energy have the same laughter, or opportunities…..
