Dear Yogis..

Thanks for those who came to the luncheon, it was heaps of fun and Katie and I were the last to leave at 2.45!  I had the salmon “Poke Bowl” and it was beautiful as usual.

COLD SHOWERS

I have become a passionate aficionado and a bit boring about the benefit of cold showers in the morning.  Not just “run in/run out” but at least 2 minutes on the feet, then 4 mins on the legs, then 3 minutes on the back and I am working on going forward – 10 minutes all over, cold, full on water.

If you want to see someone who can really do this (and my inspiration as well as Wim Hoff) then look at the youtube video of Joanna Nordblad.  She free dives under the ice, in the beginning to distract herself from pain at a time when she contemplated suicide.  When I first started I thought “Why am I doing this” now I know.  I am sharper, clearer, have more energy, and I am looking forward to teaching yoga for the next… (maybe 20 or so) years.  I attribute this solely to the cold in the morning.  At a time when some older students are wanting to slow down, go easy, I am looking for more physical challenges, more yoga classes.

When I speak to my students about this discipline, they shy away with all sorts of excuses – even if they have multiple physical and mental difficulties.  They won’t even try.

For me, it is my insurance policy.  No brain fog, no aches and pains, loving yoga. Excited for life.   Who wouldn’t do this simple thing.    I can’t understand that people won’t even give it a go for a couple of months.  Not just a dribble of cold, but a full on shower, hard and strong.  It seems even our students,  would face hundreds of dollars in doctors fees, the inconvenience, the possible “slicing and dicing”, because they are afraid of the cold – as Joanna says “there is no place for fear”.

There is no guarantee of life everlasting, however, you will feel fabulous to the end, whatever that may mean to you..

PESTO

Yesterday I made a fabulous “sticky weed (cleavers), foraged greens and parsley pesto” and a “one egg mayo” which I have finally got the hang of.  I must be feeling domestic.  Actually it is light relief after the gallery in the morning (and anticipating Monday morning meet-up too), and catching up with new yoga class timetable (see below)

I have always organised to reach you lovely lot with new classes first, but now I am reaching further afield.
