GOOD MORNING FROM ME.  I am feeling well, and happy.  I hope you are too.  …. being alone is a situation I like being in, and it gives me lots of time to paint (and write newsletters and blogs, and videos, and, and, and) 

 

UNLIKE SWEDEN IT IS LOCK-DOWN TIME HERE. 

The good news story is that China is getting its citizens back to work. Not so the USA.  As Trump SAID, from his point of view, the cure seems worse than the disease, but with his citizens deciding to take no heed of the rest of the world, he has had to take action.  I had an email from a very well known cancer survivor/blogger in the USA – A lady with a huge following, who had a disco on Monday or Tuesday last, and was planning one weekly to help get people out of the doldrums!!! They just don’t pay attention.  No wonder the USA has become the Covid epicentre.

 

MY DAY . 

The way that I look at it… health is holistic.  You can’t just deal with one aspect.  You can’t meditate your way out of this crisis, you can’t yoga yourself out of it either… From my point of view (and I am a Bach Flower Essence fan for this reason) It’s not just what you take, it’s also what you say, think and do, and how you live which influences your immune status.. All your organs power your ‘immune system’, via the meridians. It goes without saying that lifestyle is one of the most powerful medicines for organ function. Every moment counts, much of mine in the last few days has been spent in the garden, which  is even more lovely – I have minimised the pond.  It will save me money and time.  If it wasn’t for the  STRANGELY WRAPPED GIFT, I wouldn’t have gotten around to it.

I asked for time and God has given it to me.  I call it  A STRANGELY WRAPPED GIFT.  Sometimes when we ask for a gift, it arrives and we reject it because it doesn’t come wrapped as we expect.  Let’s use this gift of TIME to dose up on lifestyle medicine! How about we swap all those things that deplete our immunity for some new habits which will activate our body’s ability to bounce back.

I even gargle twice a day with salt, oak essence and olive leaf extract, on the basis that the virus is respiratory, and the Chinese recommend gargling (not terribly charming, and not something to do in front of the children unless everyone is doing it!)  They also recommend supplementing with Vit.C, zinc, D,  frequent hand washing, and frequent warm drinks.

ITS ALL ABOUT THE BODY CLOCK – 5-7am is detox (large intestine) time and 7-9am (stomach) is defence time. Start waking up to exercise and you get rid of toxins so you can build immunity THE FIVE TIBETANS? Follow  with a calm, slow breakfast somewhere between 7am – 9am and you will be seriously building your internal defence gut function.    I’ve been doing lifestyle medicine for decades now.  Social distance has opened up the space for change. TAROT READING CLASSES/PENDULUM:  

Hello – Hello.  Depending on restrictions, our next training class starts on Saturday  the 2nd May at 2pm.  We already have pre-bookings, yes, there is room for you.  I have released a new TINY pendulum how-to booklet which you can get on etsy with a pendulum.  I am selling it at rock bottom prices so it can help you through this crisis. Everyone needs a friend, and mine is my pendulum.

 

MY ANGELS

Remember after 9/11,  I promised to paint and sell/distribute 1,000 ANGEL PAINTINGS?  I finished the last in January 2017.  I think it is time to take up the challenge once again, so I have vowed to paint another 1,000 ANGELS.  THE 1,000 ANGEL PROJECT (stage2) –  they are needed.  I still get reports of how my paintings are helping people through difficult times.  It is as if an angel “inhabits” each work.  As you call out to the angel and reach for the painting, the angel reaches for you.

PS>  As before I will also gift some.  When you buy one, you are helping a hospital, aged care home, or a needy person get one.

When I painted my last 1,000 angels I made a public announcement which still stands — if any child 18 years of age or younger writes to me promising to never use drugs, alcohol or tobacco, I will send them an original drawing.  So far I have fulfilled many, many requests.

 

ART MATERIALS WORKSHOP

REGISTRATIONS/MODULES ETC.

Thank you all those students who have re-registered.  Please support us as we support you.  We had someone this week who came back to us after a four year absence, and only up to module 6.  When you spread that out it is module a year.  Did we take her back?  Sure.  She really wanted to come back, registered, and signed up for the videos (it is our principle request when you have been away for a long time and I believe shows good faith).  Please reach out if you want to continue.  It is the perfect time.  What else are you going to do?  Just sit at home?  Make your time away from work, count.

 

MASSAGE, PAST LIFE CONSULTATIONS and YOGA WITH JAHNE….. have been discontinued until May, or whenever the Government allows us to do it within stated limits.

 

MONTHLY TEACHER TRAINING AT THE HOME STUDIO: (dependent on covid restrictions)

DATE of the next (proposed) Teacher Training:   Sunday 3rd May  2pm to 4pm  at my home studio (37 Morris Road in Woodend. There is no need to book. Bring writing materials, and be early. If you are a Yoga Teacher Training student then the cost of the afternoon is $20.  This fee applies to everyone. (Visitors are welcome – even those not yet in teacher training – $30).

The school holidays (magically) started today,

…so NO YOGA IN SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.    There will be no yoga until the middle of April (no teacher training this month).  We will keep you updated regarding the progress of the virus, and how it is affecting us.

I have the absolute latest regime from China (passed to me by a medico working in Europe) on keeping the virus contained, and to protect ourselves.  Of course the Chinese are the best equipped to tell us.  They have been working on it for at least a month longer than us, and because of the scale, they have been able to do autopsies on workers who have died of the virus.  Here is what they recommend… I am doing it.

COVID UPDATE: 

Because China has been doing autopsies they now know some basic things we should be doing to protect ourselves.  The virus is a respiratory one. It attaches to the mucus in the lungs hardens it, and thereby makes breathing impossible.

What to do?

  1. Drink HOT LIQUIDS (coffee/tea/soup etc) not cold and warm water EVERY 20 MINUTES.
  2. Gargle with antiseptic or salt (in warm water) every day. I add a couple of drops of my Olive leaf Extract.
  3. The virus is transmitted on hair and clothes. After you have been outside bath/shower/ change your clothes and/or hang them in direct sunlight. Because we don’t have much sunlight, I tumble dry my clothes on hot for about 10-15 minutes.  Pretend you are on a strange planet and have to protect against alien organisms (which we are!).
  4. The virus is viable on metal surfaces for up to 9 days. Vigilantly sanitise metal surfaces, handles, door knobs etc. Don’t forget your glasses, your car doors steering wheel, clutch… and so on.
  5. DON’T SMOKE
  6. Wash hands in warm or hot suds every 20 minutes. I also use hand santiser on my hands,  which I then smooch on my hair.
  7. Eat fruit and vegetables. and increase your zinc level not just Vitamin C.
  8. Animals are OK. This is human to human not animal transmission.
  9. Avoid catching the flu (I think if you do all these things it will help).  Don’t get cold.
  10. Avoid eating or drinking cold things.
  11. If you feel any discomfort, and difference in your breathing or wellness, start this regime NOW. Don’t leave it until later or until you have more time!

Good morning yogis…. (“Keep Calm and Carry on” is the message)

You know me, I have been your teacher for a long time now.  I was talking to my son about this crisis… he said “mum it is not about you”.  How could he think that?  YES,  IT IS ABOUT ME! If I don’t motivate myself, I can’t motivate anyone else. If I don’t stay above this, how can I counsel my students and clients from across the planet, helping them not to lose heart, to stay the course?  It is the same for you.  It is about you too.    By my very nature, I’m very optimistic. That’s why I do the blog, the videos, the newsletter…

If you are a yogi and you are teaching – make no mistake….you are in business.  I would much rather search for opportunities, than stare at problems. How about you?

Just like what Sam Walton (founder of Walmart the third-largest retailer in the US) had to say when asked how he has thrived during an economic contraction.

“I’ve thought about it, but I have chosen not to participate.”

And I too, have chosen not to participate… it does not mean that I am not taking care of the physical, the health guidelines.  That is a given.  It means I am not thinking doom and gloom.

Think about Jenny Craig, and other meal services.  Do you think meal delivery services like hers are failing, or cleaning services.  No.  Are they advertising less, have they cut down on what they are providing? Not them.  In this atmosphere they are growing.  Because they understood that their offers went from being merely convenient, i.e. not needing to cook and clean, in this crisis, they became almost a necessity for some folk dealing with a changed home environment, still having to work, and being unable to get the usual fast food in the supermarkets.  Even more time poor than usual – and fearful..

The lesson here.

How can you  position your school, your classes,  to solve an immediate solution to a pressing problem, or create a unique opportunity created by this contraction?   When you advertise in one direction you may get the results from somewhere else.  Even better than you may have considered.  “Keep calm and carry on”.

Learn from the past….

When consumers and businesses get back to their normal routines, we’re going to see a V-shaped rebound driven by pent-up consumer demand.  Your job is to find a way to hang in there so you will be around when everything returns to what we call “normal”. 

And the yogis that will be positioned to take advantage of this will be the ones who didn’t stop moving and shaking.

My advice?

*Don’t be scared.  Fear will debilitate your immune system,

*Wake up every day to good music, good yoga and optimism.

*Use this opportunity to advance your company.

*Invest in yourself.

*Invest in your business.

*Advance when others are retreating…

Having said all that.     My yoga classes though protracted will still be functioning on a limited basis using all the guidelines.  I have updated the web site, go there for details of our classes.  As the situation changes, we will.

The Minister has also indicated that the Department of Health is now developing full allied health telehealth options, along with other health and medical services, within the week. This will be part of a staged plan and he encourages providers to continue vital face-to-face services where possible. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency has also advised that we should continue to provide health services provided that it is safe to do so, that we follow currrent guidelines for infection prevention and control and all other hygiene measures. We are applying the available guidelines for Social Distancing  for your and our safety. If you have had contact with someone with coronavirus, you must follow the guidelines on self-isolation. For information see Isolation Guidance. If you are unwell with any symptoms that may be coronavirus, please follow the Home isolation guidance when unwell (suspected or confirmed cases).

That being said, there will be no Teacher Training this month.  It is only one day, and we will be back on the 3rd May. I will get back to you (even daily) as I find ways to help you through this…
