GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES

Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….

Dedicated to a tradition of excellence in teaching for more than 40 years, The Australasian Yoga Institute offers yoga teachers comprehensive and systematic training in classical yoga.  We teach yoga techniques for body, breath, mind and spirit in 200hr and 500hr certification programs.  Our programs include training in meditation, asana.

Did you hear about the Yoga Student who on enrolment asked about the hours, and when they were told that there was a weekend requirement said how pleased they were to be on the course, how excited, and how they longed to be a teacher, HOW PASSIONATE THEY WERE ABOUT YOGA (!) BUT there would be a few occasions they couldn’t turn up for teacher training.

They could not sacrifice Christmas day and the day before and after,   childrens’ and spouse’s birthday in December, May and November  and the day before and after (one has to prepare and clean up), Australia Day and the week prior which was always a great family event, Easter – two weeks because they had always taken that time off, the school holidays in each term, Valentines day (who could miss that), Mother’s Day – the children loved that, and if they celebrated Mother’s day then they must celebrate Fathers day etc etc through the year. Then there was grandma’s birthday and so on.   When all these holidays, birthdays and family days were taken into account there was only one weekend left when the potential student was able to come to teacher training.

How “passionate” are you about your yoga?  Does it have to fit in with your requirements? Not everyone is able because of distance to come to training, they would love to but they can’t.  To be able to is a blessing and a gift.   With love and care you can always manipulate your days around training, but you can’t manipulate our sessions around your days (people do ask!) – we have a schedule .  And, it is only for one year of your life.

I am not going to be available for ever.  I made this critical error with my main teacher. Stupidly, selfishly,  I behaved as if I could catch up sometime when it was convenient.  Sadly, she passed on before that time arrived.  I don’t have many regrets, but that its one.   I should have taken a whole lot more time, paid a whole lot more attention, loved her more.  I didn’t,  and it has taken me years to learn what I could have learned from her, one-to-one.  How wonderful would that have been.  How valuable.

RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY COURSE

This is such a beautiful course, and getting better all the time.  I agree that it is better taught hands-on, but that is not always possible.  That is why we persist with the Distance Education option.

Although we do have a video of the major poses you can learn, it does not show you the therapy aspect as thoroughly as your own practice will, because there are so many physical difficulties that will present themselves, and so many ways to resolve them in your class situation.  You just need to have a broad yoga vocabulary of poses, anatomy and physiology,  think very carefully about every client, and get onto the email with me as often as you can (there are a few therapists who take advantage of this, and they reap the benefit).  Love and passion about yoga and helping people are the two main requirements to be great at this course.

Some students have started slow, taken a few wrong turns and then bingo, the light switch goes on, and they are up and running.  It is a fabulous process, and I am learning every day.

Because the course is quite complex, there is much to know, I am constantly re-writing, tweaking.  Making it better and better.  When you graduate, you will have a wonderful technique you can use in class, or one-on-one.  If you are interested, please contact me in the first instance.  Tell me why you want to do the course, and your qualifications.  I email interview everyone who does the course (it is that important to me).  Email yogafirst2@bigpond.com

THE MADALA WORKSHOP

We had a wonderful workshop on Sunday and learned heaps.  I wondered why I don’t teach it more often.  It is such a glorious, insightful therapy.  Even Jung thought so.   Another tool to add to your one-on-one clinical therapy – too bad it was such a small class.  It was important.  I don’t do things, I don’t give my precious time, to things that are not important. .

THE BLOG AND FACEBOOK
Nicole is doing our FaceBook YOGA FIRST pages yogafirst2@bigpond.com If you read something with a YOGA FIRST blue logo, the it is Nicole’s post.

For anything yoga blog, please look on www.ministryofyoga.blogspot.com .

I don’t update every day.  But I do go on from time to time.

The blog “talking with god” actually led me into a much deeper dialogue with God, and cut short my blogs.  But I will get back to them.

ATTENTION: WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US.

WE ARE LAUNCHING “THE GITAJAIA YOGA FOUNDATION”

We are Officially Launching the Foundation in June, and will invite memberships then.  At our Launch Party we will have a sale of my latest angel paintings to start the Foundation with a bank balance (hopefully a very good one).  So, start saving your pennies so you too can have a wonderful angel painting.  They probably won’t be small.  No small ones have come through thus far, although I do have one left from my THOUSAND ANGEL PROJECT – a client ordered but did not collect (it happens).  Their loss, your gain.

OUR COMMUNITY,  OUR SANGHA

Please understand, when you become a trainee teacher, when you commit to yoga classes, you become part of a yoga community.  We don’t wear orange robes, but we are still a Sangha.  Think about it.  If you seek and receive health advice and recommendations from a student who relies on this for her/his living, respect that and support them in some way… don’t bypass them when it comes to following that advice by purchasing what they recommended on the web rather than from them (even if it costs a little more).

And, When you see things on our shelves, understand that this also is part of our income and how we do our outreach into the community.  Don’t take the numbers, or decide to save a dollar or two by going around us – realise that spending money with us and with our community helps the community.  It is part of being a part of a Sangha.  In our yoga classes we often do the “ Three Refuges”, listen to what you are saying.  You take refuge in the Sangha –  support it when you can.

NOA BELLING – YOGA HANDBOOK.  PLEASE…..WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE!

We will buy yours off you for $25 plus whatever is the postage cost.  Email us if you would like to sell yours, and Deb will call you to organise.   yogafirst2@bigpond.com

We get so many folk get back to us saying how wonderful this book is.  There is a later edition available with lots of black and white photos in it, but my favourite is the first edition which was all colour.  If you can find one, keep it close by – it is a wonderful resource.

YOGA CLASSES

Classes held at the Bentinck

THE HOME OF THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE

Cost:  $10 per person per class (or $100 a 12 class pass:  non–transferable).

$15 mum plus little yoga bub. $25 per family (mum, dad and two primary school children.

Young adults $10 each).

ABOUT THE HEALTH CENTRE RENOVATIONS:  We have moved our entrance,   just follow the path around to the other side of the building… We are not at the main house, don’t go there.   The pathway to the yoga room may be a bit cluttered, but this will change.  It is like watching a renovation game on TV. Not quite as fast however!

ABOUT THE CLASSES:  Jahne has gently turned her attention to THE RESTORATIVE YOGA sessions.  Of course she still teaches a full workload at Innisfree.   However,  her senior teachers have been gradually taking over her general/public Hatha Yoga classes.  They are loving it – and I believe you are loving the changes too.   If you want a private session, she is available by appointment.  Hypnotherapy/Trance Healing and past Life Therapy available as usual of course.

WHERE: “The Bentinck” is on the corner of the Romsey Road and the High Street in Woodend.  Enter from  the start of the Romsey Road only – the sign is big and clear .

PARKING:  If both sides of the car park are full when you arrive, please park over the road – you just have to walk across Romsey road to yoga, and that’s not such a hard thing.  Don’t park anywhere else.  As you enter the gate, park only to right or to the left – not straight ahead. That also is staff parking.

Saturday        9am Restorative Yoga 10am general class, 12.30 Restorative Yoga,

Because some of the classes are back to back, please check before you walk in.  Don’t assume the class has started, it may be the end of the last class.  There is a sitting area especially so you can wait for your class to start.

*RESTORATIVE YOGA (5 classes now – and growing)

They won’t always be with me.  As much as I love the classes, I must give other teachers a go at getting classes of their own.  RESTORATIVE YOGA …is a beautiful, gentle yoga which is done using lots of props and lots of time.  No balancing, no headstands, nothing but gentle stretches and rests.  You and/or a friend will love it especially if you have had surgery, are anxious, haven’t exercised for years, have a weight problem, or have a neurological problem.  It is also a PERFECT prenatal and postnatal session – if you are pregnant, please get a doctors certificate and bring it to your first class – not because I think you are unwell, but as it is an insurance requirement.

WATCH THE TIME – Don’t just wander in as if the only time that matters is yours.  Every minute of a one hour class is important, so it is important that you get to the class early.  When you arrive, be observant, and enter quietly.    PLEASE,  please be on time.

www.yogabeautiful.com.au  If you are looking for any changes in times and days, then please go to the web site.  You will find everything there.

NEXT TEACHER TRAINING CLASS –

The next will be on Sunday, the 6th March…..at the Bentinck – in the Yoga Room, enter through Romsey Road only.  Please join us.  If you are a distance ed. student then the cost of the afternoon is $10.  If you are a visitor you are most welcome – and if you are a visitor and not formally a student teacher with us then the cost is $20.

THE COTTAGE HEALING SPA AND SANCTUARY

We are at the stage of interviewing for interested consultants.   If you have a health/alternative skill, let us know.  You may be perfect for the Spa community.

Everything will change for you when you work out that there is plenty of time in every day to complete the important things.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – “AYI YOGA UNIVERSITY”

All our classes are available via distance education and you can start any time..  Thank you to those students who are moving from their 200 to another, higher course.  Once you have got into the habit of learning, then it is easy to keep going….   Within our school there are three levels of YOGA TEACHER TRAINING, plus a course in the Gita, the fundamental source of all yoga teaching through the ages.

1.    THE BHAGAVADGITA (YOGIC PHILOSOPHY)

2.    RYTA200 –  THE BASIC YOGA COURSE

3.    RYTA500 – THE NEXT STEP

which you can take in a number of ways.  Must start with 200 hours first.

4.    RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY TRAINING

5.    PPT Massage technique.  A stand-alone class, fully insurable.

Most people have never met, and don’t understand, that there are angels all around us whose only job is to make sure that you don’t get too comfortable, fall asleep and miss the important moments (and gifts) in your life.

THE SHOP and ETSY  www.myyogabooks.etsy.com

We recently were noticed in Mass. USA and we are getting a review for our posters and colouring book – if you had not noticed, colouring in is the new thing.  Best seller list stuff…

LET’S GET COLOURING IN:  This week I received an email from one of our students who had purchased the chakras and colouring book and REALISED THAT COLOURING THE DRAWINGS  WAS A MEDITATION.  I celebrated.  It has taken a year for a student to understand the reason for the drawings. THANK YOU!  THANK YOU! THANK YOU……!!!  They are being reviewed by a journalist in the USA who LOVED THEM.  She said that we were so “on trend”.

ALL OUR IN-HOUSE DVD’S AND CD’S ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS SITE.  Please remember that they are not flashy high cost productions.  They are made by Deb, Nic and me to answer your various questions.  They are useful in your course.

“YIN YOGA”, “FIVE TIBETANS”,  “THE YAMAS”,   “THE UN-MEDITATION COURSE”

YOGA SWINGS: Colours – *blue and grey, grey and black or pink and orange”,

“THE REVELATION TAROT”, “HOW-TO STUDY YOGA BY DISTANCE EDUCATION”,

“THE CHAKRAS – A COLOURING-IN BOOK and a REFERENCE BOOKLET”

“CHAKRA BOOKLET”, “ETERNITY THE PRAYER”, “THE PENDULUM BOARD AND COURSE”.

We also have a great piece of fun just come in.  It is a round tube like a hollow steering wheel with a ball inside.  I don’t go for these gimmicks, but this is fabulous for core and upper arms – a couple of minutes and you can really feel the difference..  Ring Deb and ask her about it.  $35 plus postage.

YIN YOGA/ANATOMY/MEDITATION DVD’s – all with Paul Grilley

This is one of my major sources of course and can be a source for you too.  BUY ALL THREE.  You will never regret it.   They are the best and will form the backbone of your yoga references.  Don’t hold back it will be false economy.   As I have told you before when I bought mine they cost $100 or so each.  I thought that this was a good investment.  I think half that is a steal! And that is what we are selling this for www.yogabeautiful.com.au

Paul Grilley has put out an on-line course which you might like to access – it is about the anatomy of a headstand. It is not on a DVD  – which is unfortunate, but I am hoping that at some stage it will be made available on disc.

We are getting in a new DVD about the HISTORY and fundamentals of the philosophy of yoga.  It has been out for about 18 months, but as you know, when they first come on the market they are more expensive.  We are now able to negotiate for a bulk deal, thus saving up front, and saving postage.

Lots of fabulous teachers are interviewed.  It is worthwhile  and I will let you know when we have it.

I move with the infinite in nature’s power.  I hold the fire of the soul.  I hold the life and healing”. (Rig Veda)

REGISTRATION/INSURANCE www.yogabeautiful.com.au

We are giving you total choice now, although it may be a bit more expensive…..

REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE HAVE BEEN UNCOUPLED.  YOU CAN BUY THEM SEPARATELY.  A DEARER OPTION, BUT IT SEEMS THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT.  WE AIM TO PLEASE.

YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so):

Signing up for a course – our course included, is like buying a car.  You can’t buy it, take it for one run, leave it in the garage and a year later go back to the dealer and ask for your money back.  It doesn’t work like that.  If you are on the course, you are on the course until you write and let us know that you are not.  If twelve months and more have elapsed with no contact in spite of all our newsletters, etc…. then you have (as far as we are concerned) been on the course for 12 months.

If you are a trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only.  Imagine if what would happen to our Institute if  you took three years to finish your course and you could still come to classes free for the entire course.  We do our fee calculation based on 12 months of free yoga classes.   Your training fees cover you for a year, after that we ask you to pay $10 per class.

I have found  if you paddle your boat it is easier to maintain the illusion of control, but I tell you it is so much more fun if you pull the oars in and just let the river take you where it will….

TAKE CLASSES WITH JAHNE ANYWHERE, ANY TIME.

VIDEOS:  THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL – THEY ARE NECESSARY! Only $275 per annum.

Please look down the list of the videos before you try to do stick drawings, or organise your journal.  I have shown you what I recommend. All you have to do is download.  I even did a video on ‘The Gita, and a number of philosophy videos for those who can’t come to class.  There will be more of these.  Good feedback thus far – thank you. Please.  Email us and Debbie will make sure that you are logged in promptly.

CONSULTS WITH JAHNE

If your question is a lifestyle issue, a domestic issue, or a personal issue and you want personal advice (counselling), then there is a charge.   The service is professional and there is an hourly rate.  Please enquire before you decide to make a booking.  Teacher Training issues at the moment are part of the course, and cost nothing – but you need to make an appointment.    Please,  respect Jahne’s 50 years of teaching and training.  Her time is valuable – it is all a matter of energy and exchange.  We are a Sangha.   Thank you.

REGARDING DEBBIE

If you want to speak to Debbie about any aspect of the courses – she has done them, please remember that she only comes in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  On those days she is available on Ph: 0354 273 518.

This time is NOT a counselling session.  She is much to lovely to stop you but some people stay on the phone for an hour or more.  Before you ring, plan what you want to say, get organised, and be gentle.  She has got a lot to do too. I am always available on email or text because I teach and am not always at my desk.  (I am not a beautiful as Debs and will get you to the heart of your need quickly).  Don’t hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can.

THE LAST WORD: I try to imagine life without being able to speak to God, but none of the days without that special energy have the same laughter, or opportunities…..
