Dear Yogis,
Whoopee do!!! I got a response to a post/newsletter.  Ali was a popular subject!

Don’t forget – tonite we are on our journey through the Gita, just beginning on Mondays again – our third reading of this transformational book – It is our regular Gita Journey.  It is not about the battlefield, it is about what we bring to the battle and how we fight.

Unfortunately we don’t have “The Gita according to Pooh” but we can hope.  I do think I will reprise THE CHILDRENS’ YOGA course.  At present only about 5% of children do regular exercise.  I have been trying to get schools interested for years, but teaching yoga to parents, and then to their children is a more direct and successful route, and both the children and their parents love yoga once we can get them off the sofa and into the classroom..

NAMASTE – JAHNE

Dear Yogis,
Because Kyneton Windarring is locked down because of Covid, I am at home for an extended period, and I am accepting more items of clothing to be remade, re-imagined and fixed – even darning which I love, jeans where the rips have taken over?   I DO NOT do “quick fixes” everything is considered, loved and re-made to have a second life. So email me with a photo of the item you want to have, or re-love , and I will give you a quote and a time line.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com

We are on our journey through the Gita, just beginning on Mondays again – our third reading of this transformational book.  Relative to the gita, I found this quote, and it said a lot about Arjuna’s journey so I am sharing it.

“……….In the real hero’s journey, the dragon slays YOU. Much to your surprise, you couldn’t make that marriage work. Much to your surprise, you turned forty with no kids, no house, and no prospects. Much to your surprise, the world didn’t want the gifts you proudly offered it.

If you are foolish, this is where you will abort the journey and start another, and another, abusing your heart over and over for the brief illusion of winning.

But if you are wise, you will let yourself be shattered, and return to the village, humbled, but with a newfound sense that you don’t have to identify with the part of you that needs to win, needs to be recognized, needs to know. This is where your transcendent life begins.

So embrace humility in everything. Life isn’t out to get you, nor are your struggles your fault.
Every defeat is just an angel, tugging at your sleeve, telling you that you don’t have to keep banging your head against the wall.
Leave that striver there, trapped in his lonely ambitions. Just walk away, and life in its vastness will embrace you.
—Paul Weinfield
I have also been thinking about the journey in life taken by Muhammed Ali – the “Barnum and Bailey of Boxing” I think, but underneath was a spiritual man, who put everything on the line for his faith.  He was not just a boxer.  We forget that at the time of his greatest boxing victories,  America was rocked by the assassination of Malcolm X, JFK and his brother, Jack Ruby, Martin Luther King and so on.  There were riots, and racial discrimination on an epic scale.  Not much democracy as we know it.  Ali refused conscription because he said he felt more in common with the Vietnamese than with white Americans, which he still saw as slave owners, and called it out.  Very brave.  When he won Olympic gold he was still not able to drink where he wanted, eat where he wanted, go where he wanted, and associate with whom he wanted, so he threw the gold medal in the river.
Through it all  he kept his faith, and his beliefs, and at the end of the day had won everything back and more – The Gita Journey.  It is not about the battlefield, it is about what we bring to the battle and how we fight.

NAMASTE – JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

We are told about how COVID is on the move again,  and it has struck at Windarring in Kyneton.  Therefore I have this Tuesday and Thursday off, the same next week until the all clear is notified. I will be able to get cards and prints done and stocked in the Mt.Macedon gallery, and in Etsy – so the time off is “God given” as far as I am concerned.   I can also prepare for our “Midnite” Sewing Bee.  Well the churches now have Christmas Midnite mass at 9.30pm,  and my Midnite Sewing Bee starts at 7.30pm on the 1st December.

CHAMPAGNE AND ANGELS : A marginally alcoholic SEWING experience… Friday 1st December starting 7.30 at the Morris Road Studio.  Cost:  $65.00 which includes everything, and you get to take home a beautiful artwork you have made (I will help to make it memorable).. The background to your sewing is one of my own little masterpieces on silk, ready to frame. Please book. yogafirst2@bigpond.com

The Studio:   If you’re looking for a fun and unique activity for your friends on a Friday night (or a Christmas Gift for a friend – we have vouchers), you should try out Champagne and Angels at our Woodend Studio (Morris Road Studio). If you’re tired of the terrible television offering and another night at the pub, why not head to a fabric art class with friends where you can sip on champagne and eat chocolates…?

You don’t need to be an experienced sewer or even painter to join. If you can hold a needle, and do straight stitching then that is enough.  Our Fabulous Fridays fabric art sessions ensures that everyone, whether they are beginners to seasoned artists, will have a great time while also picking up a new skill – and have an angel artwork to take home with them at the end of the evening.

Description:   Join us as we add twinkling swirls of sewing to your own silk angel that Jahne has created for this evening, to  create your very own masterpiece. This session is for 18+ only, we provide the chocolates, champers and glassware.  Also there are beads, fabrics and anything you would like to add to your piece.  I even help you to prepare it for framing.

What we offer:  All sessions include guidance to assist you in releasing your inner artist. The only thing you’ll need to bring is some nibbles and your imagination.  (I am asked to remind you that Morris Road Studio is strictly smoke-free inside or outside (including e-cigarettes or vaping) and smoking is not permitted under any circumstances).

CARDS AND PRINTS:  I am working on mounting original silk angels onto cards for Christmas.  I will let you know on Friday if I have made them available on etsy, and at the Gallery.
