DearYogis,

I slept in yesterday after a late nite and midnite mass.  I rarely sleep in.  I did last month after a busy week of deadlines, and again yesterday, but i feel great – and I love the rain even though it means I can’t Christmas by the pond.  I am writing this (and painting on tea bags and on canvas) instead.

During Covid I sent you a newsletter every day, and now although there is no covid, there is an epidemic of anxiety, and i do have a way that you can change your life if like me you worry.  I used to be hugely anxious, I think my life would have been very different if I had known this key.  Well I had the key I just didn’t trust it would work.  What is it? It is easy!  My life has changed since i started really TALKING TO GOD, and more importantly TAKING NOTICE OF THE ANSWERS even if i think they make no sense at the time.

I remember years ago visiting a friend who was painting her house.  When I arrived she was standing quietly looking at an unpainted wall and various cans of paint waiting to be opened.  I asked her what she was waiting for and she replied “I have asked God what colour to use and I am waiting for an answer” then having received an answer started to direct the way the wall was to be painted.

In a way it was the same as Margrit Segesman “waiting for a breath”.  At the time, painting the wall I thought, how ridiculous!  God hasn’t got time to help with paint colours!  Now I know how liberating it can be if we will make friends with that still small voice, and 1. consult it for every little thing and then 2.  do what the voice says!  Yes, God (?) does have time and wants to help you with paint colours, and every other little decision in your life.  Imagine if you could have a trusted advisor with you at all times – well, you can and you have.  You are not listening…   Remember what I told you all through Covid – “Nothing can happen that is not the Will of God – trust this”.

Yesterday I spoke to a friend about a bird.  A thirsty little bird lands in an unseasonally icy field.  She doesn’t grumble and groan, or feel hard done by, or say “why me”, neither does she think of Christmas past, or yesterday.  She just sits conserving her energy as best she can until the sun rises (which she somehow knows it will) drinks the water provided by the melting frost, sings, and flies away.

Have a lovely Christmas dinner – the weather is perfect for yule logs, and big roasts.  Remember that children are drip dry and love getting wet and muddy.  So much more fun than sitting in front of a computer.

Call me when you are ready for your tarot…..You can have a report on line and hard copy booklet sent to you (opportunities, lessons, challenges). Let me know if this interests you yogafirst2@bigpond.com   NAMASTE – JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

This MAY be the last newsletter before Christmas.  Thank you all so much for your love and support as we march towards a new year, I do what I do because of you, and for you.  I hope that you have a wonderful family time (“gentle” family time).

For myself, I am looking forward to a quiet time – I have a cat, a great book, French cheese and some memorable champers – what more does one need?  Yoga classes have finished for the year, as have the zoom sessions.

By the way, my new hearing aids from the magnificent Lillian at the Neale Street Clinic near Coles in Woodend,  means that I can hear very well for the first time in YEARS.  It is taking me some time to get used to all the new sounds (I can of course turn sound OFF – you may not be able to do this!).  They do look rather prosthetic, but such is the price to hear you all very well.

HOLIDAY TIMES

YOGA CLASSES start again on the 8th of January (and at Windarring on the 9th)

ZOOM GITA Classes (we are also using GITA WISDOM CARDS in this class) also start on the 8th January at 6.30.

TAROT is available as usual by appointment – I am now consulting to business in India and Kenya using the Gita Wisdom Cards.  This is very satisfying as the clients actually know and we can speak about,  the yamas and other philosophical aspects of the cards.  These are not a simple readings (with an extensive written transcript at the end) and the cost at the moment for such a reading is AUD$575.00. Post Christmas, the cost TO YOU for a tarot reading in the Woodend studio (without transcript) is $125.

ART BAGS.  I am making a range of art canvas bags relating to the canvas sizes at THE ALCHEMIST in Kyneton.  If you buy a canvas from them, you can get a carry/storage bag from me which relates to the specific size.  Prices for these bags made from recycled denim,  start at $50.  I use them too of course, they are so handy to store my artworks safely and conveniently, and for carrying works to show clients.

STUDIO GALLERY:  I am opening my Little Art Gallery at the studio with a preview (by invitation) on the 9th February, and then the Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th from 2.30pm.  I have been working towards art pieces for this exhibition, but they have been selling as I finish them… so I am not sure how many will be available on the day. But you can always just come for a chat, and to discuss ways I might be able to help you.

Thank you all again for everything.  I am so looking forward to seeing you all in the new year, at classes, for the tarot, or in my little gallery.

Dear Yogis,

It is Christmas break.  STUDY THE GITA WITH US – the third time through this amazing text.Every Monday at 6.30 on zoom (by donation).

Let us take a voyage through the sacred texts together—not to go back in time, but rather to discover how this universal ancient wisdom can spark the answers we need to live more fully today. Explore how these teachings can help in every area of life: work, family, relationships, emotions, spirituality…

We start by studying the book The Bhagavad Gita, which shares the interpretation of this scripture by Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the bestselling classic Autobiography of a Yogi.

What is the Bhagavad Gita?  The Bhagavad Gita is an ancient scripture based on the conversation between the God-like being Krishna and the leader of the Pandava army, Arjuna, as they begin the war of Kurukshetra in the longest epic in the world, the Mahabharata.   This battle is an allegory of the spiritual path with the five Pandava brothers trying to overcome the bad habits represented by their cousins, the 100 Kaurava brothers. The Pandava brothers each stand for one of the first five chakras and represent the more positive qualities of man like divine calmness and self-control.

Krishna imparts his wisdom upon Arjuna as if he is a devotee seeking the true path towards enlightenment. Their conversation reveals a greater universal understanding of meditation and life. It leaves the space for us to choose how to apply that knowledge to our own lives and discover our fullest potential.

Why I study the Bhagavad Gita:   This book has made it easier for me to relate to the spiritual path because it does not command us exactly what to do. It invites us to share the consciousness that we wish to uphold, and then it is up to us to figure out how to apply that understanding in our own unique way in each of our lives.

It can transform your life by inviting a deeper grasp of truth, of other people and of how to relate most smoothly and calmly to this world. It can guide to create a life with less tension where  grace flows more smoothly and effortlessly. It helps in the quest to understand how a meditation practice relates to daily life. It invites you to share more love. It has layers of depth so it can be read over and over with something new to learn and comprehend each time. I wish everyone could share the potential ease in life gained from the wisdom in this book.

Is the Bhagavad Gita Timeless?   With over 23 million people watching Game of Thrones, why do we question if people would be interested in reading about outdated battle scenes or ways of living. Of course, the ancient scripture, Bhagavad Gita, is not meant for entertainment, but to find an understanding  that awakens people to their highest possibilities.  I believe the intention behind the Bhagavad Gita is to lay a supportive foundation that can be applied to any path and any life.
