Dear Yogis,

OK you have had a rest, and now we have to contemplate going back to “work”, which for me is the yoga classes.
The weekday classes are all as usual – timetable below –  and they start this coming Monday the 8th January.  I look forward to seeing you all.

For those of you who are new trainee yoga teachers.  I have made an executive decision (as you lot were all over the shop).  The next Teacher Training class in the studio will be the 21st January at 2.30.  Please, please make an effort to come along.  You don’t HAVE to of course, but if you haven’t got time to come to a once month teacher training, are you going to have enough time to actually teach?  There are some things that are better to experience in the studio.

The picture on the left is the finished painting of Krishna.  This may be in the Gallery Opening Exhibition in February if it is not sold prior, in which case a Limited Edition print and cards will be available.  I do have a Limited Edition Print of the painting “They Came From The Stars” which sold before  it even got on the wall.

The Little Gallery Preview will be Friday the 9th February starting at 5.30, but you my students can make an appointment and come see what I am up to any time I am free.  I am trying valiantly to get a few things on the wall for the preview.  If I was Chris Canning I would not have to even think about it – she realised $239,000 for a painting at auction before Christmas.  That says a lot for the market for art at the moment – it is on the “up”.  I remember her first big time exhibition (her subject matter has not changed – flowers).  It was at The Art Exchange in Flinders Street, and even then –  about 25+ years ago, people were waiting around the block to get in and she sold out on the first day. It was a sensation.   Persistence and patience pays off.

Dear Yogis,

It is the first day of the new year, and those who have not finished the TEACHER TRAINING COURSE might like to revisit – just to finish.

If you haven’t contacted us in a long while there is a charge to get you out of the archives, and all the too’ing and fro’ing involved in re-starting, but believe me, it is worth it.  Yoga is on the way up.  We have sat in the doldrums for some time, this means you could be ahead of the game.  I don’t think we will re-run the “glory days” when we taught out of the studio and did three classes of teacher training a week, but you can still finish.

If you want to finish, I will make an extra special deal.  You will have to register.  That is $195 (for the first year) in order to restart.  Normally I charge $250 plus registration, or more depending how long back we have to search for you,  and what is needed to be done to get you back on track.  $195 is fair, and you will receive Student Registration in exchange.  If you are not already teaching, this will mean that you can teach,  and you can apply for student insurance to cover you until you graduate.  You will still have to complete your course. This is not a freebie certification.

If you are a newbie and have thought about teaching and held back – now is the time to move forward.  I know you can get a quickie training – 200 hours – and you can do it in no time at all, but will you able to teach anyone, anywhere. I guess there will come a time when you can learn in a weekend from the back of a Kellogs Packet – but will it be useful?   Will you be able to teach in Europe, in the Med or Monaco like some of our graduates?  Will you be the best? Probably not.

The picture is of the fabulous Inn in Death Valley USA.  It is a favourite place of mine, and I taught there when Pres. Bush visited.  I spoke with Laura, but security won out and she didn’t come to our class although she wanted to – but went for a walk instead so she could be adequately guarded (even on the toilet).

We are expensive (it costs what it costs), the training is at least a year, but you can do it in your own time.  If you like study, if you like learning, you will like our course.  If you just want something to tide you over until the next thing comes along, then maybe we are not for you.

Whichever category you fit into, please contact me if you want to move forward.  Let’s do this thing.

NAMASTE – JAHNE  yogafirst@bigpond.com.

Dear Yogis,

The first day of ’24 is still and quiet, I wouldn’t mind just a splattering of rain.  I think I do live in “Camelot” but it is missing the rain at night (better than fire insurance).  This year is going to be magnificent, the numbers are all adding up.  I always check the numerology for the year, and I hope you do too – some people watch their numbers in magazines or newspapers, but they are so general to be hardly useful.

I am loving my time off – although I do miss my yoga classes, they will be returning soon.  What have I been doing?  Mainly painting and drawing, yesterday I put another undercoat on my canvases for the next paintings.  Sometimes I put 5 undercoats on the canvas before I am ready to paint.  This now is almost the minimum.

The beautiful painting “We Come From The Stars” has sold, and now  I am working on the portrait of Krishna  (50cms x 60 cms).   I am just loving the image.  As Master Creator of the Universe (of everything – of time), my Krishna has the power and the symbols that imply that power – A diadem and jewels of the planets and stars.

“The man who sees me in everything and everything within me will not be lost to me, nor will I ever be lost to him.

He who is rooted in oneness realizes that I am in every being; wherever he goes, he remains in me.

When he sees all beings as equal in suffering or in joy because they are like himself, that man has grown perfect in yoga.”  The ‘Gita.

THE GALLERY STUDIO – For the first time in many years I am opening a Gallery Studio in my home.  I have been looking for a card stand for the entrance, and on Saturday after days of looking and dithering,  I decided that whatever it took I would get one, no more looking after Saturday.

I looked on-line and they were all too big and too expensive, so I went to local stores and could find nothing, and nothing able to be adapted.  On the way home I decided to drop into the little Wildlife Op Shop, and as I parked, there in front of me was the perfect card stand – they had just put it out.  It even came to bits, fit beautifully in my little car for the ride home and fitted perfectly into the spot I had nominated.  That goodness I waited.  It was a sign don’t you think?

A SPECIAL GALLERY PREVIEW and a 10% discount.   WHEN:  Friday 9th February 2024 At 5.30pm – Champagne and nibbles of course.

Then Saturday and Sunday 2.30 to 5pm.   WHERE:  37 Morris Road, Woodend.  When you come to my place for any reason and especially for the gallery,  please park (up close) on the white gravel or around the corner in Mt.Macedon Road.

You are welcome to come before then of course, but please email me and make an appointment.  I don’t sit in my studio all day, it would drive me nuts – I have lots to do, even on holidays.

I look forward to seeing you.

NAMASTE, JAHNE
