Dear Yogis,

What a rainstorm last night…  I was out at 10.30 in the rain dealing with an overflow.  All good this morning – God has mopped up thank goodness.

This weekend is a special one for me, my dolls are showing at The Mt.Macedon Gallery (on Mt.Macedon Road, just down from The Trading Post), and the BOTANICAL ART CLASS starts on Sunday at 2.30.  If you want to see me at the gallery and have a look at the dolls or talk about art or the bears the I would be pleased to see you.  I arrive at 10 and leave around 1pm.

YOGA IN YOUR COMMUNITY.

I am sure that you have been reading about the short fall in staff at nursing homes and care facilities.
This means that yoga is a welcome class now in facilities which in the past had no need of extra activities, and were well staffed.  This is no longer the case.

If you are a yoga teacher, and you are short of students and classes, you will be welcomed by people with SPECIAL NEEDS.  I am racking up the classes and loving every minute of this rather steep learning curve.  I keep thinking can I fit in another class, probably.   If you sign up for my little short course on ABLE2 YOGA  it will prepare you for work in your community.

I put the picture of Lady Di in the newsletter because she went out and did her version of “Yoga” in her community.  She sat, she listened, she did what she could, with what she had, where she was, and it worked for her, and a yoga version can work for you.

I am making the mistakes and learning from them for you.  You could do a Cert III or IV in assisting at these facilities.  I explored this, however,  I have been discouraged because it is not exactly relative to what I am actually doing – which is teaching “yoga”, or a special yoga that fits with people with SPECIAL NEEDS.

If you are interested, please respond to this call out.  There will be zoom sessions and modules as usual.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com

NAMASTE.

Good morning.

Yesterday evening I posted a reminder to all those among you who would like to join my SUNDAY AFTERNOON BOTANICAL ART CLASS (champagne optional).  Sunday the 9th October for four weeks, $85 for the four.  We will start by learning how to master the materials we need to use, and see where this leads us.

Please bring: Sharp 4B, 2B and HB graphite pencils, scalpel, stomps, a small piece of fine sandpaper and a small plastic pot for pencil shavings.  You will also need a A4 orA3 sketch book.  All these are available from the art shop and office shop in Kyneton or the Chinese shops in Gisborne or Woodend, and some items at the Woodend news agency.

You can pay via our web site www.yogabeautiful.com.au and click on PayviaPayPal.

There is a more ADVANCED ART CLASS ON A FRIDAY at 11am. $260 for four classes.  We will presume a certain skill in pencil and move onto colour and brushes.  You can use my materials until you know which medium is your favourite.

“ABLE2 YOGA”

This could be called Tibetan Yoga, but if I did that hardly anyone would come except those who were experienced yoga practitioners, and that is “preaching to the choir” as they say.  I am loving teaching yoga to people who haven’t ever done yoga, or have done it as a group movement class.  In my ABLE2 yoga classes we (or I) am working on quietening the inner winds – which are the key to yoga.  The first step is to open the knots, some of which were laid down at the time of our conception.

We are not quite up to chanting at our ABLE2 classes but we will go there because singing is good for our heart.  It is like putting all our good thoughts in one place and building a person, an angel out of them.  This angel the Tibetans call Chenresik which means “The Angel Which Looks Upon Us With Eyes of Love”, and more than this they believed that each Dalai Lama was in reality this Angel.

When we chant in Sanskrit it helps release the knots in our inner channels.  The sound of OM, the easiest to teach, opens us up to be more kind to others in our thoughts, our words, and our deeds.  Don’t be shy, sing out, have you class join in…. As a class you can chant om, or  when you are on your own, then repeat the name of a special person or being who has meant a lot to you in your life.  Anyone who inspires in you a feeling of heart kindness.

I WILL SEE YOU ON THE MAT.
