LITTLE WOMEN: What has this got to do with yoga? Well, ”Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott was a favourite book of mine in primary school. (More loved even than HEIDI). I always play acted being Jo March. After a few false starts – she was pretty headstrong – Jo ended up running a boys school and marrying Professor Bhaur (if I recall). I never did find “Professor Bhaur”, but feel that I have been running a school for boys (A Yoga School at The Bentinck) and I am building up my school again. It is not acting now, and I am a pretty good Jo March (but not a fabulous Katherine Hepburn who played her in the original movie).

I am not just teaching yoga, I am teaching people lots of different subjects. Yoga of course, meditation, pendulum dowsing, Sumii painting, A Tarot reading Course, Thangkha painting.. and there will be more. We will have different subjects on different days, and I will be able to develop and increase all the subjects I am curious about. Join me. My mother said I was a “butterfly”, not in the sense of beautiful, but flitting from one thing to another. Fifty years teaching yoga is hardly “flitting”, so I will stretch my wings now, while I have time.

AT THE STUDIO:   We are trying to make sense of our emails and phones with the shift from the Bentinck. Please transfer all your account queries to Jacky at yogafirst@optusnet.com.au If you want a direct answer from me, then as usual, yogafirst2@bigpond.com.

This morning I taught at the Uniting Church, next door to the Police Station in Woodend.. It was fantastic. I just so love teaching… then we had a lunch provided to the community (not just us) by the Church. Home-made pumpkin soup, veg soup, cakes of all kinds, warm fresh breads, bagels, fruit platter… . The Hare Krishna group would call it Prasadam. It is such a loving space. Then we did meditation in the church. It was gorgeous to meditate in a sacred space. The very high ceilings have to be accommodated. I had to turn the music up, and speak louder. The whole morning was wonderful, please join us. One of our newest students said as she left “that was fantastic – I just didn’t realise how much was made available for us, and so close by… I will be here every week”. We have lots ofspace for lots more students, and I am hoping for a group of stronger yogis on a Friday afternoon at 3pm.   Experience not necessary.

YOGA CLASSES: are filling up. Please, if you say you are coming, come. If you can’t, then please let me know. My home Studio is not huge, and I want to take as many as I can, but I can’t hold your place if you only come occasionally. If you have told me you are coming to a specific class then I hold the place for you – it could mean I turn someone away which is unfortunate if you don’t come. Of course, if you want a private class to suit your very own special timetable, I can do that, but the cost is $85.

PAINTING CLASSES:

Our Tuesday night MEDITATION MANDALA painting classes are progressing fabulously well, and we are booking for the next set of 5 classes for September. 4th September to 2nd October.

Go to www.jahnehopewilliams.com to see more, and email me to book your spot.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com.

THANGKHA PAINTING CLASSES – TUESDAYS from7pm- 9pm

COST $250 for 5 classes – Two more classes for the first session to go, but we are taking September bookings.

All materials will be provided. Start Date for next classes: 4th September

By the end of the class you will have a unique image to take home, and frame to put in your own meditation room. Maybe good enough, stunning enough to be an heirloom. No painting experience needed. If you are nimble enough to sign your own name, you can do these classes.

SUMII (ZEN YOGA) BRUSHPAINTING – “ONE BREATH ONE LINE”

Fridays 12.30 and 6.30pm and Saturdays at 9am and 2.30.

Our first class on Saturday morning was fantastic, and the students even started painting bamboo. I tempted them with painting of goldfish, but bamboo is where we are at. It was interesting to see how much more focused the yoga class at 10 was after we had spent an hour painting.

This is the traditional painting on rice paper, but with a twist. On the longer Friday and Saturday afternoon classes, we will be doing it the “zen way” and painting things that can’t be painted. Love, joy, yoga, spirit, speed…etc etc.   No right, no wrong, just what you can do. Your expression. We will be using traditional materials, we will be doing yoga breathing, AND A PAINTING will be the result.. Grind the ink, use the brush, paint the painting….. Sounds easy, BUT as in yoga, the foundations are everything.

PAINTINGS and THE FOUNDATION

The art show went well, and we even received have some donations towards the Foundation. If you were unable to come to the show, and would like to donate please direct debit any amount to The GitaJaia Yoga Foundation, Commonwealth Bank in Woodend. 063806 10200584. Any amount will help, no matter how small.

Please come to the show, please buy a painting. It all goes to The Foundation. The next showing will focus on THE TAROT.

MY PENDULUM

Please… if you want a session, WE CAN DO.   Even at a distance. We can identify additional minerals and supplements, balance your diet, test for food sensitivities…. Health, business whatever. $55 one question, $75 two questions $150 for a general life reading for people who are stuck. On the farm I never made a change without dowsing first. If you want to see if it makes a difference go see what the farm has become without the magic of dowsing – it is a dying jungle.  When I was there, I used the rods to help place large stones and statues, plant trees 9we planted many, many tress), design the gardens, and place dams and bridges.  Without me, and the pendulum, the garden is a forgotten dying plot.  On the other hand.    Come and see the garden around the studio – I don’t get as much time as I would like, BUT, it is enough, and you can see the bones of the garden in the winter.  A hugely productive garden, all helped by The pendulum and dowsing rods.  I can help you plan yours, or show you how to use the pendulum and rods so you can do it for yourself.

AT THE STUDIO

YOGA CLASSES:

AS I said last week. There are heaps of changes. Mainly we have departed the Bentinck after about 6 years there, and another 4 working specifically in Rehabilitation from Substance Abuse with Innisfree (the cream of the crop with regards to rehab.)  It is amazing how much you can accumulate in that time.

I told you about the move – I sent a newsletter to classroom students, I put a notice on the yoga studio door, I spoke in class, I sent out a hard copy newsletter, and still people come and say “I went to the Bentinck and you weren’t there!  Where are you”.  And they do that whilst standing in front of the notice on the door.

Below the photograph is of the studio, and the Buddha I have painted purple.  After 25 years  “The Blue lady” totally shattered in the cold.  I have repainted the little sign on the plinth, and hung the Prayer Flags.  I am so thrilled about the studio and how it is looking.  We have the side entrance with the Japanese walk, tomorrow the new lighting is being organised, and everything looks amazing..  It is like I always thought it could be.  I just would like it to be a bit bigger, but maybe that is in the future.  When I was in San Francisco at The Golden Gate Yoga Studio, Chai Tea was always available at the end of class.  In Spain at our sister studio there,  everyone met for Tapas afterwards…  We have honey kombucha, gluten free polenta cake, and dried apricots and pears.  Wish you could be here.   All we need is you.  ART AND YOGA.

PAINTING CLASSES: (all materials provided).

The date of the first painting class with me was 24th July. Have you missed the first class? If you read this and want to join in please email me at yogafirst2@bigpond.com… It is not a good option, but you can join the next class.    I teach art like I teach yoga – we start with the foundations. Not only will you leave with a beautiful artwork, you will have an heirloom piece.

Go to www.jahnehopewilliams.com to see more, and email me to book your spot.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com.

TUESDAYS:   from7pm- 9pm

COST $250 for 5 classes – all materials will be provided. Start Date: 24th July.

By the end of the class you will have a unique image to take home, and frame to put in your own meditation room. Maybe good enough, stunning enough to be an heirloom. No painting experience needed, you will need to be able to sign your own name.  If you have missed a class, please leave your name for the next.

SUMII PAINTING – SATURDAYS: 2.30 to 4.30.   This is the traditional Brush painting on rice paper. Grind the ink, use the brush, paint the painting….. Sounds easy, BUT the foundations are everything.COST: $175 for 5 classes.

I plan to organise an art show at REDS  for the students who have gone through our painting classes.  The works is worth it – you are worth it.

PAINTINGS and THE FOUNDATION

The art show went well, and we even received have some donations towards the Foundation. Please come to the show,  drop in to Red Restaurant next to the Commonwealth Bank in Woodend.  please buy a painting. It all goes to The Foundation.

TEA AND TAROT

I started doing tea leaf reading again at the Art Show. I had forgotten how much I like this connection with people. It was great fun and I will be doing more. If you would like a reading please email me and organize a time around my yoga teaching time. yogafirst2@bigpond.com

I have read tea leaves for years, (my mum, my aunts, all read tea-leaves too),  but I have slowed down over the last 12 months… I will be appearing regularly at REDS in Woodend from Sunday 12th August at 2pm.  If you want to speak to me about the art being exhibited, or come to class, or have your tea leaves done at that time – I am yours.  I am also available to read the tea leaves any other time in the week and weekend when I am not teaching.    The cost of the reading – $85 for about 40 minutes which will encompass a review and one major question.  I also use the tarot in my readings.  Which one?  My own of course – The Revelation tarot.  The photo below.  Recently I found a new printer who updated the printing technique which resulted in a gorgeous silk finish.  This printer also professionally cut the corners, which has made an amazing difference not just to the quality, but also to the time it takes me to prepare a set.

Hope to hear from you soon.  For more information about Tea Leaf Reading go to www.teaandtarot.moonfruit.com  or for any enquiries about yoga or art (or readings)  email me at yogafirst2@bigpond.com.

Good morning,

Just to keep you all in the loop.

My time at The Bentinck is coming to an end, and we are changing the class venues, but not the times.  The Monday morning classes are new.

I am starting the “By donation” yoga classes at The Uniting Church Hall in Woodend  on Monday 6th August.  We will start at 11am then FREE community lunch is at 12 followed by meditation (Yoga Nidra that i used to do at The Bentinck) at 1pm until about 2pm – all BY DONATION.  The next “By Donation” Hatha class  will be held on the following Friday at 3pm.  Please keep in mind that these classes are ALL By Donation.  No need to book – just come in.

Our usual Classes, Monday – 6.30pm, Wednesday – 5.30pm Restorative/6.30pm Hatha,  Friday – Meditation 6.30pm, Saturday – 10am Hatha, 11.30am Philosophy and 12.30 Restorative  will be held at home studio (37 Morris Road in Woodend), and will start on Monday 30th July.

We will soon be starting MUMS+ONE with Charlie, and probably a kids yoga too.

Art Classes will start this Tuesday (tomorrow) at 7pm at The Home Studio.  We will be painting a Tibetan style Meditation Mandala.

The Art Show and Tea-Leaf reading at REDS last weekend was lovely, and has encouraged me to keep painting and to keep reading tea leaves.  I have done it for years, but have slowed down over the last 12 months… I will be appearing regularly at REDS in Woodend from Sunday 12th August at 2pm.

Namaste.  Jahne
