Yogis,

Don’t forget, tomorrow, Saturday is the Yoga Lunch – I think i have been mentioning it in prior newsletter and I hope that you have paid attention.  I love seeing you all.

In the meantime I have been drawing, painting and yoga – I am offering YOGA FOR ADDICTION RECOVERY.  If you know anyone who needs this therapy, please tell them to come.  I will be having an enrolment day on the 2nd November (yes, its like that), I want people to want it.  If they just want to jump around in lycra, then that is not me, that is not how I teach.

I would like more time to settle into my garden, but that is not how the garden works either.

My paintings at the moment are botanical miniatures, or theosophical explorations (I love “the shroud”), but who know what comes next.

TELEVISION DOCUMENTARIES:  We have watched gorgeous 2 hour docos about Westwood, Guggenheim, John Galliano, BKS Iyengar, and coming up – documentaries about “Cosmic Fire” the start of Kundalini Yoga, The Dalai Lama,  Yogananda, and the Art of David Bromley – heaps and they are all worth watching.

Dear Yogis,

The little TeaBag painting is part of a number I have done with a focus on the alphabet.  Prints, originals cards…. I am doing some MINIATURE linocut prints.
I have an exhibition in Kyneton next year with a largish room to inhabit, plus Christmas is coming and I would like to have an exhibition in my own studio prior to that.  Getting the balance right is they key – I am learning.

I didn’t get to the disability Conference in Melbourne on Friday, although I did get to the City.  The rain was monsoonal with hail promised and try as I might I just couldn’t get down to South Bank without the possibility of being totally drowned…. The rain was relentless,  and I didn’t want to sit in cold wet clothes all day.   The hail didn’t eventuate but I did manage to get to The  Theosophical Society – they are stocking my prints and cards, and they have the WONDERFUL library, I never come out without a book or two and usually not the ones I went in for! Then there is the shop, so if you want the gongs, books, all the things that were at the old and glorious building, then come here.  I am getting used to the building but it is not as “welcoming”, although the staff certainly is.

I was encouraged to use the community bus to get around locally in the rain, so I did, and what a great experience it was.  Out community bus (unlike the bigger buses in other towns) will come when you call, and is small enough to get around the little backroads.  All in all it was worth trying and at $1.40 per trip there is nothing to grumble about.  I will be using it more often.  They even offered to pick me up from the railway station, but I managed the 100 yards to the bus stop between showers.

I did do a bit of investigation because it was suggested that we move our Yoga Lunches to The Mount Pub, but reliable sources have said they are not up to more than a table for two, and even that has “iffy” reviews.  The last time 8 of us went for lunch it was a woeful experience, and I decided that it is not yet ready to reliable deal with our yoga lunch, so we are staying with “The Full Moon Saloon” in Woodend.  Out last meal there was splendid, and the cook has even suggested that we pre-order our lunch to get the meal we would like.

NAMASTE
JAHNE

Hi Yogis,

Last week I made an experimental week – I only posted on Monday.  Nobody noticed so I guess once is enough.  I think once is NEVER enough, but that is just me.  It takes a while to do three or even two newsletters a week, and as none of you noticed or posted, I will persist with the one a week – if you want more, then it is up to you to make a noise.

What happened last week? As I said I found a distributor of Vellum that I am printing card images on.  It is beautiful, gives soft and lovely images, and so different to printing on paper.  The distributor is in Shepparton, so not far away, although it does take more that two days to get to Woodend.  On the plus side the paper is securely packaged and just could not be damaged by Australia Post unless they really focussed.

ART SALE.  The Lions Club had a sale of art works on Sunday, frames, prints, odds and ends that people brought to raise money for the food bank charity.  I thought it was a good idea, but none of the items were  marked with a price, and the idea was that you negotiated with the person in charge when you found something you liked.  I was not a fan of the method.

If they had followed Windarrings lead, they could have put stickers on each (a great system) – red for $5, green for $10, blue for $20 and so on, we could have all been clear and I think more would have been sold.  I found one or two I liked but no way was I going to barter and pay too much for a badly framed print.  I did see people pay $50 for very ordinary poster style prints, not originals.   I would rather save my money and put it towards an original at The Mount Macedon Gallery, or Art on Piper, as much as I thought that the charity was sorely in need of every dollar.

At the end of the day there was not many gaps where items had sold, and the organiser said that he was going to take to left overs to the op shops, and the canvasses to the schools to paint over!
