THOUGHTS FOR TODAY.

I was thinking about the “drought” that broke for us yesterday. It was a shortish drought (and a shortish downpour), but nevertheless, the trees were stressed and in spite of watering, everything in the garden had started to retire – probably wondering whether to move into winter a bit earlier than planned. After the rain the garden relaxed, dams and streams were refreshed, but, the aquifers I am sure have started to diminish and they take much longer to fill. It is very much like life. We can go through bad times, then the trouble clears, but deep down, the healing takes a whole lot longer, and it will only happen if we keep feeding good and positive thoughts into our personal aquifers. It can look good on the surface, but what is happening deep down.

THE NEW “Qi” (QUANTUM) YOGA at The Australasian Yoga Institute. I am working on the new DVD’s. One on hypermobility and one on a yoga routine that I have devised and fallen in love with. I am doing about 2 hours of my own yoga every day, and feel FANTASTIC. I have send around personal invitations to a new and personal course, very close to my heart, and personally taught by me. I have only sent out to those people I think may be interested. Email me if I have neglected to contact you.

THE BHAGAVADGITA

“Beware, beware (as Margaret says) She is studying again”… Yes, I am, and there is an aspect of the Gita I have been bringing to my students that EVERYONE seems to have overlooked. My students tell me of enlightening experiences in meditation (some have even told me that they are ‘enlightened”?) however, they seem unable to bring that consciousness off the cushion. They get drawn back into the everyday conflicts and challenges by samskaras or imprints. This is the state they are in as they prepare to enter the battlefield (metaphysical or no).

The discriminatory powers as portrayed by the five Divine sons of Pandu to be ignited within the student (the yogi) are what we have not paid attention to. These 5 Pandavas are the central heroic figures of the Gita analogy. What most students skip over is the connection between the Pandavas who control the armies of energy and consciousness and the chakras as follows..

SAHADEVA – Muladhara, NAKULA – Svadistthana, ARJUNA – Manipura, BIMA – Anahata, YUDHISTHIRA – Vishuddha.
The Pandavas support (and guiding Divine Intelligence) is Krishna, manifested as The Christ Consciousness – SAHASRARA

EMAIL:

Please use the email address yogafirst@optusnet.com.au for anything to do with accounts, or the usual yogafirst2@bigpond.com. To get to me. If you do want to speak to me personally, then email, make a time suitable for both of us, and then we can chat. If you do it this way, rather than just “wing it”, you can be reasonably sure I have time, and you will get my attention. POSTAL ADDRESS is not at my home – small mail box out in the open means that rain is an issue. Please address all land mail to the address it has always been – PO Box 14, Mt.Macedon. Vic. 3441. Until you see a change written here in large letters, that is where it will be. INSURANCE
Your Registration is tied to your insurance. If you are not registered, then you can’t insure legitimately, and the responsibility is YOURS AND YOURS ALONE. A few students who have recently insured have done so without supplying a registration stating the level they are at in their studies (a student of yoga, a trainee teacher not yet graduated, a graduate) – were they to make a claim it could be disputed. We have stated this over and over again.

When we negotiated with the insurer on your behalf, then we could see how you were applying and make sure everything was OK. We cannot do that now. It is up to you. The easy way is to get registration through us and then send a copy of that with your CE requirement to the insurance company of your choice. You have choice, but no real policing to make sure that your policy is secure. It’s similar in nature to the difference in CAR insurance between the “Supermarket” insurance and CGU for instance. Yes you are insured with and it’s easy to insure, but is it as easy as they say it is when you claim??? CGU is a little more expensive, more hoops to jump through but gold standard when you make a claim. As I said. The choice is yours.

RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY INSURANCE: Dancesurance and AJGallaghers have both come through with a specialist insurance for our Restorative Yoga Therapy graduates. They can add this special insurance on to their ordinary insurance AT NO EXTRA COST.

They have examined the course, they have looked at the caliber of the students going through, and made their decision. All you need to do is to supply a copy of your registration when you apply. Here are some options…   Dancesurance – www.DanceSurance.com ……an insurer who also insures Studios/Students
Arthur J Gallagher – www.ajg.com.au ……our Long time insurer but changed
Insurance House www.insurancehouse.com …..insure on-line

Why Register with THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE?

PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION. You need to be currently registered for your insurance to be valid, and you will need to supply a copy of a valid registration to be insured. Please check your insurance requirements – keep up to date. They change quickly.

REGISTRATION – CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

We have fallen in line with other organisations and ask people who are registered with us and wish to re-register to do at least one short course in the year as a continuing education requirement. You need to keep up. You can do one of my little courses on ETSY, or someone else’s, doesn’t have to be onerous, just something to keep you on your academic toes so to speak.

LATE PAYMENTS

We make every effort to accommodate you, keep our tuition down, are frugal so you can be trained economically. So please, try to be on time and have your funds in order. Otherwise, we will have to up our fees to cover these time wasting problems, and I am resisting that. So, to encourage you we are taking the lead from other organisations, and we are going to charge$15 every time we are met with problems with funds. Motto? Please be on time. We don’t want to be going back, and back – pleading for you to keep your agreements.

MONTHLY TEACHER TRAINING AT THE HOME STUDIO:

The next will be on April Fool’s Day. Yes, Easter – but, as I have been emailing and notifying you all I am reluctant to call it off. I will be here for classes if you come. Sunday 1st April , 2pm to 4pm at my home studio (37 Morris Road in Woodend). Please join us for Teacher Training 2pm to 4pm. There is no need to book. Bring writing materials, and be early. If you are teacher Training student then the cost of the afternoon is $20 (to bring it in line with yoga classes) (which applies to everyone. If you are a visitor and not formally a student teacher with us then the cost is $30 – for a 2 hour class! Come.

I am considering a longish monastery retreat – to do this I will have to put all classes, all courses on hold for the time I am away. It has been a long time since I have done this (I used to disappear for 6 WEEKS at a time). A number of trainee teachers (and yogis) have a ‘take it or leave it” attitude to trainings and teachings, so this possible absence will give you all an idea what could happen if things changed. To visit my teacher takes a whole lot more planning, money, time and dedication to do, than the effort you require to visit me.

BENDIGO Teacher Training classes – The first Tuesday of the month. EXCEPT NO EASTER. Next class is Tuesday, 3rd May at 3.30pm Turn at the Metricon building on the highway in Kangaroo Flat. It is a traffic light intersection, just up from Bunnings. Crusoeden is the building behind Metricon building, and faces Church Street. It’s easy to find. Cost: $20 per class (to bring it in line with the cost of a yoga class) for everyone who attends – thank you.

(Directors – Jayne Boyle – crusoedenbody@bigpond.com). Regular classes held – please email for timetable.

CLASSES AT OUR AFFILIATE STUDIOS IN EUROA, LYONSVILLE, APOLLO BAY – Pease email me for details.

SUNBURY: THE CRANIO SACRAL CONNECTION.  WE REPEATED THIS LECTURE ON SUNDAY 18TH MARCH between 2 and 4pm. It was splendid – very worthwhile. Cost $35. If you would like to join us for the NEXT WORKSHOP workshops in Sunbury at YOGA 101, please contact Michelle at Yoga 101. Email info@yoga101.com.au

THE SHOP AND ETSY.

Why haunt libraries for information on the chakras, yamas, and other yoga philosophies relevant to the course (or The Tarot). It is all on ETSY. We do plan to update our shop (and the prices) with the new web update, but we will never be able to offer the options and service of etsy which has millions of customers. For you who have never used ETSY please visit. It is fabulous and oh so EASY. You will find all our books, our DVD’s and CD’s on ETSY. (The Paul Grilley DVD’s are on our web site shop). Please go to www.myyogabooks.etsy.com.www.myyogabooks.patterbyetsy.com Or www.yogabeautiful.com.au. for the Paul Grilley DVD’s. If you are new and haven’t read about YAMAS, CHAKRAS then I have distilled them for you. Go to the Etsy site as above and have a look – especially at the new book and DVD on Hypermobility..

WEB SITE NEWS. AS I NOTIFIED YOU IN THE LAST NEWSLETTER…In the next month or so we are totally changing our web site. This will mean a new look for the web site, the newsletter and the videos. Although everyone is working towards a smooth changeover, there could be problems (we are dealing with computers and humans), however, when we get to the other side, it will be easier, and better. It has been 10 years since we have made a change, and you know how technology has advanced in this time. I admit to trepidation – but, it had to be done.

The videos especially are going to get a shake up. This is long overdue. In a perfect world there would be no interruption – but utopia has rarely been located, and I ask in advance for your patience. I will keep notifying you via the newsletter, I will let you know when the exact changeover occurs IF I CAN. But if you go to the videos, and they are either not there, or all over the place… be patient. We will get it all fixed up. EMAIL NUMBER. yogafirst2@bigpond.comAccounts: Wednesdays between 9 and 12pm yogafirst@optusnet.com.au TEXT number is 0402 088 170 – preferably leave a text or email. I will return your calls when I can – I am not a slave to either the computer or the phone, so you may find that emails or TEXT (which I always recommend) work out best. The mail address is PO Box 14, Mt.Macedon. Vic. 3441. I am always as close as your email, and there are those who ring and manage to find me near the phone … Don’t forget to Register, insure and re-subscribe to the videos. Don’t leave these to the last minute. Love and Blessings,  Jahne

YOGA NEWSLETTER 25th JANUARY 2018

THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE IS MISSION DRIVEN AND MEMBER SUPPORTED.  BECOME A REGISTERED MEMBER TODAY.

THOUGHTS FOR TODAY

As you know I work with people suffering from severe addictions – if I have a passion with regards to yoga, then this is it. The hardest thing for them is to view their body correctly. They want a world of no suffering, and a body that they can use and not think about. They are not used to feeling (anything), and are neither connected to their body or the world. They have not realised that their troubles started with the body, and their greatest obstacle to change is their mind. Remember, your duties no matter what they are, or where they are… should not preclude you from mantra, chanting or yoga. If you are a householder with children, this makes your journey to wholeness imperative. Once you get the hang of it, you can be connected to God through mantra in every minute no matter how you are interacting with the world. Try it. Amazingly helpful for people suffering from anxiety, especially if you use a set of mala beads. Chanting and mantra calms “the swarm”.

NORTHCOTE TEACHER TRAINING CLASSES.

From next Monday, we (I) will be leading a yoga class at 11.30 and this will be followed by a 2 hour teacher training class at 1.30. So, if you are a trainee yoga teacher, or a yoga teacher, or a yoga student (and especially if you want to train as a yoga teacher), there is a place for you with us. No need to ring first and book, BUT, until we have brought together a core group I would appreciate an email on Saturday or Sunday letter me know you are coming. It is a big room, plenty of space, so bring a friend. Where? 9 Langwells Parade, Northcote, just off the high street. Park in the Aldi carpark 2 hours parking spot, and walk through, it is a very, very short walk.

Giving Monday

Members, Yogis and students. Every day in every way Charlie and I work with the yamas in mind. If students want us, if classes are needed, no matter what – we are there. We bring yoga. Now with Northcote opening, and working into new areas of need, new communities of addiction, we are asking for your support. If every one of you gave $25, we would have enough money to support our outreach without having to do the “alms rounds”, begging and pleading. It should be natural to support your school – please support us. Miracles happen every day – and with your help, we could move mountains. Just $25.00! To make it easy for you, and to give you something back, every YOGA NIDRA PROGRAM downloaded from our site www.myyogabooks.etsy.com, until the end of February, will contribute to the program. You win two ways – firstly you will be contributing to the program, and secondly you will be downloading a useful program. Thank you.

THE FAST TRACK AGAIN

For those students who have got well into the course and have been teaching consistently, but have taken a very long time, and are looking at a long time to finish, then this is the answer. THE FASTTRAK. This means that you will do modules 19,20,21,22 and the exam. When these are received (and you have FOUR MONTHS to complete – not forever and NO EXTENSIONS) you will get your RYTA200 Certification. The cost by distance is $650, or if you come here and do it in a day, then $950. If you are interested, then please contact me via email: yogafirst2@bigpond.com. These are the four most complex units in the course, and the exam is not small either. You will have really discipline yourself.

HYPERMOBILITY

I am so blessed, and I am sure you are too, to have the sort of mind that LOVES, LOVES, LOVES to study. I have a corner of my house where it all happens for me. Looking out into the garden. I have completed the article for The Australian Yoga Life magazine on Hypermobility, it has been accepted, and hopefully will be in the March edition. One can never tell. It was commissioned, but it is only an article, and if something even more stunning comes across their desk then it may be some time before mine makes the cut. But I don’t mind – it was a great discipline to do a large article with a required word count, and achieve it. Get the book on Etsy. By the way. You have to start somewhere, and the beginning is a good place. Please, teachers, catch up by getting these books, reading them and reflecting on your practice. www.myyogabooks.etsy.com. THEY ARE JUST THE BEGINNING. Come to Teacher Training when you can.

Teacher Training? Just in case you haven’t seen any reference to it – and someone said I never write about it in the newsletters. I do. All the time. You have to read this newsletter to keep up! ….. Teacher Training: Ist Sunday in the month between 2 and 4, every Wednesday at 12.30 and philosophy on Saturday morning at 11.30. Now we can offer Teacher Training with me at Northcote at 1.30 on Mondays.

PLEASE COLLECT YOUR MAIL PROMPTLY….

Please make sure you visit you local Post Office with your COLLECTION SLIP in hand if you are waiting for items from us. Items waiting for collection are sent back to us. This incurs double postage when we re-send it – nothing you/we will want to do with today’s postal charges. The fact that you have not picked it up does not mean that it has not been delivered. INSURANCE
INSURANCE ALTERNATIVES. We are no longer closely involved with our teachers with regards to insurance…. AJGallagher seems to be the only one who will insure students who have not graduated but are teaching – although I must say they are increasingly difficult to deal with. However, we have made an alliance with Dancesurance which appear to insure students (trainees not yet graduated) cheaply, and, if you have a studio, they are really the only ones who insure this with understanding. If you are a student MAKE YOUR STATUS CLEAR, if you don’t, and need to make a claim, you may discover (too late) that you are not covered.

Dancesurance – www.DanceSurance.com
Arthur J Gallagher – www.ajg.com.au

Why Register with THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE?

PLEASE, PLEASE CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION. You need to be currently registered for your insurance to be valid, and you will need to supply a copy of a valid registration to be insured. Please check your insurance requirements – keep up to date. They change quickly.

REGISTRATION – CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

We have fallen in line with other organisations and ask people who are registered with us and wish to re-register to do at least one short course in the year as a continuing education requirement. I have been shocked by what teachers THINK they know, and teach. You need to keep up. You can do one of my little courses on ETSY, or someone else’s, doesn’t have to be onerous, just something to keep you on your academic toes so to speak.

LATE PAYMENTS
Every month the same names turn up. Insufficient funds, problems with the number etc etc. The explanations are wondrous, BUT, you have a month between payments to make sure that everything is in order. So, to encourage you we are taking the lead from other organisations, and we are going to charge $15 every time we are met with problems with funds. If it happened occasionally I would just think OK, try again. But it is every month and takes time. Jacky applies a couple of times to make sure she has the right numbers, then she emails, then she types up a list, then she passes it through to me, and I start the process again. Sorry. But it is wasting time.

We make every effort to accommodate you, keep our tuition down, are frugal so you can be trained economically. So please, try to be on time and have your funds in order. Otherwise, we will have to up our fees to cover these time wasting problems, and I am resisting that.

YOGA NEWSLETTER 21st MARCH 2018

THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE IS MISSION DRIVEN AND MEMBER SUPPORTED.  BECOME A REGISTERED MEMBER TODAY.

THOUGHTS FOR TODAY. (and for the month, for the year, for a lifetime) I have been encouraging my students at the Bentinck to do some gardening. They have heaps of time, and I can’t understand why I have to “encourage” them to do what to me seems a natural thing to do. They promise to water, they promise to did. In the moment they seem enthusiastic, but when I leave and then come back nothing has been done. It seems a metaphor for what is going on in their lives. I take time, I speak to them, I do yoga with them. They are enthusiastic, they love it and I respond with more yoga and hand-outs, BUT after a few days I realize that they are only doing the yoga when I am there. Only in the “yoga hour”.

LESSON? The seed won’t grow unless it is placed in good soil, so I have to concentrate on that first, and then go nuts giving them yoga. Get the soil right, feed the spirit first, slow them down, teach them about what is yoga – and then do asanas. When I do it that way I get results.

And the word is out. Watch this space!!! PS: I am looking for a MASTERCLASS OF FOUR for our new Restorative Yoga Set. This will be by application only (will not be free), and will be suitable for people who want to work in a different way – deeply into the community. Email me. This course cannot be done at the moment by distance.

BLOG: When our new site is up and running, I will take our blog very seriously.. it has been hard to manage in the past, but the brief for the whole of our new web site was “easy for me, and use friendly for our students”. That is what we are all working towards.

MASSAGE AND HEALING

At a DNA Workshop yesterday we discussed what happens at a massage session. Some of the students told us hope they DIRECTED the massage. How they interpreted what was happening and worked towards ‘fixing”. That is not what I do. I think (after many years experience) that the spirit knows more than I do, and that if a healing is going to happen it will happen, sometimes in spite of what we do. We can’t know the karmic debt of the client, we can’t know what it at cause, we can only see the symptoms and listen. And then, if we are smart, we will just become a channel for healing energies. Empty. We will not impose our simple will, and healing will happen in its own way in its own time.

HOW ARE YOU HELPING?

As the Director of The Australasian Yoga institute, I wonder what you think I do, and who helps me? Well, hardly anyone helps me (Charlie does God Bless her), and when I have explained that I donate about $500 in teaching to students EVERY WEEK, and I ask a student to donate one hour of teaching it is usually refused, on the basis sometimes that “it is not business-like”. They are right, it is not businesslike, but it is yoga-like. Every day, EVERY day people try to get something for less, something for nothing from the Institute. It is the way of the world to get what you can. You are yogis, you know about karma and how things work – what are you giving in exchange for what you get? What are you prepared to give up to get what you want? This is not an intellectual exercise – it is an exercise in living. Only one student in 40+ YEARS has ever donated the balance of a course to a scholarship, and although we have a foundation, if I don’t ask for money, put the hat around, no-one thinks about it and only a handful really regularly respond. Maybe it is time for change – I also have rent and expenses. Yes, I know some of you donate to overseas, but there is a need right here at home. I need help.

I love you all, but I remember when I was going to yoga and doing what amounted to a teacher training (internship), I worked to pay to go to yoga and do the other courses along side it, and it was not inexpensive. I gave time, money, energy, and I loved every minute… I could not do enough for my teacher who taught me there was a world beyond what I had been told was reality. For myself today, there is a way I could change this situation. I could double the cost of the course. This would make the cost realistic and financially sensible (that’s why all the good courses are expensive), it is tempting and I may do it although many people who really wanted to be yoga teachers would be unable to afford it…, or some of you out there could think about how you could help on a volunteer basis? PLEASE?

THE SHOP AND ETSY.

Why haunt libraries for information on the chakras, yamas, and other yoga philosophies relevant to the course (or The Tarot). It is all on ETSY. We do plan to update our shop (and the prices) with the new web update, but we will never be able to offer the options and service of etsy which has millions of customers.

For you who have never used ETSY please visit. It is fabulous and oh so EASY. You will find all our books, our DVD’s and CD’s on ETSY. (The Paul Grilley DVD’s are on our web site shop). Please go to www.myyogabooks.etsy.comwww.myyogabooks.patterbyetsy.comOr www.yogabeautiful.com.au. for the Paul Grilley DVD’s. If you are new and haven’t read about YAMAS, CHAKRAS then I have distilled them for you. Go to the Etsy site as above and have a look – especially at the new book and DVD on Hypermobility..
