Dear Yogis,

In this time of REST AND RENEWAL, plan for SELF IMPROVEMENT followed by GROWTH.  You didn’t think you would ever have the time – but thank you, the Universe has given it to us in spades.

Your checklist:

GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE:  The government is busting its boilers to give us as much assistance as it can, because figures tell it that if we can weather the financial storm, then the September quarter financially will be like The Roaring 20’s.  But we have to pull in our belts somewhat until then.  Figures show us that during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918 in the USA,  the States who recovered most successfully and the quickest were the States who had home-stay and masks imposed for longer. The UK didn’t do as well because Churchill used the chaos to take the opportunity to devalue the currency.

BANK ASSISTANCE:  Your bank wants you! Therefore they are doing everything they can to keep you.  If you want to renegotiate anything, now is the time.  If you are not a good negotiator, find one.  I personally have discovered a few errors in how we reported to the bank and the ATO and how they interpreted our figures.  This will make a huge difference going forward.  This is your chance to do the same.

READ/WATCH. FIND SOMEONE YOU ADMIRE AND COPY THEM – COMING FROM NOWHERE: Use this time to improve your game – or find your game. Don’t wish things were easier, wish you were better.  Those studies you have left hang, new courses you wanted to do, new directions you wanted to take?  Now is the time.  If you want to become a new and better you, then use this time to achieve it.

After I lost my house in the bushfires, I was able to ask “Who am I, who do I want to be?” The past had been burned away.  Right now, the past has been taken away from you, and you have the time (and community support – you are not alone in this)  to ask the same question ‘WHO AM I, AND WHO DO I WANT TO BE”.  Then you set about achieving that.  The great athlete Chris Evert said that most of her career was based on desire.  What about the swimmer Kieran Perkins who came from nowhere to win Gold.  I think you will find that almost everyone who has succeeded in their career will tell you the same.

The difference is that the Government and the Banks, and the schools will do everything to help you to lift your game.  Do courses, become a new person, improve your qualifications do what you have always wanted to do.  Use the time wisely, you may never have this situation again.

Statistics tell us, financial forecasts tell us (you don’t need a crystal ball)  that from late August and Early September onwards we are going to enter a period of great growth – just as happened after the Spanish Flu.  The government is investing big time (in the USA, trillions of dollars)  and when those returns start to roll in for big business, economies are going to go gang-busters…. I have used the term ROARING TWENTIES because these special times came AFTER the Spanish Flu.  There were hard times in the ‘forties for sure, but with hindsight, and the new you, we can be ready for anything!

Don’t wait until then to prepare – get ready NOW.  Are people going to need yoga? More than ever.   BE PREPARED TO EXPAND AND GROW. Be grateful for this wonderful opportunity.

“I WILL SEE YOU AT THE TOP”     Namaste.  Jahne

Good morning Yogis,

A short one…but we could make it a” long one”.  The yoga teachers who come through our school are not just personal trainers, they are “yoga therapists/health coaches”.  We take broken people and we get to the heart of the matter (something I would say impossible over a video, but at the heart of my classes and my teachings).  For instance two friends may come to your class.  They are both over-weight and depressed.  After speaking with them, and maybe spending some time in class with them we discover the one is depressed because they are over-weight and the other is overweight because they are depressed.  Do we think the same yoga regime will work for both?  Yes, yoga will help both, but for each there has  to be a different emphasis which is directed by their different needs.

And this is where yoga differs from other health approaches.  We do not draw a line between the physical body and the other four dimensions of the human system.  If one dimension is affected, all are affected.

Keep in mind – YOGA HEALS…  Remember, there is a difference between fixing (that doctors try to do), curing  (that the medical system and  specialist you are referred to tries to do), and HEALING that yoga DOES.  This aspect is what I am teaching in my next course on etsy “HOW AND WHY YOGA WORKS”.

We also need to balance the system with good diet, exercise, relaxation, and supplementation, and I have found during the Covid time that Flower and herbal essences from my garden are making the biggest difference to me, and to my students who are getting me to post out remedies especially for them. I do make a powerful Olive Leaf Extract that works wonderfully on the bronchi, see the video “jahnehopewilliams, you tube” then we have the usual TYOH oil, and Reishi, plus as I said, especially made essences from the garden and hedgerows.  I am loving this time of deep learning, foraging and preparing these essences.  Home-stay is such a gift.    I am not only eating the greens I find on my daily wanderings (plants that  are young, fresh and luscious), I am making essences from them too.  I am stunned that I never see anyone else when I am out picking my salads… I have the forest to myself.  Lovely of course, but where are my yogis?

If you are interested, if I can help.  Please contact me on yogafirst2@bigpond.com

In this time of Covid, my pendulum and I can help you.

Stay well and stay safe.  Namaste  Jahne

Dear Yogis,

I am so sorry.  A few of you have contacted me asking if they could come to class.  There isn’t a class, there are no groups allowed, and it would not be honest (yamas again) even if we think we are perfectly safe.  Yesterday it was a beautiful day, and I imagine we could have had a class that came within the guidelines on the driveway, but imagine how the people walking past and looking out of their windows would have reacted.  The Covid police would have turned up.  In Gisborne the suburb next to mine they are doing long shifts, and making quite a few bookings of people not following the rules. AND ANOTHER MONTH TO GO I believe.  Keep checking in on yoga beautiful.  If there is a change, you will find it there – and here.  I will do regular newsletters. (PS>  No tarot classes either until the “ban” is lifted).

To help (I think) I am doing small course compiled from my Sunday Teacher Training notes and I have called it HOW (and why) YOGA WORKS.  Today so many people want to explore yoga but only know the asanas, and think that perfect poses will get them to Nirvana.  Well, it may, but a different one – an Ego based Nirvana. The one where you look in the mirror and you think your body and pose are so perfect and your lycra is so beautiful that you can hardly breathe for joy.  Or the Nirvana you THINK your way into by taking apart every feeling, every emotion and examining it to death, and feeling good about the pain and confusion.  I haven’t felt these, but I have seen people having that orgasm, and felt sorry for the journey ahead of them.  They forget that they have the perfect tool, YOGA, but it obviously is not the yoga they know about.

The one I know is the “everything yoga” not just the “start with yoga” discipline.  The yoga I know is the one where you trust the journey whatever it is – the one where you know your karma is at work, and relax into that, doing your best minute to minute – that’s the one I do.  Sometimes I “win” sometimes not, whatever comes I trust the journey.  I trust the Universe (God?).  I am not as good as I am going to be, but I am a whole lot better than I used to be.

I will put the course on Etsy (www.myyogabooks.etsy.com),  probably in three parts so you (and I) won’t be overwhelmed, and I will make some videos you can watch.  I think it will be helpful now and in the future.  It certainly will enlarge and enhance your teaching, and maybe your understanding.  Every time I read my notes, and I read them often,  I find the ideas challenging and I learn something new.

This time we find ourselves in isn’t about surviving.  It is about growing, and thriving, and coming out stronger and better.  ALL IS WELL.

Namaste – Jahne.
