Dear Yogis,

I am so sorry.  A few of you have contacted me asking if they could come to class.  There isn’t a class, there are no groups allowed, and it would not be honest (yamas again) even if we think we are perfectly safe.  Yesterday it was a beautiful day, and I imagine we could have had a class that came within the guidelines on the driveway, but imagine how the people walking past and looking out of their windows would have reacted.  The Covid police would have turned up.  In Gisborne the suburb next to mine they are doing long shifts, and making quite a few bookings of people not following the rules. AND ANOTHER MONTH TO GO I believe.  Keep checking in on yoga beautiful.  If there is a change, you will find it there – and here.  I will do regular newsletters. (PS>  No tarot classes either until the “ban” is lifted).

To help (I think) I am doing small course compiled from my Sunday Teacher Training notes and I have called it HOW (and why) YOGA WORKS.  Today so many people want to explore yoga but only know the asanas, and think that perfect poses will get them to Nirvana.  Well, it may, but a different one – an Ego based Nirvana. The one where you look in the mirror and you think your body and pose are so perfect and your lycra is so beautiful that you can hardly breathe for joy.  Or the Nirvana you THINK your way into by taking apart every feeling, every emotion and examining it to death, and feeling good about the pain and confusion.  I haven’t felt these, but I have seen people having that orgasm, and felt sorry for the journey ahead of them.  They forget that they have the perfect tool, YOGA, but it obviously is not the yoga they know about.

The one I know is the “everything yoga” not just the “start with yoga” discipline.  The yoga I know is the one where you trust the journey whatever it is – the one where you know your karma is at work, and relax into that, doing your best minute to minute – that’s the one I do.  Sometimes I “win” sometimes not, whatever comes I trust the journey.  I trust the Universe (God?).  I am not as good as I am going to be, but I am a whole lot better than I used to be.

I will put the course on Etsy (www.myyogabooks.etsy.com),  probably in three parts so you (and I) won’t be overwhelmed, and I will make some videos you can watch.  I think it will be helpful now and in the future.  It certainly will enlarge and enhance your teaching, and maybe your understanding.  Every time I read my notes, and I read them often,  I find the ideas challenging and I learn something new.

This time we find ourselves in isn’t about surviving.  It is about growing, and thriving, and coming out stronger and better.  ALL IS WELL.

Namaste – Jahne.

Good morning yogis and friends..

The whole point of Christianity, and why Jesus was different from all the prophets and magicians that were alive and promoting themselves at the time he was alive, is shown most clearly over Easter – in particular the RESURRECTION.  Without this, there would be no Christianity.  Just believing that Jesus was a Man, is not enough.  There were many at that time doing magical things, calling themselves God. It was the life and most importantly the death and resurrection that no-one else did (few would be willing to do knowing the end) that singled this Man out from the others.  Yes, the life could be seen as politically arranged, the death wasn’t any different to thousands of others that took place at that time – it WAS THE RESURRECTION that caused people through the ages to sit up and take notice.  Who was this man who could see the end and go there anyway whatever it took,  for the greater good?  You may never want to go there.  You may never want to ask yourself this question.. you may have filtered it through your logical mind, but sooner or later it will pop up, and maybe one day you will answer it.

In the meantime…..

What did it cost you to come to the mat today? Yesterday? All the days?

What did to cost you to sing to your children today?

Today you can buy music 99cents per download, or free. How much is your song worth?

The praise is worth more than the product.  Music can be internal, or external.  Michael Jackson was so good at singing that he made you think your song was as good as his song.  That  if you wanted to sing like him, all you needed was one glove instead of two.  That is all it would take.  The right singer with the right song makes you think you can sing anything.  The right song gives you strength (Some songs of course drive you inwards towards your brokenness).  Your life is a song.

Singing when things are good is easy, but how can you sing in the middle of death?

Did you ever think about the fact that there are 12 notes in the piano scale.  12 black keys, 12 white ones.  In every song you have ever heard these 12 notes featured to a greater or lesser extent.  It is a scale of infinite possibilities, as you are a song of infinite possibilities.  There are 12 notes in the scale,  and there were 12 disciples.  Jesus prayed/sang those 12 disparate people into a symphony.  Out of the 12 only one chose his own death, only one died of “natural” causes. Judas.  The other eleven became martyrs for what they believed in and gave their lives up willingly (perhaps Judas did too).  They believed in their song.

What is your song? One note is a song others can hear.  When a three note cord happens, we know that we are meant to be here.

Do what you want, but I am going to keep singing.  You may like it, you may not like it.  I am going to keep on singing.

NAMASTE and HAPPY EASTER…..   JAHNE

Good Morning,

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE.  I find it an emotional time.  A time to remember not just one man (although I do that), but also the persecuted all over the world, and through all times.   Not going about weeping, but knowing that everything is all right, it is all, “all right”.

No matter the confusion,  what a wonderful NEW FRESH morning it is…  I hope you are following my teachings and are teaching them to at least one person in your household, like me – I teach the cat (and you).  The cat is looking good (as am I).

BRIGHT AUTUMN BREATH

Sit, and relax… let the world slide by.

Gently breathe into all parts of your body.  At the same time as you are doing this breathe into the various areas of the body the different organs, and let them speak to you.  Pay attention.  Listen to what they need.  If they are uncomfortable, in pain, having difficulties (the lungs for instance) exhale any excess strain.  If the organ or area is below par and not functioning efficiently, send bright, sparkling energy into that area.

Pain/discomfort should be visualised as a black or dark grey cloudy mass and immediately exhaled and sent back to the universe as far away from you as possible.  Weak organs, areas that are working but struggling should be sent bright golden energy, consciously breathing golden light into them.

This visualisation is perfect if you wish to establish contact with your body and want to do it regularly.  At the moment with the covid problem, I highly recommend it and have been concentrating on the lungs and brain.  Just wander the mind through the body.  No hurry, no distress, first breathing into the toes and the fee and then meandering up the body… no plan, just noticing, just having a conversation….  Feel what the organs have to say to you and send them loving energy.

YOGA CARDS/planner

I have been writing a lot to students – just keeping up, letting them know I am here, mainly on the email, but when I do send an actual card to a student the response is wonderful.  People don’t often receive actual cards and planners, so I am making cards, and updating my planners, and putting them on my ETSY site www.myyogabooks.etsy.com, so that you can download them and send them to your clients.  They will remember you, I guarantee it!  (I was playing with the images yesterday, and have put one image up there,  and will put more when I have the time as soon as possible.  .

Make this HOME-STAY a time of growth, don’t sit in a corner worrying, or escaping with the television.  When the Going gets tough, the tough get going.  Remember ……  And THIS TOO WILL PASS. Be Happy.  Everything is in the right place, everything is proceeding as it should.  We don’t know the outcome, so we can’t say if this experience is good or not, and even that will pass.  What seems bad today, maybe good tomorrow.  So just enjoy it, whatever it is.  WHATEVER IT IS.  Talk to me.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com

RUBBER BAND VIDEO.

Cate (and Meaghan) said women were like tea bags, “….you don’t know how strong they are until they get into hot water.”  I think EVERYONE is like a rubber band “made to be stretched”.  Tea bags get dunked once, rubber bands last a very long time and can be stretched over and over again.  These are “stretching times”.  Watch the video.  “jahne hope-williams you tube”.

Stay warm and well on this blissfully beautiful day.
