GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES  Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….   Dedicated to a tradition of excellence in teaching for more than 40 years, The Australasian Yoga Institute offers yoga teachers comprehensive and systematic training in classical yoga.  We teach yoga techniques for body, breath, mind and spirit in 200hr and 500hr certification programs.  Our programs include training in meditation, asana.

THE YAMAS – I cannot stress these too much.
If you come to me to be registered in our organisation (and baby,  it is growing and is going to take some BIG leaps)  and you haven’t done the yamas, guess what, you will have to do a workshop and an exam…..  For me, the philosophy of yoga is the most important.  There is NOTHING more important.  We start there.

I have never liked the (Christian) “Thou Shalt Not” approach and am trying out a new one.  What do you think of this.

“Just for today I will not kill thoughts, hopes, aspirations,  confidence.  I will not kill.”
“Just for today I will work on telling the truth”
“Just for today I will work on not stealing”
“Just for today I will work on respecting all people and all things”
“Just for today I will work on not taking more of anything than what I need”.

TALKING ABOUT THE YAMAS – “sand to pearls”.
What is the grit in your shoe?
Remember my last newsletter… “……She quoted often from the Old Testament as though this was appropriate in those terms for today.  I wonder if she uses oil lamps in her home, or uses a computer.  Not sure what Abraham, or Paul or even Ezekiel would think about our technology!

I don’t know if you have really read the Old Testament, but I think those guys were way ahead in their experiences if not in their understandings.  They were shepherds, tax collectors and general run of the mill villagers….    The Old Testament was written a long time ago when those in charge were trying to make a community out of a motley group of shepherds and farmers in the desert.  They wrote about what they felt and experienced in terms that they understood, and it is out of this society that we get the pages and pages of rules and the Ten COMMANDMENTS.  The people of this desert community would die from information overload if they were dropped into our society.  They probably would worship the computer as a God.  You press a button and a voice comes from heaven.

However, no matter if it is 4,500 years ago, 2000 years ago or  yesterday (or today), to have the best life we can and keep out of trouble in this life and the next, to make the best choices,  we are going to have to live according to a few rules, and the yamas make sense to me.  They are INSPIRATIONS for living not RULES for living.

Do you really want to be healed, do you want to live the best you can?  As long as you keep hanging on to stuff you know doesn’t work, you don’t hurt enough yet.

If the Yamas teach us anything, they say that we don’t have to live in that decision.  It is never to late to start living the Yamas.  Recognise the problem, repent (decide not to do it again and say sorry), and move forward.  Use your problem,  this bump in the road to give you the lift you need to move forward – to understand the pain.   Using the wisdom of doing wrong in order to do right.

Going forward takes courage and we are often crippled with fear.  We don’t think we can overcome it.  A trusted friend or counsellor can help us to get on the road to recovery. Voice your pain and take it to the Universe, God or a friend.  It is the first step to putting the burden down.  Don’t carry it around.  Resentment turns into anger and it is poisonous.  This constant negative tape is debilitating and in fact you probably are not telling the truth to yourself.  Instead, choose a yama and work on it.  PRAY.  MAKE YOUR MESS INTO YOUR MESSAGE.

I am a recovering perfectionist.  I know now that I don’t have to achieve love – in fact I know I can’t achieve love.  I can only give love, and recognise it when it comes to me, and give thanks.

(if you want to experience past life with me and can come visit – or want to check when I will be near you – email me at yogafirst2@bigpond.com)

TEACHER TRAINING….FERMENTATION WORKSHOP..CELEBRATION
I hope that you all have made a note in your diary for Margaret’s FERMENTATION WORKSHOP on Sunday.  Teacher Training will be fabulous this time.  We have a few things planned, a cake especially made by the local “cake Boss” at Blackbird cakes is just the beginning.  So, whatever you do, plan to be here.  Remember to come in through the Romsey Road gate.  Park to the left or the right of the gate only – NOT straight ahead even if it is about 20 steps closer to the door.  We will have a photo session, and it will be super special.  Breaking news about a journey that has just taken me so many years to achieve for you all.   BE THERE!  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.  I imagine that we will not end at 4pm as we usually do.  I could be wrong, but give yourself some wriggle room.

I will pass the hat around to pay for Margaret’s time and preparation – if you want to take home some ferment for your own use, something you may have made in the class, BRING SOME SMALL GLASS BOTTLES.  There is also the usual $10 fee for the Teacher Training.

What you are may sometimes miss the mark,  a prisoner in liberty.  Get up somehow, get clean right now and be a happy, happy child set free.

FACEBOOK
I am so enjoying your fantastic responses to my writing.  Even those who are not entirely on the same page.  There is always someone who won’t entirely paddle alongside, but just get it that I write to take you on a journey.  You may not like it today, but just put it aside, put it on your fridge and think about it.  One day you will get what I am trying to say – even I learn something every time I write.  It forces me to be more succinct.  I am sure you find this in your writing too.  Don’t worry if you don’t understand, don’t worry if you think I am nuts, don’t worry if you think I am an old grouch – I probably am.  Just know that everyday I am working to make you the best yoga teachers you can be.  That is ALL that I do with my days.  I hold the space – FOR YOU.

NOA BELLING – YOGA HANDBOOK.  PLEASE…..WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE!
We are still asking for your help. I wondered if any of you out there had finished with their book and would like to sell it back to us, WE WOULD LOVE TO BUY IT OFF YOU.  We can get it secondhand from time to time for $25 to $30.  We will buy yours off you for $25 plus whatever is the postage cost.  Email us if you would like to sell yours, and Deb will call you to organise.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com

REGISTRATION/INSURANCE www.yogabeautiful.com.au We are giving you total choice now, although it may be a bit more expensive…..
REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE HAVE BEEN UNCOUPLED.  YOU CAN BUY THEM SEPARATELY.  A DEARER OPTION, BUT IT SEEMS THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT.  WE AIM TO PLEASE.

YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so): If you are a trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only.     Imagine if what would happen to our Institute if  you took three years to finish your course and you could still come to classes free for the entire course.  We do our fee calculation based on 12 months of free yoga classes.   Your training fees cover you for a year, after that we ask you to pay $10 per class.

Also, just signing up and not sending in any modules means you are not really a trainee yoga teacher, and unless we receive regular communication (even if it isn’t modules), at a certain point we will deem that you have disconnected from us, and we will disconnect from you.  And, coming to class with no intention of completing the course just to get the cheaper, easier student insurance, and free classes isn’t exactly living the yamas!  Sooner or later we will call your bluff.

I have found  if you paddle your boat it is easier to maintain the illusion of control, but I tell you it is so much more fun if you pull the oars in and just let the river take you where it will….

VIDEOS:  THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL – THEY ARE NECESSARY! Only $275 per annum. Please look down the list of the videos before you try to do stick drawings, or organise your journal.  I have shown you what I recommend..  All you have to do is download.  I even did a video on ‘The Gita.  Good feedback thus far – thank you.      Please.  Email us and Debbie will make sure that you are logged in promptly. OH YES, IF YOU HAVE BOUGHT THE SUBSCRIPTION, THEN PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEOS.  IF YOUR NAME IS NOT EDGAR CAYCE THEN YOU CAN’T LEARN WHAT IS ON THE TAPE FROM SLEEPING WITH YOUR COMPUTER!  yogafirst2@bigpond.com
YOUR HEALTH TEAM Good Health is a team effort, and not a one person try and fail, try and fail effort.  You will need to try and adjust and move forward that is true, and this is easier if you have a few people to go to. I believe it is all about balance.  About lifestyle.   For my bones and muscles I don’t go to a nutritionist (necessarily), I head to my neuromuscular specialist Dr. Brett at Gisborne Chiropractic.  For my gut problems I go to Dr. Gigante a herbalist/TCM, and when I feel I need a supplement and this happens less and less, I speak to Margaret Armstrong who is a body ecologist who believes as I do that food is medicine.  Of course yoga and meditation is something that is a given in my day, and I am my own physician in this case.  I also eat whole food, and grow what I can – this also reflects my health perspective.

Don’t wait until you have an illness until you see your health team.  Go regularly to be kept well.  It is an old Chinese point of view.  The Doctor was there to keep you well, not to just make you well.

Getting a drug to market costs 1.3 million dollars (or was it billion).  Herbalists for instance have been trained in evaluating herbs from your garden.  Learn about your health, learn how you can use what you already have at hand to keep you healthy.  You wouldn’t go to Mc.Donalds to get your car fixed.  Don’t go to a chemical company to get help for your body.   Read and get smart.

GARDENING WITH BENEFITS More Weeding, weeding out the forget-me-nots and the sticky weed which are horrible as they die back.  Strike now before they die, and leave a few just to liven things up in the garden, but rip them up before they go to seed.   What more can I say.  It is hugely important to get on top of those weeds.  That is all that I am concentrating on at present.  Weeds, Weeds, Weeds.

The sticky weed is a herb (as are the forget-me-nots) , the seeds of which were used as a replacement for coffee beans in the war.  We are not at war, so keep the weed under control  The tips can be eaten I am told (I haven’t), but I did used to make an anti-rhuematic oil from sticky weed which was hugely popular with the Italian community.
COOKING
CHICK PEA PIZZA.   Make your base with chick pea flour.  3 cups besan (chick pea flour)  3 tabls oil etc  and 2 cups+ of water, salt.  Mix in a bowl.  The result is a lot runnier than a pizza base, a pancake batter rather than a dough.  Heat up a couple of big onions in oil until they caramalise.  Grease a tray and pour the base mixture into a tray.  Put in the oven at 180 for half an hour.  You do gets cracks and shrinkage.  THEN, when you take it out of the oven dress with tomato paste, the caramalised onions,  raw torn spinach, sliced red peppers.  Dob with hummus so that you can slice in a way everyone gets a bit of hummus.  You can change any ingredients.  Cook in the oven as you usually would (or not – it can be eaten raw), and then enjoy.

YIN YOGA/ANATOMY/MEDITATION DVD’s – all with Paul Grilley Just got a new shipment.   They are the best and will form the backbone of your yoga references.  As I have told you before when I bought mine they cost $100 or so each.  I thought that this was a good investment.  I think half that is a steal! And that is what we are selling this. www.yogabeautiful.com.au   JAHNE’S MENTORING SESSIONS …. Because Jahne has been teaching yoga teachers for more than 40 years, and running a business the Buddhist way for much longer than that (and successfully) she is often asked for advice. She also consults on the Tarot and the I-Ching.   Please make an appointment.
REGARDING DEBBIE If you want to speak to Debbie about any aspect of the courses – she has done them, please remember that she only comes in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  On those days she is available on Ph: 0354 273 518.  I am always here, and available preferably on email or text because I teach and am not always at my desk.  Don’t hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can.

THE LAST WORD: I try to imagine life without being able to speak to God, but none of the days without that special energy have the same laughter, or opportunities…..

MC.MINDFULNESS
The present buzz is all around MINDFULNESS, which I think is being massaged into just another kind of “do-it-yourself help”.  Meditation as a simple, accessible practice available without extensive training flourished in China in the 8th Century and in Burma in the 19th Century,  and growing directly out of the Burmese movement  is what is known as MBSR – Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.  Are we oversimplifying the discipline? Can I ask you this;  If MBSR represents Mindfulness as “purposeful, non-judgemental attention in the present moment” are we able to say exactly what we mean by “in the present moment”?   Can we know in advance of our sitting  how to maintain attention in the present moment?  Do we even know what a present moment is?  I enjoy going to source books, I love looking back into history to see where our teaching originated, and the points at which Western Philosophy and Buddhism seem to merge.  Can the Buddhas teachings truly transform who we are when we don’t know in any deep sense who we have been (and I am not speaking of past life therapy).

Jon Kabat-Zinn the founder of MBSR said “The past is already over.  We have to deal with things how they are in the moment…Healing and transformation are possible the moment that we accept the actuality of things as they are.”    Thich Nhat Hanh writes in a book on mindfulness “From now on I will use the term “mindfulness” to refer to keeping one’s consciousness alive to the present reality.”  Actually the word “Mindfulness” (sati in Pali and smriti in Sanskrit) has remembering as its fundamental meaning.  It refers to remembering what has value, what matters most.  Choosing an active presence of mindfulness takes it off the cushion and inserts it into daily life.   When we do this we are actively choosing how to act in this moment, and choosing who and what will be, which is Real Mindfulness.

AYI AND YOGA AUSTRALIA – TOGETHER.  ACCREDITATION.
My beautiful certificates came in the mail today.  A long wait, but I have them at last.   I have a level 3 qualification which requires at least 10 years or 1,000 hours of teaching which  is just a fraction of the yoga I have actually done – 50 years of yoga, 40+ years of teaching teachers.  PLUS, and most importantly I have Accreditation of our yoga teacher training at 350 hours level.

TEACHER TRAINING….FERMENTATION WORKSHOP
This week I noticed that our local cook store MORT AND PESTLE received  the delivery of old fashioned ceramic fermentation pots.  They look beautiful,  and are perfect for the ferment we started at the workshop, and the kimchi lesson we are planning.  More to come on this..

GARDENING WITH BENEFITS My garden is looking splendid. Everything is bursting with life.  Just needs a preseason mulch and some maxi crop…  The TLC I have been lavishing on my kale is paying off.  I think it is better than the curly kale for what I use it for, although if I were making chips, the curly would be the go.

Having asked my students for fish, my frogs have really lifted their game!  I went out and spoke to them, told them the problem, asked for help, and I got it.  The pond is beautiful and no mozzies.  Thanks frogs.

COOKING – YOUR FOOD IS YOUR MEDICINE.
IRISH SODA BREAD.  Easy Peasy for people who are gluten intolerant, and don’t like yeast.   As usual I am guessing my quantities… play, you won’t go wrong.  You can make it with standard flour.

INGREDIENTS:  1 cup GF self raising flour, half cup GF wholemeal flour, 2 teasp bicarb soda, 1 egg, buttermilk, sprinkle salt, teasp honey.  For a savoury loaf add a small handful of garlic greens (tops) finely chopped.  For a sweet loaf increase the honey – you could add chopped nuts.

METHOD:    Put the dry ingredients in a bowl including the garlic greens and mix with your hands, then make a well in the centre and add the egg and gradually the buttermilk (or plain milk) until you have a soft dough (sort of like a soft scone dough).   Make into a soft ball and transfer to a floured baking tray, dust with flour, score with a knife in a cross, and then bake in 180C for 35 minutes.  Leave to cool and then eat with lashings of real butter.  Wonderful.  When I was in South Africa I made this all the time because their traditional foods were way to heavy and greasy for my taste – I could always make this, sweet or savoury, it was quick, and a hit.  I had to get in first to get a slice.

Have you tried crisping up shavings of pumpkin peel instead of potato crisps?

“THE GROUCHY OLD TART COOKS”
One of my students at Innisfree called me “a grouchy old tart”.  It was supposed to be an insult, but as teaching them was “grouchy old tart business”, I kept it and it is now used affectionately (I think).  I thought a T-Shirt would be good “Yes, I am The Grouchy Old Yoga Tart” but it hasn’t happened.  So the current version could be “Yes, The Grouchy Old Tart Cooks”

I have said in the past that we will be doing cooking videos.  Well I am exploring the technology.  I have the space, I have the mind, I have a plan and the plan is on the top of the pile.   Catherine the owner of the local cooking shop “Mort and Pestle” (www.pestle.com.au
is sponsoring and helping.   Making sure that she has the bits and pieces that you may need to be the cook you want to be.  I try the op. shops first for the most interesting cooking equipment.

And that is what we are selling this. www.yogabeautiful.com.au

JAHNE’S MENTORING SESSIONS …. Because Jahne has been teaching yoga teachers for more than 40 years, and running a business the Buddhist way for much longer than that (and successfully) she is often asked for advice. She also consults on the Tarot and the I-Ching.   Please make an appointment.  Past Life Therapy available, but not on the phone, mainly due to the occasional line disconnect for whatever reason.  Totally ruins a session.  My next visit will be to Brisbane to chat about your yoga progress, explore the Restorative option,  and to do a past life session or two, so if you want me to contact you first when I know the dates, get your name on the list.
THE YAMAS – I cannot stress these too much how important these are, and I am going to leave them at the bottom of the newsletter because I WANT YOU TO REMEMBER THEM. If you come to me to be registered in our organisation (and baby,  it is growing and is going to take some BIG leaps)  and you haven’t done the yamas, guess what, you will have to do a workshop and an exam…..  For me, the philosophy of yoga is the most important.  There is NOTHING more important.  We start there
I have never liked the (Christian) “Thou Shalt Not” approach and am trying out a new one.

THE LAST WORD: I try to imagine life without being able to speak to God, but none of the days without that special energy have the same laughter, or opportunities…..

THE RED STRING
For a number of years I have been making the Red String bracelets for my students.  The idea came from a very ancient Kabbalah custom which recognised the need for protection from the envious (evil) eye.  They called this protection THE RED STRING.   I don’t believe that the strings in themselves have magic powers, but I do believe that we need reminding (when we can see the options) to take a higher path – the world is full of negativity and temptations.      Red Strings, red blood on the doorposts, and red wine are all mentioned in the bible in connection with the idea of protection against evil forces.

Red is a significant colour by itself.  It is the lowest frequency on the colour spectrum (think Muladhara – a connection here).  The lowest level of light and extreme negativity.  Why would you use negativity against negativity?  Put simply, a sort of a vaccination.  Why do we use wool?  It is based on the idea of spinning.  The world spins with judgement and mercy and when you spin the two together,  judgement is converted into mercy.  A single candle converts the darkness into light.

I know that of itself the Red String changes nothing.  But it reminds me that when I change, THEN EVERYTHING CHANGES.  Seen this way, the Red String is transformational, but only because it reminds me to transform.    I am not particularly superstitious, and I wear my Red String to remind me of the person I aspire to be.  It reminds me of my yogic philosophies, and my desire to live the yamas daily.  It is a reminder I take everywhere to be the best I can be.

It is worn on the left wrist as the left hand pertains to the concept of receiving.  As I act on the Red String I am changing the negative which comes to me, into positive, intercepting and converting negative forces.   When it falls off?  I just figure it has done its job thus far.  No need to panic.  If it won’t stay on, and keeps on falling off (apart from making sure it is knotted firmly) well then I would examine my energy and how I have been behaving towards others.

Within the plaiting of the string I use 7 strings of silk along with wool, and  I tie 7 knots to remind me of the chakras, also to contain the colours of the rainbow, and the koshas which signify the worlds that influence reality.  So what would in the first instance look like a simple plait of red silk/wool, has quite a deep significance;   certainly it has for me – it is not just a magic “charm”. You can buy one from the Etsy site www.myyogabooks.etsy.com and www.yogabeautiful.com.au shop or contact me on yogafirst2@bigpond.com

THE BLOG AND FACEBOOK
Nic is doing our FaceBook pages and the Blog www.ministryofyoga.blogspot.com. She tells me we are on  Instagram and we even have a program for the week!

Thank you to those girls who gave me some photographs of the Dalai lama from our visit in Brisbane.  I took lots of photographs, but some of them were obscured by a white light surrounding Him and were hard to reproduce.

WE WILL SOON HAVE OUR FOUNDATION
Because it is designed to reflect our lineage, I think I am going to call the Foundation ‘THE GITAJAIA FOUNDATION”.    GITA because that reflects the teaching of my own source teacher (Margrit Segesman who began the Gita School of Yoga), and the teachings of the Gita are the Foundation of our Institute and its courses,  and JAIA because that is how I think of myself .

I am working on getting the foundation legally correct and I think it will take another month.    It is a lengthy process, and we will let you know how we progress.  The Foundation  will not make any immediate differences to our students or teachers, it just changes the business model – but neither the nature nor the purpose of our Institute, which is to inspire yogis.  It will mean that we will have a Board, and that if anything untoward happens to me,  the Institute will go forward, your qualifications will be safe, and you will be able to build on them.  I have outlived most of my forebears and plan to last for sometime yet – but one never knows when God will call.  I theoretically have booked my passage when I reach about 103 years of age, but providing all my marbles are present, I am happy to last longer!

THE TAROT
As you know, I redesigned the tarot a few years ago, and they are quite lovely – they sell all over the world.  I have some vacancies in my own practice if anyone out there wants a reading.  I consider myself to be quite different and certainly worthwhile.  Please don’t come to me if you want to know about someone tall dark and handsome in your future, or winning  lotto numbers.   We will however discover things in your future you may not have thought about.

Please make an appointment by emailing  yogafirst2@bigpond.com and give me a few optional dates. It is also possible to have a postal/email reading.

NOA BELLING – YOGA HANDBOOK
We will buy yours off you for $25 plus whatever is the postage cost.  Email us if you would like to sell yours, and Deb will call you to organise.   yogafirst2@bigpond.com

YOGA CLASSES –  Times they are a changing…. Classes held at the Bentinck  THE HOME OF THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE.
Cost:  $10 per person per class (or $100 a 12 class pass:  non–transferable).  $15 mum plus little yoga bub. $25 per family (mum, dad and two primary school children.  Young adults $10 each).

Jahne’s classes are designed around her 50 years of teaching experience. Friends, Yoga is not a recipe that is repeated the same way every time in every class.   That would be mindless.  If you want repetition don’t go to Jahne’s class.  There is a thread running through the class. But it is not EXACTLY the same.  If it was the same each week,  you could just check your mind at the door.  The shelf is for shoes, not for minds.

You will notice that some of my senior trainee teachers are taking over the evening classes – Nicholas Martin, Nicole and Kalma. I hear that you are enjoying them.  Don’t expect them to teach like me – they are trying to put their own stamp on yoga.  This seems to be important when you first start out as I remember.”The Bentinck” is on the corner of the Romsey Road and the High Street in Woodend.  Enter from  the start of the Romsey Road only.

Don’t wander around Woodend looking for the class.  If you really get lost, just ask a shopkeeper for THE BENTINCK.  It is iconic in the district and they will give you directions. PARKING – Sorry, “Staff parking”  1. at the front entrance and 2. parking right outside of the yoga door is not available to us yoga persons, this is kitchen staff parking (doesn’t even apply to me) and does not mean you.  Please think of others when you park.  We hemmed the chef in the other day and he was not a happy chappy.  Never upset the cook!.  If both sides of the car park are full when you arrive, please park over the road – you just have to walk across Romsey road to yoga, and that’s not such a hard thing.

CLASS TIMES
Monday  5.30pm RESTORATIVE , 6.30 general class (Nicole).
Tuesday 10am RESTORATIVE – Jahne and 7.30 general class (Brad),
Wednesday 12.30 general class (Kalma)
Friday 6.30pm general class (Nicholas)
Saturday. 10am general class (Nicole)
plus 9am RESTORATIVE YOGA  – Jahne, and 12.30 RESTORATIVE YOGA – Jahne

**Because some of the classes are back to back, please check before you walk in early.  There is a notice on the door,   PLEASE READ IT.  Walk around the building and wait quietly in the sunroom on the other side  –  don’t just walk in.  Thank you.

*RESTORATIVE YOGA (4 classes now – and growing)
The more I learn about how to teach Restorative Yoga, what to add, what to leave out (every class is a little different) I am more and more in awe of it.
……….is a beautiful, gentle yoga which is done using lots of props and lots of time.  No balancing, no headstands, nothing but gentle stretches and rests.  You and/or a friend will love it especially if you have had surgery, are anxious, haven’t exercised for years, have a weight problem, or have a neurological problem.  It is also a PERFECT pre and postnatal session – if you are pregnant, please get a doctors certificate and bring it to your first class – not because I think you are unwell, but as it is an insurance requirement.

Please,  if you have recently given birth and wish to come to yoga with your baby you are both more than welcome (I always have maintained a baby even a couple of days old is welcome in our classes with their mum – however NOT in restorative yoga), but please be sensitive to others in the room when you join a mixed general class.  If you wish to change and feed we have a lovely conservatory room especially set out just for you.  Warm, carpeted, floor to ceiling garden windows – a million dollar view for the short time you exit the class!  We love babies, we love young mothers, however,  if you want to be with other young mothers going through the same things as you are, please wait until we start our Mums+One classes.

If you are a Visitor or Casual (i.e you don’t come to every class) please note that as our classes are pretty full with regulars i.e. People who buy a pass and wouldn’t miss a session, we may not be able to fit you in.
TEXT ONLY YOUR BOOKING REQUEST TO 0402 088 170.  Please don’t ring me.

PLEASE PEOPLE:  It is important that you get to the class early.  When you arrive, be observant, and if there is a class in progress go around to the side door.  PLEASE,  please be on time.
www.yogabeautiful.com.au If you are looking for any changes in times and days, then please go to the web site.  You will find everything there. There is also our blog. www.ministryofyoga.blogspot.com Nicole is loading things on this.

NEXT TEACHER TRAINING CLASS – The next will be on Sunday 5th July at the Bentinck – in the Yoga Room.  Please join us.  If you are a distance ed. student then the cost of the afternoon is $10.  If you are a visitor you are most welcome – and if you are a visitor and not formally a student teacher with us then the cost is $20.

THE FORGIVENESS BOOK This book is still travelling,  keep it moving along, the list is longish.   And…..If you would like to be next on the list of 108 people, please email me……yogafirst2@bigpond.com Everything will change for you when you work out that there is plenty of time in every day to complete the important things.

BEANNIES FOR NEPAL
Please keep knitting Beanies.  I still aim to send a big box in September.

You should see Debbies, it his beautiful.  People knit a beanie, and love it, then they knit one for themselves.  Then a family member will have a first try, and on and an it goes – all from one person knitting one beanie.
Try it, it is easy.  If you can’t manage a beanie, then knit a scarf. Thank you for those who have posted beanies to us.    Last year we at the yarn bombing group managed to inspire enough knitters to send a large bale of beanies to schools in Nepal.  With the earthquakes,  and the cold and hardship faced by the people at this time,  I felt that we could REALLY knit heaps of beanies and provide an even more valuable service. You will find a pattern on www.ministryofyoga.blogspot.com

Send your beanies to PO Box 14, Mt.Macedon. Vic. 3441. Please don’t send them POD or COD.  It would be cheaper for us to buy beanies if we have to repatriate them from the post office.  The cheapest way to forward them is to collect a whole lot, and then go to office works and take advantage of their new parcel service.  Some Newsagents also have a splendid Australia-wide parcel postage service.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT – AYI YOGA UNIVERSITY
All our classes are available via distance education and you can start any time.  Thank you to those students who are moving from their 200 to another, higher course.  Once you have got into the habit of learning, then it is easy to keep going….   Within our school there are three levels of YOGA TEACHER TRAINING, plus a course in the Gita, the fundamental source of all yoga teaching through the ages.

1.   THE BHAGAVADGITA (YOGIC PHILOSOPHY)
2.    RYTA200 –  THE BASIC YOGA COURSE
3.    RYTA500 – THE NEXT STEP
which you can take in a number of ways.  Must start with 200 hours first.
4.    RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY TRAINING

Most people have never met, and don’t understand, that there are angels all around us whose only job is to make sure that you don’t get too comfortable, fall asleep and miss the important moments (and gifts) in your life.

THE SHOP and ETSY  www.myyogabooks.etsy.com This week I received an email from one of our students who had purchased the chakras and colouring book and REALISED THAT COLOURING THE DRAWINGS  WAS A MEDITATION.  I celebrated.  It has taken a year for a student to understand the reason for the drawings. THANK YOU!  THANK YOU! THANK YOU……!!!
ALL OUR IN-HOUSE DVD’S AND CD’S ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS SITE.  Please remember that they are not flashy high cost productions.  They are made by Deb, Nic and me to answer your various questions.  They are useful in your course.

YIN YOGA/ANATOMY/MEDITATION DVD’s – all with Paul Grilley How many times have I urged you to buy these?  I have lots count.  But they are a great source of information.  This is one of my major sources of course and can be a source for you too.  BUY ALL THREE.  You will never regret it.   They are the best and will form the backbone of your yoga references.  Don’t hold back it will be false economy.   As I have told you before when I bought mine they cost $100 or so each.  I thought that this was a good investment.  I think half that is a steal! And that is what we are selling this for. www.yogabeautiful.com.au   I move with the infinite in nature’s power.  I hold the fire of the soul.  I hold the life and healing”. (Rig Veda)

YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so): We are culling our files and putting old files in archive.  If you have not sent in any modules, and have not communicated in the last year, your file will be archived.  You can still continue your course, but there will be a fee to start it up again.  If you are not sending in modules, and are not communicating, then how can we know if you are a student!

If you are a trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only.

I have found  if you paddle your boat it is easier to maintain the illusion of control, but I tell you it is so much more fun if you pull the oars in and just let the river take you where it will….

TAKE CLASSES WITH JAHNE ANYWHERE, ANY TIME.
VIDEOS:  THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL – THEY ARE NECESSARY! Only $275 per annum. Please look down the list of the videos before you try to do stick drawings, or organise your journal.  I have shown you what I recommend. All you have to do is download.  I even did a video on ‘The Gita.  Good feedback thus far – thank you. Please.  Email us and Debbie will make sure that you are logged in promptly..

GARDENING WITH BENEFITS Please go to our Blog. www.ministryofyoga.blogspot.com to catch up with recipes.

Nothing much is happening in the garden at the moment apart from weeding. Mulching, and keeping the frost off things.

My newest Icy-Pole (Yes, I like them even in the winter time), is Pumpkin puree, Rose-Hip syrup and cream.  Totally gorgeous.  I did make one to which I added cherry brandy to the Rose-Hip syrup – decadent, but quite, quite lovely.   I have not yet put it on the blog, but I will.   Keep checking.

WANT RAISED VEGGIE GARDENS?  One of my students is a member of a large apple growing family, and he has available BIG APPLE CRATES.  Deb has bought two and tells me they are 1.2m square, weathered to a lovely grey.  They are well constructed and would make a fabulous wood box, compost bin, raised garden bed and even with casters on the bottom a reasonable coffee table I am told.  If you want one they are $100 each.  If you live outside of Woodend you will have to collect them.  But they are rather lovely.  Order through Deb. yogafirst2@bigpond.com
