Dear Yogis,
The exhibition opened on Saturday, and already some have sold. Thank you to those who purchased a painting. I put them on the wall at an amazing price, just so I can sell them and get some more and fabulous inks and paints to keep going and keep growing. Yesterday I prepared three new and larges canvases all ready and waiting for new works.
Yesterday I bought an old push-me-pull-me lawn mower for the nature strip. I was driving back from Church, passed the op-shop and there it was. I had to have it, but how to get it home. I had just paid for it (a ridiculously small price), it was raining, I have a small car, and i was wondering how to get it home when Grace walked into the shop – she bundled it into her car and delivered it. It was meant to be. It was all I could do to stop her using it – she has been complaining about a sore back, and this would not have helped.
SATURDAY SEWING BEE. Although a few people asked me to teach drawing, I might later in the year – right now I would like to teach sewing basics. Last year i had a Saturday afternoon SEWING BEE, and it was well attended. Another might be quite good. I have been asked to help make a Church Stole (nothing to do with evening wear). I can do it on my own, or I can invite you all around for a class. These are interesting (simple) items and can be constructed on a sewing machine and incorporate embroidery and appliqué, or they can be completely hand sewn – which greatly appeals to me. I am also free for you to bring some items to me to be sewn, or mended. I have some rather startling fabric here that was thought to be repurposed into a doona, but I might make a skirt instead – not a culotte like the one in the picture. If only fold around here were a little more individual and unafraid in their choice of clothes it would be lots more fun for me!
I don’t know if you recall my lovely slub satin over-shirt, black with red peonies. I wore it so much it almost fell to bits. I have recently mended it (finished last nite) and now it looks beautiful. I oversewed all over with the Japanese moro technique.
I like it even more now, and it will last a few more years although it was not a quick fix. You will see me wearing it in yoga class again.
