Dear Yogis,

ZOOM

FRIDAY:  11am YOGA ZOOM CAFE.  This is just a community of women – we all need community during covid. Everyone welcome.  Email me for an ID.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com
FRIDAY: 5.30 RESTORATIVE YOGA and 6.45 FREE PENDULUM CLASS.  We are working on making a pendulum Board.  Making a Pendulum comes next.  My new board just loves the pendulum I made to go with it – and using it throughout the painting was so fantastic.  I used it to know what to do next, when to add, and importantly WHEN TO STOP.  At the end I was calm, happy and just felt so connected.  Peaceful. And the Board was happy.  The photo to the left is where I  started with the Board.  It looks different now.

SATURDAY: 12.30 RESTORATIVE YOGA, and 2pm TAROT/PENDULUM…WATERCOLOURS
SUNDAY: 10am BHAGAVADGITA STUDY. (TUESDAY: 7.30pm – THE SUTRA STUDY)

RETURN TO LOVE….

Keeping in mind that some of you don’t know about the “Gospel of Mary” (A Gnostic Gospel) – A biblical text which along with others was excluded from the Bible when it was first compiled by The Emperor Constantine advised by King Herod no doubt.  Probably in her case,  on the basis that a woman’s voice couldn’t be heard.

Mary Magdalen’s gospel starts with missing pages – six missing pages.  This is the voice of a woman that we can’t ask, can’t get back.  I wonder what was so incendiary on the first six pages that they had to be destroyed?  Her gospel starts on page seven.    The number is significant, and occurs many times through her Gospel.  The Seven Stages we have to go through, the seven powers we have to confront within ourselves to reach the heart and get past the ego and reveal the infinite within us.  An Interesting correlation to the chakras, which Christ makes also within this Gospel, although they are not called Chakras but “Powers”. In the Story of Samson and Delilah they are called “Locks”.

Three copies of her gospel have been discovered – two in Greek and one in Coptic.  Each of them has these pages missing plus four in the middle. I believe that these pages refer to the question Mary asks of Jesus “So, now, Lord, does a person who sees a vision see it with the soul or the spirit?”  We do have the start of the answer     “The Saviour answered, ‘A person does not see with the soul or with the spirit.  Rather the mind, which exists between the two, sees the vision and that is what…..”

We can’t recover the lost pages, but Last nite as I put the finishing touches to my new pendulum board (which I will reveal for the first time to my free class this evening at 6.45, together with the amazing bone pendant its partner), I thought about the words of Mary Magdalen  “the work we are being called upon to do here is to clothe ourselves with the perfect Human”  This means that we have to do the work which causes us to remember again and again with great ease this experience of self as also a soul.  This soul of love that loves through us. (Above, the photo shows my incomplete MAGDALEN TAROT).

The soul that whispers “come to me all who are heavy laden, and I will give you peace”.

When I paint or create I speak from this place that is otherwise hidden from me, and use a voice that is more than my own.

I believe that when I am (when WE are)  painting and creating I become a voice in the service of love.  When I work from this place, heart can speak to heart directly.  Those who have “two ears” (Her words),  can hear this voice and can understand.  It’s our work to do what we can to remember the soul, to remember the love that is at the heart of how we heal.

We are not perfect.  The point is to constantly arrive, for some of us with each breath.  We constantly return to love.  It is actually right here.  Within.  Our own private heaven.  If like Mary magdalen you can listen to the silence inside of you, hear what love wants you to say and do, then no-one outside of you can ever silence you again.  “I will teach you what is hidden from you”   The Gospel of Mary 6:3

SEE YOU IN CLASS – NAMASTE.  JAHNE

THE SUTRA STUDY CLASSES – Starts this coming Tuesday at 7.30pm

FOCUS: Underlying the physical practice of yoga (the asanas) is a philosophy that provides a blueprint for managing the material world.
we will be studying these concepts… We may not have time for 195 sutras.  A Doctorate could be written on any one of them.  Traditionally like all philosophical/religious texts they used to be chanted in order to commit them to memory, as not everyone could write.  You will not have to commit them to memory, neither will you have to chant them.

Patanjali the compiler of the sutras did not create yoga. He brilliantly compiled its essence entitled PATANJALA-YOGA-DARSANAM meaning viewing yoga according to Patanjali and known in the West as the YOGA SUTRA-S.  Yoga existed long before Patanjali. The Mahabharata refers to yoga on numerous occasions,  each chapter refers to yoga,  and is considered to be one of the primary ancient YOGA SASTRA-S.  We have been studying the ‘Gita and its verses on yoga, in our Sunday classes. It is a surprising text which has brought together for our students a deeper understanding of all aspects of yoga philosophy.  We will continue with these as the background to the sutra study.

BHAGAVADGITA written in approximately 600-200BCE, author – Veda Vyasa, 18 chapters, 700 verses part of the Mahabharata
PATANJALA-YOGA-DARSANA written 500-200BCE, author – Patanjali, 4 chapters, 195 sutras.

We will be studying the concepts as Patanjali listed them.  They are in a deliberate order, most often from outer/external/superficial to inner/internal/deep, and each in order – one leading to the next.  It is interesting to me that the first real word in the text is ARTHA which translates as “in the beginning” and the last real word is SAKTI (the final word “iti”) is equivalent to THE END.  I promise we won’t take three months to discuss these two concepts as I did when studying theology and the Bible, although they are equivalent.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU IN THESE CLASSES – BE PREPARED TO THINK.

NAMASTE. JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

ZOOM:  WEDNESDAY.  RESTORATIVE YOGA 5.30, MINDFULNESS MEDITATION 6.45

THE STORE:  I have put the small, medium and large Pendulum Boards into our store  www.yogabeautiful.com.au and go to the store, and I am working on finishing the WOLF Pendulum Board as I have photographed here.  This will also be available in small,  medium and large.

These Boards can be used for pendulums and the WOLF BOARD can be used as a crystal grid for distant and self healing… it is more powerful than you think.  Once you make friends you will use it every day.

If you want to know how to make these boards come to our TAROT ART CLASS on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.  You can make a board to echo your own practice, use it with your tarot, your pendulum – or just hang it on a wall. You could make MINDFULNESS or AFFIRMATION CARDS… or just greeting cards using our quick and easy methods, even if you don’t think you are artistic.  ($50 for three classes).

YOGA&ART THERAPY COURSE

“We are alive according to the degree we are in contact with our fundamental nature, our essential self, our essence” – Cecil Collins

This course has been a long time in the coming (and making). In just 10 weeks you could learn how to bring a new dimension to your class or your one-on-one therapies… It includes zoom classes, and personal mentoring in zoom with me – this can happen in zoom classes, they can be very personal..

In todays world, especially during the covid lock downs or enclosures, we have the need to integrate art, yoga and ordinary life.  A number of my therapists (when I was the client) have integrated art with my healing.  It was most successful, and enjoyed the ability to see how I was progressing, and the difference when the healing was completed.

You could bring this to your yoga classes, to your meditations, and as an addition to one-on-one therapies.  Art added to your classes is where the rational and mystical work in tandem.  As I have said time after time PERFECTION IS NOT REQUIRED.  You don’t need to be an artist or even have art experience, you just need to be enthusiastic to help your students express themselves and learn more about their healing.  You can start with the chakras.  You all know about them.  You don’t have to be able to draw the complex text book chakras, just how they appear to you and your clients.

It is never too late to start or to return to something you enjoyed as a child. You have everything you need.  The right body, the right mind and a beautiful divine soul.  Creativity  is what you were born for – your version of being creative, not mine.  Doodling could be step one.  Get over the fear of being “less-than”.  Face the fear and do it anyway. In the past your art, your creativity may have been dismissed. You may have been dismissed.  You may have been told you were not artistic, remove this thought. Don’t fix these thoughts in place – feel them to acknowledge them and find out what or whom is visiting from your past.  Yoga&Art will help with this.  If you are not confident to do it for your class DO IT FOR YOURSELF.

There is no need to know how to draw, paint, meditate or even do yoga to come to do this course.  The exercises I have planned are designed to make the experience easy and fun.

If you teach art, or yoga or work as a healer, you will find this course gives you more tools, inspiration and practical suggestions to deepen your professional practice (or begin one).
