Dear Yogis,

ZOOM
TODAY (TUESDAY):  7.30 The CHAKRAS (a further investigation).  I am hoping this can morph into an ART AND YOGA EXPERIENCE, working through the chakras using art, yoga movement and meditation.
WEDNESDAY: 12.30 RESTORATIVE YOGA, 5.30 RESTORATIVE YOGA, 6.45 MINDFULNESS MEDITATION

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?
We have been doing some exciting things whilst we were waiting for you to come home.

“ART AND YOGA” – This is three session ZOOM Workshop experience (and in the studio when we can).  Starting Sunday 25th October 1.30 to 4.30pm for three sessions ($152.50).  We will be working through the chakras using art and yoga.  This is suitable for all levels of experience.  The yoga will be “KUNDALINI” style yoga, and the art is an extension of ZEN DOODLING.

TAROT
This might not seem applicable to where you are at, but in this class we have a student making tarot cards, but we also have students making Affirmation Cards, Mindfulness Cards, and GITA Tarot cards.  Cards that can be used in the yoga classroom when we get back.

They are taking this class down really exciting paths using watercolours, doodling, collage, paper ripping… Learning everything there is to know about making cards, greeting cards and publishing – even making the little book that goes with the cards.
Join us even if you think you are not artistic – you might be surprised.

PENDULUM BOARDS
When the students are ready for a new project and when Stages 3/4 are lifted slightly
we will start new projects.  Our students are having a great time with what started out as a tarot card making, and  has evolved in all directions – I am just the guide.  Next we will make PENDULUM BOARDS.  These can be used with the pendulum, but they are also great artworks which can be featured on a wall, or used as a tabletop under glass.  There are many ways they can be used.

To the right is a photo of my current board project.  I love making them as they incorporate collage, paint, pencils.. a real mixed media bag.  They can be constructed on thick board or as mine are, on plywood.  If you want to join in, you can at any point.  The cost is $50 for three classes.  After the first three classes the students could have wandered off, but we have been going for quite a number of repeats, so it must be fun.  JOIN US.

I am starting more classes starting next Monday 12th at 6.45pm, Saturdays at 10am, and the regular Saturday  2pm class. Let me know if you are interested and we will go from there.

WALKING THE SACRED PATH OF “MAKING ART”…
Making and contemplating the Pendulum Board for me is a metaphor for the Spiritual Journey and as a tool for transformation. “Making” quiets my mind and opens my soul.  WALKING THE SACRED PATH OF “MAKING” shares the discoveries of modern day seekers.  Our classes show us the potential of art to inspire change and renewal, and serves as a guide to help us develop the higher levels of awareness we need to survive the place we find ourselves.  A marriage between soul and spirit.

SEE YOU IN CLASS.

NAMASTE JAHNE

TOPIC FOR TODAY – FAITHFULNESS
What has this to do with you you might ask.  Answer.  “Heaps!”.  The word FAITHFULNESS according to Websters Dictionary means “firm, and adheres to the truth, duty  etc etc….it is quite a long entry.  In Hebrew it translates simply as “to stick to”.   Stick things out.  How many of you have abandoned a task when success was just around the corner, almost there.  How many yoga students give up on a course when they are almost finished on the basis it was too hard, or because I suggested they might do the zoom classes, or come to teacher training on top of study, or perhaps make a plan and keep to it!

I have found that people who are “Faithful in little things”, are faithful in much, and people who are dishonest in little things, are dishonest in much.   The thing to remember is first be faithful in little things.

God (The Universe) will use what is happening in your life to teach you.  Sometimes the teaching is difficult.  For me, I didn’t know how to be a person of excellence.  I was a butterfly flitting from one pretty thing to the next, and God wanted me to learn about the little things.  One teaching I remember was about supermarket trolleys.  Putting the trolley back in the right place EVERY TIME.  When it was hot, or rainy, or I was in a hurry.  Every time.  I believe if I hadn’t learned that small thing, I would not be here zooming with you during covid.  I am living for GOD and I tell you, God is watching.

I had to learn to do it right, even when I wasn’t treated right.  How many of you will choose the DIFFICULT (small) thing and do it right in order to be faithful no matter what.  How many of you are “not good with the time” and are always late, or don’t turn up, or don’t say thank you? If you keep on making excuses, you will continue to live in a haze of forgetfulness and guilt.  By doing what is right, you will get the reward. For those who read the Bible, check out the Book of Ruth ch.2 – the story about Ruth and Boaz.  It is all about faithfulness and its rewards…

IF YOU WILL BE FAITHFUL IT RELEASES ABUNDANCE IN YOUR LIFE.

Maybe some of you have projects you are ready to quit. Keep doing them – even when they are no longer exciting, even when you are not getting the results you think you should. Faithfulness is the firm adherence to duty and truth..  Like me, no matter where you are at in your life, God will teach you lessons.  Little things are just as important as big things.

Whilst some students are reluctant to make small changes to succeed, others really put skin in the game.  On Sunday one of our new students did the class whilst she was riding her bicycle on the Great Ocean Road. She had promised long ago to do this ride, and she had recently signed up for yoga teacher training – and she did both.  She could have made excuses, but she didn’t.  She even had time to email a “thank you” at the end of the class.

Where were you?  What caused you to “forget” or make excuses..

All you need, all I need is “little winks” from God to keep me going.  Small glimpses into heaven every now and again. That student was a “wink from God” to me.

SEE YOU AT THE TOP.
NAMASTE.  JAHNE

SUNDAY is a day of rest, so a short message.

EXCUSES

EXCUSES!  So many people (and my students) have excuses about almost everything. For instance “I can’t do yoga because I have children”, “I can’t come on zoom because I have to go for a walk”,” I can’t study because I am not in the right place”, “I can’t finish the course because it is too hard and I procrastinate”, “I can’t read the book because it is too big”.  Making excuses builds a monument you can worship which leads NOWHERE. Today is your opportunity to make something out of nothing.  That is what is required of you.  You cannot wait for the world to stabilise before you do the right thing, before you walk forward.

WHAT IS YOUR MISSION?   Everything won’t be right so don’t wait for the perfect moment. You are going to have to do whatever you have said you would do,  in an unstable environment,  and learn to function well in an atmosphere of instability.  Another question is what is your Dharma – who/what do you have duty to?  Remember the Purushatras.

Hold your balance.  Hang on to something that doesn’t change.  You can’t control the terrain but you can control your balance.  Ride whatever the issue is, right through to the end. If you get a chance to rest take it, then get back on the bike.

SEE YOU ON THE MAT.

NAMASTE. JAHNE
