Dear Yogis,

I didn’t write a newsletter yesterday because I was so busy getting the gallery looking good (rather than just a place to “put” things).  The gallery studio open again today at 2.30 and I hope you push the boat out, call in if you are passing and see what I am doing.

I would especially like it if you liked the portraits and small works enough to commission a portrait for yourself.  Maybe this is the opportunity you are waiting for to get a portrait hidden away for Christmas (yes there is a Christmas tree in IGA).  The picture on the left is my interpretation of “The Girl with the Pearl Earring” – a very well known portrait on a 30x30cm deep canvas.

If you want a portrait all you need to do is email me a good picture in JPEG format and I will work from that.Email me and we can chat.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com

For an 20cm x 20cm  (8 inch square) canvas the price is $220 including postage/unframed – These look good as a family group – three or four grouped together, and if you chose that I would need a photograph for each sitter (and i would negotiate a cheaper price)
For a 30 x 30cm deep stretched canvas the price is $450 including postage unframed.

They will be an Artist Portrait, not a photograph or print.  An original.

NAMASTE .  JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

It’s Wednesday and this  (in the news lately) will not cheer you up.  Have you heard of QUANTUM COMPUTERS?   It’s a bit like Oppenheimer and the bomb.  He was on the spectrum and could only see the analytical conundrum he had to solve – he didn’t understand at all the human cost. He just could not understand.  That is exactly the problem we have here.  There may not be physical destruction, noise and firestorms, but this could be almost the same digitally.

Classic computers perform calculations using ones and zeros. Quantum computers use qubits, which are in a quantum state of both one and zero at the same time.  When such computer is perfected, (and clever males are working on them right now in fact firing one up in Sydney), CHAOS will be the result.  Once developers achieve error-corrected, large-scale quantum computing, quantum-powered hacking will become a reality, and those clever quantum developers are harvesting data now, knowing that when the computer is ready they will be able to unpack with ease things that are impossible now.

Imagine what will happen to the banking system, Government departments – and what about YOU when suddenly none of your data is secure. NONE OF IT.  Banking could be disrupted and accounts pilfered. Private messages, health records, government secrets hacked and exposed in seconds. Military plans, weapon design and classified intelligence from ASIO left ripe for the picking by anyone with access to the right quantum tools.

Unlike Y2K, we don’t have a time and date for when Q-Day will strike. Some predict it will come within 10 to 15 years.. Others reckon it will arrive much quicker as governments pour funds into the quantum.  I don’t have any clever suggestions, except to just buy a safe and hide spare CASH, DIAMONDS, GOLD in it.  It is about the only long term personal security available as far as I can see..  The mind boggles.

OPEN STUDIO (and STOCK ROOM BROCANTE SALE) – Friday 3rd May 5.30 to 7.30 and then Saturday 2.30 to 5pm

I have sooooo many ideas – I just want to keep on working but today I have to get the paintings ready for hanging, tomorrow hang and organise, and on Friday tart the exhibition up, add the labels, get the wine ready,  and wait for my clients to arrive!!! Then tomorrow I can start working on the next body of work – I have learned so much in the last year, and so much about myself….

Dear Yogis,

What a wonderful weekend I have had.

Painting, yoga luncheon at the Victoria (splendid) and teacher training with chanting on Sunday.

I am on the hunt for a second hand Shruti Box in good condition.  If you have one, know of one, contact me.  It will make a big difference to our chanting sessions.  A Shruti Box is the hand held “organ” that contributes the drone sound you hear in chanting sessions.

OPEN STUDIO.  The last one was on the 13th of February… seems like yesterday.  The next open day is on Friday the 3rd May at 5.30 to 7.30 then Saturday from 2.30 to 5pm.  Please come along.  I have lots and lots of new work – the the Krishna in the photograph above.  It is a photographic transfer on canvas from my original painting.  I was thrilled to discover (accidentally) that it has a stained glass quality when again the light.  It could work well with a globe or a candle behind it – imagine it next to a night light, or your personal altar.
