Dear Yogis,

As the economy gets more difficult, clients are booking for the Tarot.  Thank goodness the need for “tall dark and handsome” persons has diminished in favour of “resources, challenges and lessons”.  If you want clues about moving forward, please make an appointment – give me a couple of options.

I am here most days, and can be available on the weekends and on zoom.  email: yogafirst2@bigpond.com

You can also find me at The Mount Macedon Art Gallery (down the lane beside The Trading Post) on Sunday the 2nd July between 10am and 1pm. I am on the desk, so no tarot readings, but you can touch base and book.

NAMASTE – JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

Wednesday, Wednesday…. the days pass so quickly. Terms end – almost.

Things are changing – couples spitting, homes selling, people passing on… everything making for big change.  When there is a separation and divorce (whatever form it may take) keep in mind that the person you are leaving, you asked to be with you (when you yourself were on “the other side”),  so that you could learn the things you can’t learn on your own, patience, calm, or whatever… I am doing more “past life” readings and tarot as people seek the next step.

Sometimes you need to return to earth with a special angel who will do the things needed to teach you the lessons nothing else could teach you.  What would Jesus be without Judas for instance?  You may not like the lessons you need, and it may take you a very long time to learn them, but don’t hate your teacher – honour him/her, and “may you always be friends” as it says in the Hindu wedding ceremony.  No “till death do us part” for them, they are much too realistic and forgiving.

If you don’t learn, if you don’t want to learn, or if you don’t know there are things to learn, you will get to come back and try again.  Lucky you!

The lady in the photo is a gypsy (or a witch), hence the black hat.  She may have had a broom which was a sign of a “brewster” –  a lady brewer.  These courageous stalwarts of communities who made brews when village water was dangerous and dispensed herbal remedies, were so successful that they were burned and dunked by the church or jealous men.  Nothing much changes does it?

ART

Here is the painting I am restoring – looks a whole lot better don’t you think.   You could hardly tell there was a painting there in the beginning – you could just see the tip of the mountain peak through all the grime.  Now you can see that it is in fact a mountain scene.  Painted by a New Zealand artist from the 1920’s, I think it is going to look splendid when it is reframed.

Now for the frame.  I will show you when it is completed.  If you have a painting that needs restoring, come see me.

NAMASTE – JAHNE

Hi there yogis,

A cold weekend just made for reading and catching up… here is something I read,  a quote from Carl Sagan I dredged up from my records…  He was a terrific man and I was lucky enough to know him – he made The Best yorkshire puddings at christmastime.

“I have a foreboding of an America in my children’s or grandchildren’s time — when the United States is a service and information economy; when nearly all the manufacturing industries have slipped away to other countries; when awesome technological powers are in the hands of a very few, and no one representing the public interest can even grasp the issues; when the people have lost the ability to set their own agendas or knowledgeably question those in authority; when, clutching our crystals and nervously consulting our horoscopes, our critical faculties in decline, unable to distinguish between what feels good and what’s true, we slide, almost without noticing, back into superstition and darkness…

The dumbing down of American is most evident in the slow decay of substantive content in the enormously influential media, the 30 second sound bites (now down to 10 seconds or less), lowest common denominator programming, credulous presentations on pseudoscience and superstition, but especially a kind of celebration of ignorance”

REGISTRATION – COURSES

Talking about sound bites.  Please – If you have not addressed your course in some time, if you have not registered, do it now.  It is not entirely fair to suddenly realise you have not emailed us for YEARS, and expect that life will just fall into place for you.  I know from my own experience, if you don’t contact course providers for 6 months, you are discontinued whether you have paid in full or not.  I have stretched that, but the elastic will only stretch so far!!!  I will provide an amnesty to the beginning of the financial year (July 2023), then I will put in place a penalty.  You can’t expect to just pick up with no cost.

If you have not registered yet this year, here is another thing that needs to be done yearly.  Please check your records, and get up to date.  No penalties here except for the fact that you are not entirely complying, and are not a member of this Institute without a yearly registration – if you check with accountants for instance, registration and ongoing training is mandatory for them, and many other professions.  We are professionals, and we have to act like professionals – REGISTER NOW.

YOGA

Unexpectedly more students enquiring for class, and I have both classes full on Monday…  I hope this is your experience.  Maybe my experience has to do with a little for sale notice on the Kyneton Yoga Business.  I would love it if I have outlived another “fabulous” yoga business…how many is that???
