THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE IS MISSION DRIVEN AND MEMBER SUPPORTED.  BECOME A REGISTERED MEMBER……

Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute….

Dedicated to a tradition of excellence in teaching for more than 40 years, The Australasian Yoga Institute offers yoga teachers comprehensive and systematic training in classical yoga. We teach yoga techniques for body, breath, mind and spirit in 200hr and 500hr certification programs. Our programs include training in meditation, asana. GOOD MORNING DEAR STUDENTS
EMAIL CHANGE: Please use yogafirst@optusnet.com.au (anything to do with accounts), Or the usual yogafirst2@bigpond.com. If you do want to speak to me personally, then email, make a time suitable for both of us, and then we can chat. If you do it this way, rather than just “wing it”, you can be reasonably sure I have time, and you will get my attention. POSTAL ADDRESS is not at my home – small mail box out in the open means that rain is an issue. Please address all land mail to the address it has always been – PO Box 14, Mt.Macedon. Vic. 3441. Until you see it written here in large letters, that is where it will be.

TIME – good servant bad master…. This month I have been working with people who are dying more immediately than the rest of us (we are all dying really). The text that I am using through this process is DEAD MAN by Johnny Depp. It is a fabulous teaching/learning program which is relevant to the younger students – and I am loving it too. The soundtrack is pretty fabulous. CANCELLATION:  The LEVEL 2 Restorative Yoga Workshop that was going to be held this weekend – is cancelled. I will let you know when the next one will be. Probably the end of June. TRAVELLING: Although Queensland isn’t far away, travelling anywhere is problematic nowadays. I remember when I would just take off and say to Deb. “Hi there, I am leaving on Friday – you are in charge”…and head off.  Not possible now. There are so many things happening to keep me at home. Busy, busy, busy. I just can’t fit one more thing in.

SCHOLARSHIP – Just to recap. This has not yet been decided, but will be by the end of the month. Then the real excitement will start.

VIDEOS: Please note. Videos are subscribed on a one year basis. Doesn’t matter how long you pay the course off  – 12 or 18 months. Doesn’t matter how long you take to do the course. The videos are always a 12 month subscription. Once the 12 months is up the computer will remind you. When you are finished the 12 months you can take them month by month and pay them month by month. Also take note that the videos are not in order. I do them and did them when students asked for them were. I did them in response to questions, and not to make money, or match up with the modules. Now that I am getting really organised, thanks to some help, I will do more. What is Nirvana? Seeing one thing through to the end. Hell is not a punishment, it is training.   RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY – JUST TO RE-CAP….CANCELLED:  LEVEL 2 is the RESTORATIVE YOGA COURSE and the Introduction to Therapy with emphasis on Structural Yoga Therapy..THE NEW LEVEL 2 COURSE IS TAKING BOOKINGS FOR THE SECOND WORKSHOP IN CASE YOU MISSED THE FIRST – planned date 27th and 28th May, IS CANCELLED.  For the best – the latest about Restorative Yoga Therapy classes, Training and THE ALLIANCE….
Go To www.restore.moonfruit.com If you want to get your Restorative Yoga Therapy Certification at Level 2 and move on to level 3, then you will need to do your LEVEL 1 FIRST. You need that certificate BEFORE you can do Level 2. Please pay attention. For previous students: If you have done the last workshop, loved it and would like to repeat it (every class is a little different)  you can for a small fee, I would love you to join in and share your experiences since your workshop.

“THE RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY ALLIANCE” – is a project we are currently working on, using The International Yoga Therapy Assoc. as our model. It will take us years to get to their level of perfection – but it is something you need. It will be an organisation aligned to The Australasian Yoga Institute. A branch of The Institute which will be inviting papers, focusing and sharing the more therapy aspects of what we do in Restorative Yoga. Not a medical model, but certainly a healing model.

“MASSAGE ALLIANCE” – I am still working on this. It seems a logical outcome of our work aligned to Restorative yoga therapy. I do it in this context, and not as a stand-alone hands on “Fix-it”. Massage used in this way is remarkable, and makes everything else you do in a session deeper and and more meaningful.

WITH REGARD TO STUDENT INSURANCE AND REGISTRATION (again):

One of the core reasons I am going to Queensland is to get to the core of the problems that are occurring within our fantastic insurance facility. We have had to deal with the repercussions of the flooding, the confusion caused by the AJGallagher Sports Department temporary take-over, and the up date of the policies.

WHEN YOU SHOULD INSURE: We based the course on graduating students in an average of 18 months to two years. Keeping this in mind we thought you would not need insurance for those two years, so we gave you the first 12 months insurance and registration free, and ditto for the second – if you were not yet teaching. However, this is changing as more people who are teaching already are joining our course to get registered and insured. If you are not teaching then you don’t need to be insured, and you will be registered when you graduate.

If you do start teaching whilst you are still working on the course, then you will need STUDENT REGISTRATION in order to get STUDENT INSURANCE. These are an extra cost and you should factor them in, as you must also factor in your videos which are also a yearly subscription. The first year is paid for in your fee, but from thereon it is up to you to renew. This is not an unusual ask.

Why Register with THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE?  Registration says you are a member of our school (and proud to be so), and at the very least the income received from the cost of registration allows us to give out scholarships, and help others in their desire to teach. It is not mandatory, but it is recommended, and we encourage you to do it. How do you support and encourage your lineage? – or do you perhaps dream up a more glamorous version, something featuring India perhaps? We have a wonderful lineage that goes back through the Gita School to India and Tibet. My Heart Guru, Margrit Segesman the founder of the Gita school (a very important part of our lineage)  was sent to Australia from India and Tibet to teach yoga by her Heart Guru, but she never disclosed who that was – seeking to break the “guru tradition”. When you register you are not just supporting our endeavours, you are acknowledging the wonderful teacher that Margrit Segesman was…and yoga is. A living tradition. Support us by being a fabulous teacher, and in time Affiliating with us, and taking our traditions into a complete Teacher Training School of your own.

Right now – TODAY, mark in your diary when your registration and insurance are due – Registration and insurance should be applied for YEARLY on the same day (it is easier this way).   – at this time contact us if WE (this office) have not contacted you. Note well  that although Lloyds of London are noted as the underwriter, AJGallagher is the insurer. If you have an issue contact us – we have a AJG/Parmia hot line, and we are the interface between you and them THE AYI COURSE VIDEOs.  WHATEVER YOU THINK, WHATEVER YOU KNOW, WHEREVER YOU CAME FROM BEFORE YOU START THIS COURSE – WATCH THEM.  That is why I did them!  As it says in your initial emailed information pack, from the very first one with how to set yourself up clearly noted, please make a journal note of all the yoga you do in a day, and that includes the videos. A computer is just a computer, and whilst we make every effort to get them to comply with our will, they sometimes don’t. If you have a daily journal and mark down in it all the yoga you do and watch, and then on a monthly basis transfer the totals to your passport, you will have a hard copy record, and a computer record.

THE Australasian yoga institute  DHARMA SCHOOL:  Years ago I was walking to the yoga class in the morning, and I thought to myself “ This would be a wonderful lifestyle one day”, and then another voice said “What is ONE DAY, you are living this lifestyle today.  Wake up!” .  Maybe I am at that point again. I have a Dharma School,  I just haven’t seen it correctly! I am teaching yoga, I am massaging, teaching philosophy, getting into the deeper topics – what else is needed?  Nothing….

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT YAMAS AND CHAKRAS – my own little books are on etsy. Why spend hours looking for the information when you can pay from under $10 for these books and have a very valuable easy-to-read reference and resource www.myyogabooks.etsy.com. If you get them and read them they will help you with many of the concepts that you are having trouble with especially in your modules. Go to “CHOOSE LIFE”, a home based on-line restore and recover program. YOGA NIDRA USB on ETSY.  For those of you who want to do yoga nidra like we do (like I do). Now you can. I have done a USB stick so you can plug it in and have a wonderful, long meditation whenever you can. Please go to my growing shop on www.myyogabooks.etsy.com

THEOSOPHICAL SOCIETY: Please people, make it an important thing to do – don’ t leave it as part of your “ bucket list”. If you are looking for reference books THE THEOSOPHICAL LIBRARY is the go-to place. There are books there you will see no-where else. I go at least once a month. It is very old fashioned and you have to pay per term to be a member, but I urge you to do this. It is situated in a beautiful old building between Bourke street and Little Collins Street in Melbourne.  Maybe you could join the Society. It is interesting to me how many of you grumble about the unavailability of books, but neglect this fabulous resource even when you are directed to it!

Its Three Objects are 1. To form a nucleus of the Universal brotherhood of Humanity without distinction of race, creed, sex, cast or colour. 2. To encourage the study of Comparative Religion, Philosophy and Science. 3. To investigate unexplained Laws of nature and the powers latent in the human being. Approval of these objectives is the only condition of membership. YIN YOGA/ANATOMY/MEDITATION DVD’s –Please indulge in ALL three
They are the best, and will form the backbone of your yoga references. As I have told you before when I bought mine they cost $100 or so each. I thought that this was a good investment, and I still do. We have had to increase the price TWICE – everything everywhere is going up, and we have held this price for a number of years. Now $57.50. At this price we are accounting for currency increases and decreases, and they are still cheaper than I paid for mine initially. Look at Ebay – everyone is about the same. At twice the price they are still worth having. With Christmas coming, please order yours today. I don’t have many left and I am waiting for more stocks to arrive in the mail – at this time of the year they sometimes get caught up in customs. www.myyogabooks.etsy.com

THE GARDEN AND THE BEES – This is the time of winter harvest, leeks, parsley, herbs, AND QUINCES. The smell alone is worth having in the home.

REGARDING THE OFFICE: Thank you all so much for living the Yamas. Now, direct that wonderful energy to looking for the time your registration and insurance is due…let us know when you change address and emails

ATTENTION: EMAIL NUMBER. There was a problem with the server, but this has been fixed until the next time – For anything, anything at all please email me at yogafirst2@bigpond.com. If you do not your emails may get lost, as I am gradually going to get rid of the other email numbers…. Do not ring unless you have not got email, or you have an urgent question. Email, leave your number and I will get back to you. Phones?  We are being re-organised, even here…. So at the moment my number is 0402 088 170  – preferably leave a text or email. I will return your calls when I can – I am not a slave to either the computer or the phone, so you may find that emails or text (which I always recommend) work out best.

I am always as close as the post or the email, always working to make things better, dig deeper. Why? So you can be the best you can be. Email me, talk to me, send me photographs (send me questions). I look forward to hearing from you.  For more wonderful, delicious thoughts log on to our Web site www.yogabeautiful.com.au and tune in to our videos daily.

ENJOY – Love and Blessings,  Namaste Jahne

SHEPPARTON VISIT:  Had a wonderful visit to Shepparton. As usual everything about the trip was splendid. The hospitality of the town enhanced by the wonderful owner and staff at The Carrington is always exceptional. I love that I always get The Honeymoon Suite – only because it is big big big enough to hold yoga classes. When I first visited The Carrington my room overlooked an ex–lake, a dustbowl in the summer. This has changed, and now the lake is a tourist destination, and beautiful. Yoga is going gangbusters in the town too. I trained so many of the teachers. It is wonderful that they have taken up the challenge  and are living, working and teaching beautifully. YOGA MARKETING SCHOLARSHIP – This will be announced in our NEXT newsletter. I don’t want to jinx the program by announcing too soon, although I am tempted.

VIDEOS: Please note. When you first signed up you were given a password to access the videos.  There is lots more on them than you may anticipate, so go for it…  watch them. They will answer a lot of your questions, and they will save you having to do some questions a second time.. What is Nirvana? Seeing one thing through to the end. Hell is not a punishment, it is training.   If you want to get your Restorative Yoga Therapy Certification at Level 2 and move on to level 3, then you will need to do your LEVEL 1 FIRST. You need that certificate BEFORE you can do Level 2. WITH REGARD TO STUDENT INSURANCE AND REGISTRATION (again):

Had a wonderful meeting in Queensland with the Insurance company, and now understand much more about how they are trying to accommodate us, and provide the very best insurance and policies to help us.  We were their very first Yoga company on their books, and we are still looked after as though that remains the case – although we know it couldn’t be.  They must grow as we must also.

WHEN YOU SHOULD INSURE:  We based the course on graduating students in an average of 18 months to two years.  Keeping this in mind we thought you would not need insurance for those two years, so we gave you the first 12 months insurance and registration free, and ditto for the second – if you were not yet teaching. .  However, this is changing as more people who are teaching already are joining our course to get registered and insured.   If you are not teaching then you don’t need to be insured, and you will be registered when you graduate.

Why Register with THE AUSTRALASIAN YOGA INSTITUTE?  Thank you all the students who have responded to this call. My Heart Guru, Margrit Segesman the founder of the Gita school (a very important part of our lineage)  was sent to Australia from India and Tibet to teach yoga by her Heart Guru, but she never disclosed who that was – seeking to break the “guru tradition”..

Nothing….

The course will be over 12 weeks and you will be working one-on-one with a guy in America who has been the marketing manager for Yoga Journal as well as LuLuLemon and many others. If you had to get this for yourself on the open market it would cost I am told, about $10,000. This is a fabulous, unbelievable opportunity. Keep watching this space, but start thinking about your application. It is ready and waiting for the student who  wins….

FIRST AID COURSE HOORAY, PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHED DOCUMENT AND GET YOUR STUDENT NUMBER, AND DO THE ASSESSMENT.  EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO DO THE COURSE MUST DO THIS FIRST OR THEY WILL NOT GET A CERTIFICATE.  WE GOT THE PRICE DOWN:  Well we also got the level down, which wasn’t easy because everything is about to change, and soon there will only be one expensive level. If you would like to join us at our studio for the mandatory first aid course, we are holding it on Thursday 20th April. The cost for this level 1 certification will be $75 per person!! You will need to do a pre–registration questionnaire which will take about 20 minutes. If you would like to join us, please put this in your diary. Email me to book a space at yogafirst2@bigpond.com. We ask you to DD the amount to us by the 14th April (and get your student number and do the assessment). Please send me the receipt so that I can be sure we get it sent to the right account.

VIDEOS:  These are not in order. I do then and did them when students asked for them…  I have slowed down in the last while, but will crank up again when I have time.

A SURVEY: One of our tech savvy teachers – Nic (Tuesday yoga class at The Bentinck) has prepared two surveys for us which we ask you to spend a few minutes completing. We are trying to gauge how we can help you best with classes and trainings, and we can’t know until you tell us. These are just short, please take the time https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LQ27ZNC   FOR CLASS TIMES
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LZNN75L   FOR TEACHERS What is Nirvana? Seeing one thing through to the end. Hell is not a punishment, it is training.   RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY – PLEASE PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS. It is important if you want to progress. I am working every day to get it properly accredited and the right boxes to be ticked. If you want to talk to me about the course, email me, and give me a few time options and we can schedule a phone call.

RESTORATIVE YOGA THERAPY TRAINING AT MY HOME STUDIO. THE NEW LEVEL 2 COURSE IS TAKING BOOKINGS FOR THE SECOND WORKSHOP IN CASE YOU MISSED THE FIRST – planned date 27th and 28th May,  2pm to 4.30 on Saturday, 1pm to 4pm Sunday.

The Restorative Yoga is becoming the backbone of our practice, and there have been some new developments. I have already informed most of you that there are three levels.

LEVEL 1 is the teach yourself course on www.myyogabooks.etsy.com

LEVEL 2 is the RESTORATIVE YOGA COURSE and the Introduction to Therapy with emphasis on Structural Yoga Therapy..

And LEVEL 3 (coming later in the year) In this I am presenting a course which will include nutrition, the use of exclusive essential oils and therapeutic mixtures which can be prescribed and used in conjunction with the yoga to make it a stand- alone clinical practice. This would be a great addition to the practice of those who are doulas (both with pregnant women and the dying), and those who routinely work with the chronically ill, people in recovery… etc etc.

We are an Approved Training Provider with IICT, and they have contacted me with regards to accrediting this course. So I will of course be moving in that direction too.

You cannot do LEVEL 3 if you have not done LEVEL 1,  LEVEL 2  and started out with the RYTA200. This will be truly a therapy course. There is nothing like it in the world today. If you are looking for a life path, if you really do want to become a yoga PRACTITIONER rather than a YOGA TEACHER, then this is for you. The curriculum is not complete, and the Level 3 course will not be until later next year, but there is lots you have to do between now and then.

LEVEL 1 is on ETSY right now, you can start now, and The next RESTORATIVE LEVEL 2 will be delivered where we advise. I am working on Level 3 and the “Alliance”. Level 1 is not a hard course, but it is not a “rubber stamp”. If you don’t pass the exam for level 1, then there will not be an option to move to level 2 unless you re-sit the exam until such time as I can see you have understood.

If you are almost at the end of your Teacher Training, do this practical course, and catch up with the theory at a later date.

Please email me, and let me know your intention, or go to www.restore.moonfruit.com for details and an application.

(I will travel to you to deliver the workshop if you can get 5 students – you and 4 more).

WITH REGARD TO STUDENT INSURANCE AND REGISTRATION (again):

The Insurance company that works with us in Queensland – and yes, it has been UNDERWATER. They are up and running again, and will get the the back log as soon as they can.

Right now – TODAY, mark in your diary when your registration and insurance are due – at this time contact us if we have not contacted you. Note well  that although Lloyds of London are noted as the underwriter, AJGallagher is the insurer. If you have an issue contact us – we have a hot line, and we are the interface between you and them THE AYI COURSE VIDEOs.

The last teacher training (Sunday 2nd April), was fabulous as usual. We studied the ROTATOR CUFF, which we will be repeating a a slightly different format in Bendigo this week. We started the class as we usually do – with philosophy. The classroom situation is so valuable, and wandering off the course is part of the learning experience. Don’t miss it.

YOGA RETREAT with the Euroa Group on the weekend was fantastic.  They stayed at Continental House (very 1920’s) in Hepburn springs.  The modern girls retreat is a lot different to what I have experienced.  This was all fun and games, with massages etc.  And my meditation and Singing Bowl workshops.  It was terrific.  Thanks Heidi, and everyone who attended.

THE GARDEN AND THE BEES – We are back to winter. Thank goodness we did the preparation, and got the bees winter ready. Now the flow will slow down, and we will be protecting the hive against the cold. I am exploring winter flowering natives for the bees. The herbs are doing well, and winter veggies are thinking about the weather before they burst forth. Its cold, cold, cold and wet here.

REGARDING THE OFFICE: Thank you all so much for living the Yamas. Now, direct that wonderful energy to looking for the time your registration and insurance is due…let us know when you change address and emails
