Good morning Yogis,

A short one…but we could make it a” long one”.  The yoga teachers who come through our school are not just personal trainers, they are “yoga therapists/health coaches”.  We take broken people and we get to the heart of the matter (something I would say impossible over a video, but at the heart of my classes and my teachings).  For instance two friends may come to your class.  They are both over-weight and depressed.  After speaking with them, and maybe spending some time in class with them we discover the one is depressed because they are over-weight and the other is overweight because they are depressed.  Do we think the same yoga regime will work for both?  Yes, yoga will help both, but for each there has  to be a different emphasis which is directed by their different needs.

And this is where yoga differs from other health approaches.  We do not draw a line between the physical body and the other four dimensions of the human system.  If one dimension is affected, all are affected.

Keep in mind – YOGA HEALS…  Remember, there is a difference between fixing (that doctors try to do), curing  (that the medical system and  specialist you are referred to tries to do), and HEALING that yoga DOES.  This aspect is what I am teaching in my next course on etsy “HOW AND WHY YOGA WORKS”.

We also need to balance the system with good diet, exercise, relaxation, and supplementation, and I have found during the Covid time that Flower and herbal essences from my garden are making the biggest difference to me, and to my students who are getting me to post out remedies especially for them. I do make a powerful Olive Leaf Extract that works wonderfully on the bronchi, see the video “jahnehopewilliams, you tube” then we have the usual TYOH oil, and Reishi, plus as I said, especially made essences from the garden and hedgerows.  I am loving this time of deep learning, foraging and preparing these essences.  Home-stay is such a gift.    I am not only eating the greens I find on my daily wanderings (plants that  are young, fresh and luscious), I am making essences from them too.  I am stunned that I never see anyone else when I am out picking my salads… I have the forest to myself.  Lovely of course, but where are my yogis?

If you are interested, if I can help.  Please contact me on yogafirst2@bigpond.com

In this time of Covid, my pendulum and I can help you.

Stay well and stay safe.  Namaste  Jahne

Dear Yogis,

I am so sorry.  A few of you have contacted me asking if they could come to class.  There isn’t a class, there are no groups allowed, and it would not be honest (yamas again) even if we think we are perfectly safe.  Yesterday it was a beautiful day, and I imagine we could have had a class that came within the guidelines on the driveway, but imagine how the people walking past and looking out of their windows would have reacted.  The Covid police would have turned up.  In Gisborne the suburb next to mine they are doing long shifts, and making quite a few bookings of people not following the rules. AND ANOTHER MONTH TO GO I believe.  Keep checking in on yoga beautiful.  If there is a change, you will find it there – and here.  I will do regular newsletters. (PS>  No tarot classes either until the “ban” is lifted).

To help (I think) I am doing small course compiled from my Sunday Teacher Training notes and I have called it HOW (and why) YOGA WORKS.  Today so many people want to explore yoga but only know the asanas, and think that perfect poses will get them to Nirvana.  Well, it may, but a different one – an Ego based Nirvana. The one where you look in the mirror and you think your body and pose are so perfect and your lycra is so beautiful that you can hardly breathe for joy.  Or the Nirvana you THINK your way into by taking apart every feeling, every emotion and examining it to death, and feeling good about the pain and confusion.  I haven’t felt these, but I have seen people having that orgasm, and felt sorry for the journey ahead of them.  They forget that they have the perfect tool, YOGA, but it obviously is not the yoga they know about.

The one I know is the “everything yoga” not just the “start with yoga” discipline.  The yoga I know is the one where you trust the journey whatever it is – the one where you know your karma is at work, and relax into that, doing your best minute to minute – that’s the one I do.  Sometimes I “win” sometimes not, whatever comes I trust the journey.  I trust the Universe (God?).  I am not as good as I am going to be, but I am a whole lot better than I used to be.

I will put the course on Etsy (www.myyogabooks.etsy.com),  probably in three parts so you (and I) won’t be overwhelmed, and I will make some videos you can watch.  I think it will be helpful now and in the future.  It certainly will enlarge and enhance your teaching, and maybe your understanding.  Every time I read my notes, and I read them often,  I find the ideas challenging and I learn something new.

This time we find ourselves in isn’t about surviving.  It is about growing, and thriving, and coming out stronger and better.  ALL IS WELL.

Namaste – Jahne.

Good morning yogis and friends..

The whole point of Christianity, and why Jesus was different from all the prophets and magicians that were alive and promoting themselves at the time he was alive, is shown most clearly over Easter – in particular the RESURRECTION.  Without this, there would be no Christianity.  Just believing that Jesus was a Man, is not enough.  There were many at that time doing magical things, calling themselves God. It was the life and most importantly the death and resurrection that no-one else did (few would be willing to do knowing the end) that singled this Man out from the others.  Yes, the life could be seen as politically arranged, the death wasn’t any different to thousands of others that took place at that time – it WAS THE RESURRECTION that caused people through the ages to sit up and take notice.  Who was this man who could see the end and go there anyway whatever it took,  for the greater good?  You may never want to go there.  You may never want to ask yourself this question.. you may have filtered it through your logical mind, but sooner or later it will pop up, and maybe one day you will answer it.

In the meantime…..

What did it cost you to come to the mat today? Yesterday? All the days?

What did to cost you to sing to your children today?

Today you can buy music 99cents per download, or free. How much is your song worth?

The praise is worth more than the product.  Music can be internal, or external.  Michael Jackson was so good at singing that he made you think your song was as good as his song.  That  if you wanted to sing like him, all you needed was one glove instead of two.  That is all it would take.  The right singer with the right song makes you think you can sing anything.  The right song gives you strength (Some songs of course drive you inwards towards your brokenness).  Your life is a song.

Singing when things are good is easy, but how can you sing in the middle of death?

Did you ever think about the fact that there are 12 notes in the piano scale.  12 black keys, 12 white ones.  In every song you have ever heard these 12 notes featured to a greater or lesser extent.  It is a scale of infinite possibilities, as you are a song of infinite possibilities.  There are 12 notes in the scale,  and there were 12 disciples.  Jesus prayed/sang those 12 disparate people into a symphony.  Out of the 12 only one chose his own death, only one died of “natural” causes. Judas.  The other eleven became martyrs for what they believed in and gave their lives up willingly (perhaps Judas did too).  They believed in their song.

What is your song? One note is a song others can hear.  When a three note cord happens, we know that we are meant to be here.

Do what you want, but I am going to keep singing.  You may like it, you may not like it.  I am going to keep on singing.

NAMASTE and HAPPY EASTER…..   JAHNE
