We are now into lockdown 4.  Didn’t realise there was a lockdown until I went to Coles at about 5pm Friday. The traffic was “end of the world” kind of traffic!  The last parking spot was mine… No toilet paper, no potatoes, no onions, no bread…. etc etc  I didn’t need or want any of those and bought the last bag of baby carrots, and the last fennel so all is well here.  I can exist from what I have now for a very long time, so if it is extended it makes no difference to me.  I hope and pray that you are the same.

THE NEWSLETTER:  I promised that during lockdown it would come out each day.  We are in lockdown, so I will send out a newsletter each day.

STUDIO CLASSES.  It seems that other yoga centres are closing…So we are back to ZOOMING. Monday at 1pm and Wednesday at 5.30pm.  All our other classes are zoom so there is no change there. Please have on hand all your own props. towels etc as usual.  If you have weights (waits) and bands, please bring them to the zoom class. Although this is supposed to end on Wednesday, it may not?.

THE BREATH:

I urge you to book in for THE BREATH WORKSHOP.  Next Saturday the 20th at 10am.  It was never more important than it is now.  Breathing naturally boosts the immune system, and this is needed.  We have learned to clean up the oceans, the skies, and get solar powered, we have tamed many of the bugs that killed our ancestors.  On average we live three times as long as people in the Industrial age in Britain – HOWEVER, we have lost touch with our most basic and important biological function.  THE BREATH.

You may follow the food guide pyramid, you may get heaps of outdoor exercise, get vaccinated, take all your supplements, however, you may still suffer breathing difficulties and resistance, and your immune system could be “stuffed” to use an Australian term.  Is this  leaving you wide open to this new bug? The new strain (or any strain) of covid? A RESOUNDING “YES” is the answer to that question.

To gain focus in body and clarity of mind, you need to BREATHE PROPERLY.  The nose is the silent warrior, the gatekeeper of your body, pharmacist to your mind and weather vane of your emotions. In a single breath, more molecules will pass through your nose than all the grains of sand on the world’s beaches – trillions and trillions.

The mucus membranes of the nose filter out pollutants and particles.  The invaders as we know cause infections if they get into the lungs.  The mucus is the body’s first line of defence.  It has been likened to a giant conveyor belt (pushed along by hair like structures called cillia), collecting inhaled muck which it moves down into the throat and to the stomach, where it is sterilised by stomach acid, delivered to the intestines and sent out of your body.

We have a second brain, the gut.  What you may not know is we have a second heart.  The diaphragm.  It not only beats to its own rhythm, it also affects the rhythm, rate and strength of the heart beat.  Some people use only about 10% of the capacity of the diaphragm. You can survive on short shallow breaths, and most people do.  This does not mean it is good for you!

CORRECT BREATHING STRENGTHENS THE MIND, THE BODY, AND THE SPIRIT.  IT HAS NEVER BEEN MORE IMPORTANT.

NAMASTE.  JAHNE

FAITH

To have FAITH is to be sure of the things we hope for and to be certain of the things we cannot see (Hebrews 11)  What a record all these have won by their faith! And yet they DID NOT RECEIVE WHAT GOD PROMISED, BECAUSE GOD HAD DECIDED ON AN EVEN BETTER PLAN….

I have decided that in spite of how things may seem I am not going to give up the habit of meeting with you via the newsletter.  I will send one out on Monday and one on Friday – the beginning and the end of the week. (If Covid takes hold again I will increase the newsletter mail out as I did before).   I have a feeling that this letter, even if you don’t respond through the computer,  is a way of encouraging one another (my grateful thanks to those wonderful students who have contacted me)…  For myself, it is by faith that I understand that the universe was created by means of the Word (THE BREATH)… “In the beginning was the word”,   and what can be seen has been made out of what cannot be seen.  So when we meet our personal “Red Sea”, we have faith that the waters will be parted and we will with faith get across.  If we make the right decisions now, no matter how things LOOK, the results will be over and above what we can imagine.

So many of us are in the place of restructuring our lives, I certainly am.  We need patience,  and to keep going in the path that we have been inspired to travel.  I remember when I was at School in the senior years, there were a number of students who were much better at art than I was.  I especially had a cousin or two who were fantastic.  I was so in awe of the talent that they had, and worked so hard to get better, hoping that one day I would be as good as they already were.  Have any of the students or my cousins done anything with their lives from an artistic point of view – in a word “NO”.  Why?  I think it was too easy for them.  They didn’t value the fantastic gift that they had. It was right in front of them and they didn’t see it.  They could have reached the stars, but no, they muddled around on the ground and never took flight.  Never explored the fabulous gift they had been given, never took it as far as they could have.  IS THIS YOU?

What is your gift?  Is it right in front of you? Are you fabulous at teaching, at child rearing, at gardening, at writing?  What is your gift.  Do you have the patience to get better at it and to take it as far as you can? Your patience and hard  work will be rewarded if you have patience and faith. Maybe not right away, maybe not in the way you expected but it will be rewarded.

THE COVID REPORT.

Make sure that you have your Vitamin D, Vitamin C, Zinc supplements up to date.  Nutrition is the main defence you have, and cutting back on the super-stressors in your life.  Make sure you get enough SLEEP.  If your body is strong, if your immune system is strong, there is a much lesser chance of you getting Covid (or anything else for that matter) even if you are not vaccinated or taking any of the suggested drugs.

There is a drug called IVERMECTIN that is now being used in many countries.  (WWW.SMH.COM.AU – a report by Liam Mannix).   Yes, it has a “mediocre” press – Liam Mannix’s report in Australia by The Sydney Morning herald is balanced I think, but when there is the choice of vaccine or Ivormectin, perhaps Ivermectin is a possible alternative  – widely available, low cost IN AMERICA (about $42 in Australia),  and millions of doses have been delivered in many countries.

Randomised control trials are going on at the present time in the USA of 4,000 patients, and to date consistently they are holding up.  The  Doctor who is the initiator of these drug trials is Dr.Korey (WWW.FLCCC.NET).  Go to the paper on that site,   “I-MASK PROTOCOL”,  the review and the summary – I haven’t been able to find an Australian equivalent.  If you are interested, print out this report and take it to your doctor and get his/her opinion.

Explore it, explore the side effects (everything has side effects), and decide if it is for you.  I personally am using Nutrition and Supplementation as my line of defence, but I am pretty healthy with no other issues that I know of, so perhaps the decision is easier for me, however, my sister in the UK has had covid twice, and her husband died of it a couple of weeks ago. I am not blasé about where we are, and where we are going.

SEE YOU ON THE MAT (OR ZOOM)  AS USUAL.

NAMASTE – JAHNE

We would like to emphasize that The Australasian Yoga Institute is not opposed to vaccination, and furthermore supports policies such as mask wearing, social distancing, and hand hygiene to prevent the further spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Our reports are designed to help and support people to mitigate the effects of the pandemic until it is overcome, and to allow for an earlier return to daily life

Dear Yogis,

As I said to the RUMI STUDY GROUP –
I do a lot of thinking in the shower (not good for the water consumption!) and  it occurred to me that so many of you are going  ‘off-piste”, going on holidays and generally getting back into your hectic social lives after covid,  that I may take a creative break and focus on me too, instead of running around trying to interest you in the things of the Spirit.

NOT BECAUSE I NEED A REST (!) but because I need to be working to a group who need me.  Students who come to class and to zoom because the information is important to their lives and their community.  I am not here for entertainment when nothing better is on offer.  I don’t have the time.

If you want me, you will know where to find me, I may be even easier to find.  I will notify you of changes via the newsletter – which will only be helpful if you read it.  From next week, (unless I get a lot of request otherwise) I will only do one newsletter a week…I will limit classes, with lots of notice so don’t worry.   The rest of the time I will concentrate on drawing and writing.  I have commissions, I have projects,  I have another fulfilling life (I don’t just exist on the yoga mat and the screen),  and I do have a community which responds aside from yoga – and I am going to focus on them.   I am very busy, and will get busier.  I am even contemplating a second doctorate.

After 50 years as a handmaiden to my yogis, this is going to be a change for us all.  I don’t know how it will work, I don’t know about tomorrow, anything could happen – I do know I want to live well and happy today.    “Nothing can befall us other than that ordained by Allah – trust in HIM”.  I haven’t met Shams, but I am open to it.

THE BREATH.
Workshop: 20th February. 10am ZOOM.  www.yogabeautiful.com.au for details.

Not one of my artworks, but definitely orb-like.

Everything around us is composed of molecules, which are composed of atoms, which are composed of sub-atomic bits called protons (which have a positive charge), neutrons (which have no charge) and electrons (which have a negative charge).  All matter at its most basic level is energy.

“We cannot separate life from living matter, inevitably studying living matter and its reactions we are studying life itself”. (Szent-Gyorgyi)  What distinguishes inanimate objects like rocks from animate objects like birds, animals, plants is the level of energy or the “excitability” of electrons within the atoms that make up the molecules in matter.

The breakdown of this electron excitability is what causes metal to rust and what turns leaves brown and crinkly and causes them to die.  Human also “rust” – This “rust” is disease  A good example is cancer which thrives in an environment of low oxygen.  We need to flood our bodies with constant levels of oxygen.

Breathing deeply, slow and strong,  LESS,  AND THROUGH THE NOSE, balances the levels of respiratory gases in the body and sends the maximum amount of oxygen to the maximum amount of tissues in order  that our cells have the maximum of electron activity.

The name is different  for different cultures – PRANA, CHI, RUAH, but the principle is the same.  IT IS ALL ABOUT THE BREATH.

For good health and a long productive, THINKING life, we all need to know the lost art and science of breathing.

SEE YOU AT THE WORKSHOP?
TWO HOURS IS BARELY TOUCHING THE SURFACE. IT IS A LIFE’S WORK.

NAMASTE.  JAHNE
