Dear Yogis,

We have been alerting you to the fact that the virus is returning, and we should expect a lock down – and here it is!

It is only for 7 days, could be less, so no need to panic.  We know how to do this, and we can do it over again.  Being less than a domestic goddess, I discovered dust and cleaning that needed doing during the last lockdown, even re-tiled the shower recess.  I am not sure if I will have time to be very enthusiastic this time around… but I don’t mind lock downs.  I think I will frame and photograph some pictures, do some darning that is backing up and change the yoga to zoom.

ZOOM FOR THE NEXT 7 DAYS.
SUNDAY ZOOM at 10am THE BARDO.  “The Tibetan Book of the Dead”.  A guide not just for dying – but also for living.
MONDAY ZOOM 1pm Yoga (Hatha – all welcome)  6.30pm FREE TEACHER TRAINING.  Mary Magdalen
TUESDAY ZOOM 7.30 MARY MAGDALEN
WEDNESDAY ZOOM 5.30 YOGA (Restorative – all welcome)

I can be available for ZOOM Art/Craft class on Saturday Afternoon 2pm if any previous “zoomers” want a class at this time.  If I don’t get requests, I won’t be there.

STUDIO:  REMEMBER AND Book me into your diary for Teacher Training on Sunday the 6th June.  2pm to 4pm
Could be zoom, could be studio.

HERBS:  Attention Ayurvedic Therapists.  I have a tub of precious NIGELLA SATIVA meal – the seeds after the first cold pressing.  I have been using them soaked in oil or honey for skin conditions, but they can be used for much more.   They are mentioned in the Qur’an with great reverence and it is said the only thing they can’t cure is DEATH.  Good to know.  Are you interested? I can share.

THE GOSPEL of MARY MAGDALEN.

  1. …….What is matter?
  2. Will it last forever?
  3. The Teacher answered:
  4. “All that is born, all that is created,
  5. all the elements of nature
  6. are interwoven and united with each other
  7. All that is composed will be decomposed;
  8. everything returns to its roots;
  9. matter returns to its roots of matter.
  10. Those who have ears let them hear”.

“The Gospel of Mary presents Jesus as a teacher, and the teaching he transmits contains the knowledge necessary for the re-integration of human being with themselves, with their Source and the Principle.  This Gospel is one of Divine Knowledge.  It goes deeper than the teaching of laws and rules as we saw in the Old Testament.  In this Gospel, Jesus has something to say to us about the fundamental nature of the world and of humanness.

We began exploring these ideas with the poetry of Rumi and learned of his relationship with Shams I-Tabriz.  Rather like the intellectual relationship between Mary and Jesus, and again Jibril and Muhammed.  In each case, the word was transmitted from God, (from the Divine) to the “Teacher” and then to the “student”  destined to take the message to the world.

Along side this we will be looking at the Tibetan world as expressed in the Bardo.  A reminder of the interdependence and impermanence if all things.  What has a beginning has also an end.  Ignorance of impermanence generates illusions, attachments, and therefore suffering – all the ancient wisdom traditions tell us this.

When we read the Gospel of Mary we will hear the Teacher say over and over, the phrase taken up by Mary when she was the teacher “Those who have ears let them hear”  .  It is an invitation to pay attention – to develop a subtle perception, a special faculty of attention.  The Real, (Reality), is only known by those who take the time to hear, those who can tune in to the silence until the emptiness which is everything speaks.  The Jewish call-to-prayer, The  Shema, recited  in every Synagogue (and some High Anglican Churches)  calls to those who know…… “LISTEN O ISRAEL”

“….if the conscious subject has no ears there will be nothing to hear,
if the eyes are not open there will be nothing to see,
if the heart is not awake, there will be nothing to understand…….” (Yeshua-Jesus)

MEET ME ON THE MAT.

NAMASTE – JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

Here I am able to easily use the internet.  I am free from my Telstra troubles for the present, and have made a wonderful Telstra friend in Gujarat India who responded to my call to Telstra for help,  with the most wonderful service I have had from anyone, anywhere.  We talked yoga a lot whilst she was working on her computer to remedy the situation, and she called back when she said she would every time.  Even this morning called again to make sure all is well. That is service!  She is even working to help me get a yoga book delivery from Gorakhpur!

ZOOM:
MONDAY: FREE TEACHER TRAINING.   Mary Magdalen Study tonite at 6.30pm
TUESDAY: 7.30 tp 9pm “Rumi on LOVE”
SUNDAY: 10am. The BARDO THODOL.

How can I report on such a fabulous week.  It is all about FAITH (which I recently tattoo’d on my hand to keep it top-of-mind).  I could have gone into the week looking at the entries on my diary or the bookings on my to-do-list, and at the beginning of the week it look like slim pickings, but I knew that God had something in mind that needed a clear deck and that is so – and how things panned out.  The week expanded into fantabulousistic.  I just loved it.

When I finished last nite (with a social  visit from a client I had been trying to contact), it was just the icing on the cake.  I will have to learn to keep operating from the vortex, not worrying, but doing what needs to be done.  Just doing what is in front of me with no judgement…watching for opportunities hiding in plain sight.

TRY WORKING THIS WAY.  IT IS SO RELAXING TO LEAVE EVERY LITTLE THING IN GOD’S HANDS.
“NOTHING CAN HAPPEN THAT IS NOT ORDAINED BY GOD (EVEN THIS NEWSLETTER). TRUST THIS”.(Qu’ran)

 Everyone welcome

MONDAY: 6.30 MARY MAGDALEN. A fascinating study about a fascinating woman.  If the Church had not excised her Gospel, and portrayed her as the Minister and Teacher she was, imagine what the role of women in society would have been from then on.  Hugely different I think.  A pivotal woman.  You need to know about her.  I am waiting for someone to write a book about Jesus and Mary in the missing years.  They were both missing.  Were they together?

TUESDAY:  7.30 The Rumi Group.  This week “Love”.

TELSTRA

OK. What has yoga got to do with Telstra?  Lots.  If I don’t have a service I can’t send out the newsletter and I can’t zoom and i can’t email. Would that make a difference (?) sure would.  If you lose your cool with Telstra, you haven’t understood Karma.

THE STORY.  On Wednesday I came down into the office, turned everything on, then went to have breakfast as usual.  When I had finished breakfast and came in to start on the emails the modem wasn’t functioning.  No internet.  So I did all the usual things.  Still no internet.  I spent from 8.30 to 11.30 speaking to a lovely Telstra yogi in India about the problem.

She patiently helped me, and inbetween whilst we were “waiting” we talked about yoga, India, her town and the books I am waiting for from Gorakhpur.  Did I get service? Amazing service.  You can go for all the fancy broadbands, but only Telstra does the cables and only NBN does the NBN.  So, she said I would have to be booked in and the first available appointment for both Telstra and NBN was 8th June!!!  How to get around that.  I asked if I could pay for  a special service call. YES!

Would it make a difference?  Telstra would be there at 12 noon. Wednesday.  The same day! OK at 12 noon the Telstra man was ringing the doorbell.  I was amazed.  He looked at the problem and determined that it was an NBN problem.  Whilst he was here he replaced sockets and did other clever things, but we were back to June 8th for NBN service.

The Telstra person in India made my phone into a hotspot, and organised for a dongle to be posted to me so I could link to my modem.  So,  thanks to the hotspot I was able to email.  I decided to go to Telstra in Gisborne and get a dongle,(as insurance).  I went this morning, and got a great discount, and a fabulous wi-fi modem that is rechargeable from my powerpoint and will be great for multiple computers.

Am I happy with Telstra? Absolutely.  If you live near the Gisborne Telstra Business Centre and you need help, ask for WILL.  He is smart.  Very smart.  Is exiled from the aeronautics industry because of Covid.  Do you want him to look after your problem – yes, because he sees outside the box. Is patient, pleasant, and totally what you would want when you are drowning in tech problems as I was.  He made it easy.

As I said.  No matter how wonderful you might think switching to a broadband rival might me.  Telstra has, and controls all the infrastructure.

If you don’t lose your temper, if you make friends, you will get fabulous service.  If I have it everyone can get it.  Try it.  If you have started on the wrong foot, remember you are yogis..  I have had yogis tell me with pride how they screamed at the Telstra service people, how they lost their cool on line or the phone.  KARMA?

THE BACK STORY:  Before this whole saga.  I was saying to God, “….am I going in the right direction?” and then the internet went down… and I said “What is this? if you want me to keep going, then I am going to need a miracle – two weeks with no internet is like moving to the moon”….and I got a miracle.  So I guess I am going in the right direction.  A timely reminder.  “Nothing happens that is not the will of God – trust this”

If you can just breathe, understand that the people around you, even Telstra,  are doing their best.  If you  give them your best – you will be happy.  It is easy to get angry.  It is easy to “vent”.   Remember the way you manage you day will determine the rest of your life.  See these interactions as part of your yoga journey.

SEE YOU ON THE MAT (OR AT ZOOM)
