Dear Yogis,

Before you start launching yourself into problem discussions about Covid and vaccinations… think on this.

If you want to become an AMBULANCE DIVER (they recently advertised their DiplomaCourse)  with the Ambulance Service in Victoria, there are certain proofs you will need before you can start the course.  One of these proofs relates to vaccination.  To begin, you will need……Proof of vaccinations for COVID-19 (fully vaccinated), current Influenza (within the last 12 months), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Pertussis, Measles/Mumps/Rubella, with serology report (required before commencing observer shifts).  

This is quite a vaccination load, and not unusual (ask any nurse at the beginning of her training, or other health professionals) However, I haven’t seen anyone stomping up and down in front of Ambulance Victoria’s head office demanding to be allowed to train without meeting these vaccination requirements – why? Because everyone knows that they will be dealing with the public, and there is the possibility of contracting quite severe illness if they are not vaccinated.  Even if they are only driving the ambulance.

Applicants know that vaccinations are required.. The applicants are no different to the rest of us.  We are in a difficult covid situation.  It will change, there will be a pill or a serum discovered (as in polio vaccines – in the beginning people died, then the method of culturing vaccination changed, then it was delivered on a piece of blotting paper with no vaccination), but for now in Covid, vaccinations are the best option.  Plus you still need to look after your nutrition, your supplements.. you can’t ignore these.  But think long and hard if you decide not to vaccinate.  There are some people who need exemptions…  but there is no need to make this a two tiered society. Neither a society manipulated by cosmic beings dedicated to the crushing of our civilisation.  I have read such explanations – colourful, imaginative, however I for one do not believe them.  I am far too practical.  We have a problem, and we are human.  We try to solve the problem the best way we can.  As Buddha said – “This too shall pass”.

If you have a family history or are worried, do what I did – have a blood test beforehand to make sure you are as fit as you think you are. Make your decision based on that rather than an imagined position.  Then after your 2nd vax, have another blood test so that you can compare the two.  Mine came back almost the same.  I even had a brain scan because of clotting in the family – all good.  There is all this technology available for you – take advantage of it, don’t just decide from a position of not knowing.  It is great to have the all clear.  I am ready for the next 30 years…are you?

TINY TATTOOS.

Now we are coming out of Covid I can once again look at inviting you back into my studio.  All the covid requirements apply.  I specialise in STICK AND POKE TATTOOS.  Quiet, friendly, heal quicker, small, beautiful.   I am even thinking of an open day so you can come see what I do.  This will be closer to Christmas.  Once again, all the Covid requirements apply.

Despite fears, uncertainties, and many barriers to entry, pursuing tattooing,  and being able to provide a safe and inclusive environment for my clients has been one of my greatest accomplishments. I feel grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this ancient and historically rich tradition and practice, and I look forward continue to better myself and my artistic output with every tattoo that I make

I don’t do other peoples designs, I am not interested in an apprentice, I don’t repeat things I have done in the past, and I don’t have a wait list.  I am an artist – I hate repeating anything except yoga asanas.  Contact me if you would like one of my TINY designs on your body and I will give you an appointment.

YOUR STUDIO DIARY DATE:  MANDALA CLASS Saturday 27th November (bring your basal charts for interpretation too) This is the last studio art class before Christmas, so bring some Christmas nibbles to share.  Start at 1pm finish about 4pm – could be later ($55 per person)…. materials provided.  You will have a beautiful A4 Mandala to take home and frame.  You may also bring your tarot cards, these could be used with your chart.  It might make a very good tarot/pendulum board. Please let me know if you are coming.

Dear Yogis,

The “temporary imprisonment” no matter how mild has ended for the time being.  I was not looking forward to visiting Woodend this weekend, especially as it was a holiday, but thankfully it was not a popular tourist destination this time around – or at least when I was there.  I got a car park easily, didn’t have to stand in line anywhere I went, and remarkably I noticed that there wasn’t even a line outside the ice-cream shop.

HERB CASTING…..

As you know I have been gathering herbs (although it is later than “May”).  Once you have the herbs and florals you can make many things, you can also cast spells.  

When we do this, we are simply endeavouring to influence the future.  The spell creates an energy form, and as we yogis know – energy in any form EXISTS.  This “spell casting” is extremely useful when we want to influence the atmosphere of a place where you are going to be, or to avoid casting your fears about what is to come into the the future.

Creating energy and sending it in the future is something we all do unconsciously.  Spell-casting is taking this intention and making it conscious.  Even if you believe that your single-mindedness will see you through to your goal, I wonder if you could consider another way.  Perhaps you could even choose a bigger goal.  Then use herbs, colours, candles (whatever) to bring it front of mind, allowing it to manifest in a way that is much bigger…..

I am putting together a magical box of herbs and goodies designed to help you work with the power of tea herbs for manifestation! This lovely box of herbs with comes with instructions so you will be able to weave a spell or two when you are so inclined.   Spells to Release procrastination, Increase possibilities, Increase personal power, Releasing or softening fear… and so on.  Of course your pendulum will help you choose and understand the path you have carved for yourself.

Remember… POWER IS NOT STUFF.  Real Power is personal creativity and the ability to enjoy it (think “Purushatras”).  Real power is doing what you have been called to do and living prosperously with it.  Power is not about being able to influence others, it is the ability to influence your own life in a positive way.. when you can do this, others in turn, will be drawn to your power and influenced by it, within their free-will and yours.

You can control how power flows from you, and how open you are to its source.

Powerful people are complete within themselves.  They don’t fear much and are certainly not motivated by it.

(The Witch Is In)

Dear Yogis,

It was so tempting to either stay in bed, or garden, but that is not the way of yoga – I have said I will send a newsletter on Mondays, so I am here – whistling into the wind I may be, but I am here.  It is a promise.  And now lock-down is finished for the time being, I hope you will join me in the studio for yoga.  If you have not been for a while, please book.

THE GARDEN AND FORAGING AND PREPPING,

Don’t be led into a false sense of security.  The sun is shining, we have Cup Day Holiday, but it is not forever.  Life goes on.  There will be more lockdowns –  even Qantas can’t stop that, no matter how many trips Mr.Joyce the CEO is able to take to cuddle his mum in Ireland via the USA.. See the “60 Minutes Special” last nite. Interesting.  

There will be thunderstorms, there will be BIG hail, there will be high winds and power outages, there will be higher prices.  How are you preparing?  By pretending that everything has gone back to what you would like to think of as normal? It is easier to do that, and you are lucky if you can manage the higher prices of essential like electricity, groceries, the brown-outs, Telstra (who recently hiked up prices) and the terrible delays perpetrated by Australia Post (Australia-Maybe-We-Will-Post).  I am waiting for KOGAN POST” – they get things to us quickly.

It is time to prepare by getting a dehydrator, by investing in a solar lantern, a rainwater tank, a camp stove (and/or wood heater) learning to forage and grow,  and make do and mend.  I have always done things like this, they are in my memory and genes, and I am urging you to take time to think about it.  I actually have bought myself a rotating mulch tank so I can use the weeds and left overs from the kitchen instead of giving them to the council.   There is so much to do whilst we have time to do it.

Forget about sending cards and letters.  If today is any indication they won’t get to your loved ones by Christmas.  In spite of the fact I don’t like E-Cards, they are really the only alternative when a letter takes 5 weeks to get from Woodend to Daylesford. Google “Jacqui Lawson” and think about E-Cards.

Yes, next year will be the “roaring twenties” we are told – Qantas is leading the way with potentially more planes in the air than after WWII.  It is easy to believe that,  seeing the wildness at the moment from people who have been locked-down now able to go everywhere.  They have mostly learned nothing – HAVE YOU?  Q-Codes, vaccinations  and masks will be with us all for a long time, and we should respect that.  At the same time we should notice the changes, and get back to basics.  These are not hardships, they are ways you can take back control of your life.

AND…….get back to yoga.  Don’t just fit it in when you have time.  

Make Yoga the essential, and fit other things around it.
