Dear Yogis,

Eckart Tolle once famously said, “Stress is caused by being ‘here’ but wanting to be ‘there.'” and as Hans Selye (and many others) said, “”It’s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it”.”

Stress is definitely a multi-layered challenge for everyone. Specifically, how we process stress, react to stress, and anticipate stress plays a direct role in how we feel each and every day – our personal WELLNESS.  Nothing is more important to acknowledge during this time of Covid.  Even if we are managing “well”, managing our own health, the stress of everyone around us even those at the supermarket, and those in our community who are feeling stress, can effect us to come degree.

There is a level of stress in the air, I am sure you have felt it.  That is why yoga, Bach Therapies, the “Ion Cleanse”, and any of the therapies that we practise to relieve stress, are particularly valuable at this time.  I am noticing clients whose muscles are tensing up, freezing from continued tension.  You will not be able to relieve this tension by forcing anything – but by “asking” the muscles to relax. Giving them kind (non-verbal) encouragement, space and time.  It is the only way.

SPEAKING OF STRESS

A SPECIAL CALL-OUT TO “STUDY BUDDIES” OF JAALA.

Her home is (or was) in Bridgetown WA, which over this weekend has been in the line of the latest WA Wild Fires.   all communication in the town is suspended, so if you do try to contact it may be difficult especially as friends and relatives will be trying to reach out.  I have emailed and messaged her…. jaalashane@iinet.net.au    and she replied this Sunday afternoon, it hadn’t yet started raining, and they still have their house, but as you know everything can change with a wind change.

Right now there is nothing much that we can do except pray for her, put her on our meditation or prayer chains.   It was supposed to rain late Sunday, which would have helped.  It looked very frightening from the news crews on site.  She was talking about moving house, but I don’t think that this was what she had in mind.  It is (as I know from personal experience) when seen positively, an opportunity for great change.

These opportunities for growth (massive growth), is what we train for, the reason we learn the Gita (remember your class this evening, Monday at 6.30) I am sure she will cope remarkably well at the front of the “battle”, but she will need our help in the weeks ahead, even if her house has been saved.  Fire is a formidable enemy and dealing with it comes as a devastating psychic shock, most felt after the fire-front has passed.  Luckily, to this point,  her house has been saved – I am sure that this is so she can support her community.  She is a true yogi who knows she is here to serve, and with a house when many have lost theirs there are more opportunities to share.  The really hard time energetically comes after the fire as we deal with the psychic fallout, and day to day support of people in crisis.

Please keep her in your prayers.  Thank you for those who have contacted me (and who have reached out to Jaala).

SCHEDULE FOR THE COMING WEEK.
ZOOM: According to zoom, this is the 5th week (end of the month – we started on the 10th Jan) for most of you – please check your diary. If this is your first session for the next “month”, please pay on the home page www.yogabeautiful.com.au and click on Pay via PayPal.

When we deal with crises as above we understand the reasons we were given The ‘Gita – Life is a battlefield.  God knows how the battle has played out – it is about how we deal with the situation this time that is important.

Monday 6.30 (Gita – not recorded).  Tuesday 7.30. Herbalist Workshop.  Because the herbs do not rely on conversations between us, (conversation enhances any experience) I am going to learn how to more effectively RECORD the Herbal Workshop, then you can access it whenever you want to once you are a member of the group.  FRIDAY 6.45 TAROT (Recording not possible for this)

STUDIO YOGA: Monday 1pm, Wednesday and Friday 5.30.

RECLAIM LOVE – “Eat like you love yourself. Move like you love yourself. Speak like you love yourself. Act like you love yourself. Love Yourself” – Fall Deeply in Love… WITH YOURSELF … LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOURSELF.

SEE YOU ON THE MAT.

NAMASTE.  JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

The end of the week already.  I have spent a lot of useless time this week complying with government health requests.  First off, I got a letter “inviting” me (because of my age) to have a health assessment.  Knowing what “health assessment” usually means,  I left about half an hour to complete it – TWO HOURS later I called a halt, with still tests left undone.  Too hard, too long.  Good to know that everything looks fantastic. I will complete it over the next week or so, minus about 4 different vaccinations I am not having – measles, shingles, pneumonia, flu, and herpes (and sexually transmitted disease vaccination!).  Minus the tests I will not be having. Colonoscopy, Mammogram (which subject women to the same radiation as 21 X-rays), and a PAP smear which I am pretty sure requires a cervix.  My ECG is fabulous both standing and resting, I will do an osteoporosis test, and about then I think we will be done.

Then I had a Moderna Vaccination, my booster.  I thought I would be laid out, but apart from tiredness there has been no other side effects to date.  Mind you I have been putting Turkey Tail mushroom into everything I can since the vaccination.  I think it made all the difference. I have been mega dosing magnesium vitamins C, Vic D3, Folate, Fish Oil, ginseng.  All the usual.  No wonder I feel great.

The next win was my eye examination.  The Health Assessment Doc made it pretty clear that 3 to 4 years between eye examinations were too long “at my age!” (he was about “12”).  So I had one today.  No change from last time.  Who has that!  What a great result, what a great saving too.

If you want results like my results, then you have to live like I live.  I am not a monk on a mountain, I work,  and I work hard, plus I do my own gardening, clean my own house, and do my own cooking, ride at least 100km per week on my little under the desk pedalled – and I look after you with newsletters, classes and zooms.  The secret is the mushrooms, the vitamins, and the diet.  If you want to know if you really want to know), come to the herbal workshop – I speak about it there.

HERBAL WORKSHOP:  Tuesday 7.30.  This week I made Artichoke Bitters, Nocello (Walnut Liqueur), and decanted the Pine and Citrus Vodka.  I am waiting for the Blackberry/Citrus vodka to mature.  The method and ingredients for all of these could have been found at our Tuesday herbalists Workshop.  Plan to be with us next Tuesday at 7.30.

The weather could be changing, certainly the Bach flowers are no more.  We are preparing our journal with pages devoted to where to find Bach plants, and what time of the year they flower.  This is the only way you are going to be able to have a complete set of Bach Flower Remedies that you have collected yourself.

I remember reading about IanWhite’s collecting expeditions – he noted his dreams, his mediations, his inspirations around each flower.  Baby steps students.  Just start making index cards on each.

STUDIO ZOOM SCHEDULE
Zoom: Friday 6.45 Tarot.  Monday 6.30 Gita, Tuesday 7.30 herbal Workshop
Studio: Friday 5.30.  Monday 1pm, Wednesday and Friday 5.30 (please email me to book for all yoga classes)

I will see you on the mat

Namaste. JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

What a time we are living in.  The weather is all over the place, so don’t expect you won’t be, plus physically we are being challenged, not just by the weather, and the feeling of insecurity, but by covid, covid vaccinations and the downside of that.  It is all about challenge.  You can pretend it is not there, you can go to the doc and be tranquillised, or you can be pro-active and look around and see what nature is providing for you.  I think the last option is the best, and that is why we have moved into THE YOGA OF HERBS,

During lockdowns you were joining us on zoom, learning new things, trying new things because the reality was right up at you and clawing at the windows.  But now, with the pressure seemingly off, you have relaxed, and now, maybe you have not  just moved away from yoga, but also from learning new things (old ways) that could help yourself and your family going forward.

I am still here, I am still teaching, and those students who are ready to learn, are joining us.  Sitting in front of the telly might be easier – but it won’t help you when the supermarket shelves are empty.  I think you know that.  Nature is providing, even really good things… How to make bitters (digestives) out of those old artichoke leaves, how to make Novello out of green walnuts, how to make seed crackers out of plantain.  That was what we spoke of last night in your absence.

I am now thinking how I can make what used to be called a “still room”.  A place that is darker and colder so that I can store all the lovely things I am making.  Instead of being crammed on shelves, they will go into my storehouse (still room) for the “winter”, and times of shortage.  My mum had a cold place under the floor boards in the hall where apples, root vegetable, preserved eggs and suchlike were stored.  I can’t do that, but I will solve it.  I will find a space.  What about you?  Put your head outside, smell the air – things are changing, can you?

I have a huge pile of yoga magazines that I was not quite sure what to do with.  I think I am going to paper the walls in the toilet with them..  Angel would do this.  I will have lots left I think, would you like some?
