Here’s a hard truth Yogis,

You can always make excuses to stop doing the thing that you love to do!
Excuses Like…

The biggie “I DON’T HAVE TIME”.
or “It’s too overwhelming to figure everything out.” (I know this one very well).
or “Life is just too chaotic, especially right now with everything that is going on. I do it later. ”

Lets be honest, it will never be the right time or the “good” time  to focus on your dreams.  There will always be something that can deflect you from your course if you let it (especially money)
I am sure that you have thought about this –  maybe, if you are not awake and aware today, you could wake up 5 years from now and still be in the same place.

But there’s an alternative.  From moment to moment you have a choice to make things happen for yourself.

I know all about it.  Right now I have three exhibitions BACK TO BACK.  I say it just happened, but nothing “Just happens”.  At some level I have organised it.  I don’t have time to think about it, but I do have to be disciplined to get the work done.

1.  I have the ART EXHIBITION (Tarot and Tarot Miniatures featured) on the 10th June at The Mt.Macedon Gallery (hope you have it in your diary!).
2. Then I have the WEARABLE ART EXHIBITION at the Jubilee Hall in Macedon (Next to Mt.Players) on the 15th July 1pm to 4pm – you need tickets to this. Fabulous re-purposed fashion, day, evening, denim, tattoos and bikie boots.
Then 3. in August I have a presentation and exhibition at The Theosophical Society in Flinders Street, Melbourne.

PLUS I have a tartan shirt to make, a long dress to re-purpose, a pair of pants to make, and a fabulous evening “punk”  corset to mend.  I think that is the lot today! Today (Sunday I am framing for the exhibition so I can concentrate on sewing.

Commissions taken for all of my work – Paintings, and Fashion.  But best of all – plan to come to one or two of the exhibitions.

NAMASTE – JAHNE

Hi there Yogis.

Not much to report.  I am busy painting for the exhibitions and sewing both commission pieces and things for the Wearable Art Exhibition in July.  I was asked yesterday to put stuff on insta, but I am not ready yet.  Everything is “Almost photographable”.  I will put a couple of “almost there” images up today when i am near the phone…  The shorts to the left are on the way – Inspired by Desigual and the Paris “UP-CYCLED FASHION” runway.

YOGA – The classes Mondays, Wednesdays and Sunday at 4.30.  The rest of the time I am teaching yoga at Windarring, Sewing or Painting.

Don’t forget to diarise the YOGA LUNCHEON at 1pm on Saturday the 27th May.  I will let you know the details as we go along.  Could be LONE WOLF SALOON or it could be THE VIC near the open fire (sounds good!)

REGISTRATIONS – If you want us to stay here for you, please register or re-register if yours has run out.  I have every intention of being here for the long haul, but I am sure IYTA did too, and now they have closed their doors.  The expenses of running an Institute are increasing, and if you don’t register and support us with “bums on seats” and registrations, then we too will be forced to take undesired action.  I know you are busy – keep in mind, I am too.

Dandelion Tea Recipe

This is truly the most simple dandelion recipe to make, and it starts off with collecting dandelion flowers – the green parts must look like the picture on the left.  .  They are everywhere even though the weather is cold.  Make sure you have got the REAL Dandelions as shown and not the rough old native ones which are OK for making beer, but no so good for tea.

Below is the best way to make dandelion tea.

Dandelion flower tea is a natural diuretic, and you can drink it at any time of the day – but don’t overdo it.  It tastes slightly bitter if you include the green parts,  but you can always make sure your pick does not include the green bits, unless you like it to taste a bit bitter.  . It’s not overwhelmingly bitter though, it has a faint grassy sweetness that I really enjoy. The flavor is similar to but more fresh and not as strong as the dandelion root tea (I make the roots into tincture).

This tea is so easy to make.  Once you have enough dandelion flowers foraged and rinsed briefly if desired, add a handful to a mug and pour boiling water over it. Let it steep for about 5-10 minutes and then it is ready to drink! You can strain the flowers out or not – your choice.

¼ cup fresh dandelion flowers or more

  • 1-2 cups boiling water
  • to sweeten, use sugar, honey, maple syrup – optional

Instructions

  • Quickly rinse dandelion flowers, if desired, and add them to your favorite mug.
  • Pour boiling water over the top of the dandelion flowers to fill the mug.
  • Let the tea steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain the flowers if desired, although it’s not necessary.

NAMASTE – JAHNE

Dear Yogis,

Thank you to those who care enough to Register with us – this enables us to keep our door open.  I know we are not the cheapest, however if you have trained with us then we are your lineage.  To keep me here, to keep our doors open, please keep up with your registrations – otherwise we will die in the same way IYTA seems to have done – they were cheaper but now they have had to close.

Even if you have NOT finished your course but have been teaching and want to register with me, don’t wait – please apply for registration under the “GRANDFATHERING” part of our application.  My students can get STUDENT REGISTRATION and STUDENT INSURANCE and don’t have to wait until they have graduated.  I have rarely turned anyone away.  If you have friends who are registered elsewhere, (with studios who are closing their doors, or making yoga into a “Doctoral Program” they don’t want to do) or teaching unregistered, please contact me.  yogafirst2@bigpond.com

To make it super easy I have put the REGISTRATION APPLICATION NOW ON ETSY.   Not quite sure how to do this responsibly, but I have done my best.  Trying in three steps….1. pay a deposit and 2. receive the application email, 3. complete the application, pay the balance on pay pal and be registered.  OR, email me and i will send you a registration application.

A notice to those who have been teaching for a long time without registering, and without finishing their course, keep in mind that you are logging up some serious karma.  First it is stealing, not being honest, not living up to agreements and so on….  plus if you don’t finish things, those people around you will think it is OK not to finish things.  I remember when I was doing theology, got to the end and didn’t take that extra step, my son said “Why are the rules different for you?  We have to finish things but you don’t?”  So I tied up all the loose ends.  It was such a good lesson.  What you do,  your students (children) will follow.

DISABILITY YOGA

I have finished the part one of the book and a person of authority and expertise has read it, and given a tick (I would have liked Julia Gillard to do a foreword, but not a chance).  I have yet to finish and submit Part 2.  When complete I will put it on Etsy so you can all download it, and if it appeals to you,  maybe do the short course which is one of the few things which will help you work in this area of yoga – it is most rewarding and FUN.

STUDIO AND ON-LINE CLASSES

Our new RESTORATIVE yoga class started Sundays at 4.30.  Because I only teach a maximum of 5 students at a time, you may not be able to swap and change every time, but it does mean that if you can’t come on Wednesdays, you can replace it with a Sunday Class.  If you want to secure your place please email me or go to www.yogabeautiful.com.au for details.
