Dear Yogis,

I think I am winning on the power front – My electricity bill is $24!!!!  not $240, just $24.  The solar panels are working for me.  Battery next.

Today I am working in the garden in between doing a self-portrait for the exhibition at the Gallery.  I decided to make a patchwork of 12 coffee bags (a lot of prep required), and painting on that.  The background will be made from prints of my angel paintings.  I would like lots of time – and as usual don’t have it.

Thank you everyone who has visited my in house gallery – I am going to have an open studio every Friday evening starting at the end of this term (to include the holidays) because I just love it when you come here.  You look at the work, you understand what I am trying to say, and sometimes you buy my work – I love you.  Going out into the general public and being asked “how long did it take you to do this” as if it mattered,  is a nonsense,  and strains the patience.  Sid Nolan (who painted the famous Ned Kelly series) took 4 minutes to do some of the work that now sells for millions.

I have had the wasps removed again – every time the price goes up, but what can one do.  I want them removed by a firm with insurance, especially seeing they had to trample over the roof tiles.  I am exploring the possibility of insurance to cover the remediation as there is some damage on the ceiling from the wasp nest.  I will let you know if it is possible.  I am with a firm of insurance brokers called Insurance House in Bendigo, and I have been for about 15 years and my mentor the late Keith Allen referred me… I don’t know how long he was with them, but he was a millionaire, and a perfectionist.  Insurance House are always on the look out for the best insurances at the best prices.  If you are dissatisfied with your insurance go to them, ask for Mel Nicholson. www.insurancehouse.com

I was hacked on Tuesday evening, hence no newsletter on Wednesday.  Thank goodness it has been corralled (until the next time).  I don’t know how I would manage without my Techie! that’s being too simple, he is an expert, a computer engineer, not just “someone who knows”.

By the way – there are going to be some big changes on the yoga home front at the end of this term.  Watch this space.

Dear Yogis,

The other day when I was in the news agency I lamented the demise of the yoga magazine.  Web editions are not the same…  We used to be able to get three magazines – YOGA INTERNATIONAL published by the Himalayan Society ( a great blend of philosophy and asana), YOGA JOURNAL which was American, and YOGA LIFE published by Colin Clements in Queensland.  Now, nothing.  You can get them all on-line.  Do I do that. NO.  Hardly anyone reads this newsletter, and I wonder how many read the yoga magazines unless they are looking for a mat or a class?  How many want the fabulous articles, the learned editorials, the interviews with the “greats” of yoga often by yogis equally as fabulous – obviously hardly anyone.

Why the doll photo?  I have started making dolls again, but not these small character dolls, but fabulous “Daniel Lismore” dolls.  Have a look on google.  He dresses like I used to dress my dolls – magnificently.  His motto is “Always be yourself, everyone else is taken”.   Some of you may have seen him on The Portrait Artist of the Year on Foxtel. He was a sitter and so exotic and resplendent in all the sparkles that everyone else just looked drab – he would have been a dream to paint.

The other day a client came into the gallery and reminded me of the big “doll sculptures” I used to make and ordered one,   so I have at least to do one.  Last nite I cut the pattern (yes, you need a pattern), today I will search out fabric, and haby, and then I can move forward.  The face comes somewhere at the end and becomes a logical step.  Sometimes I start with the face, but not often.

I could keep painting the Tarot on Tea-bags but how many can you do at a stretch and not get bored? I need a rest from them, and I am going to do a portrait of myself on tea bags for the Portrait Artist Competition at the Mt.Macedon Gallery – but I am not going to do a dull boring usual portrait – I will do something different.

Dear Yogis,

We have sneaked past “the worst day in Victoria’s history” firewise.  The weather is cool and lovely, perfect for gardening and drawing, hence the drawing to the left which is the back of my new Lenormand tarot deck.  I am calling it RED REVELATION as it will be printed in red.  I will have a launch here at the studio when it is ready.  There are 36 cards and an instruction book, but it is Lenormand, so you won’t always have to refer to the instructions.  It is all about what you see, rather than having to call on Guides and Gods.

In the garden I am swamped with plums.  If you are local and would like to pick some, come see me.  Please let me know you will be coming!  Text me on 0402088170. I have made gorgeous Chinese Plum Sauce and jam, and a second lot is bubbling away – I also have honey.

RE THE FOOD WE EAT.  As you know my son is in Canada, and I get a few emails from there – recently about the cost of living.. I thought you may be interested..”The Finance Minister of Canada, Chrystia Freeland, yesterday recommended that struggling Canadians eat “Cereal for Dinner”.  She’s one of many corporate voices that are telling struggling people, Worldwide, to change their dietary preferences in order to pay for home heating, rent, rising mortgage rates, and taxes. Maybe you’ve seen the “Cereal for Dinner” campaigns by Big Food companies who are seeing their profits rise, while, we, peasants are struggling to make ends meet.

Those families that are dependent on the matrix, will get more unhealthy advice from corporations and governments over the coming months.  Cereal is not a health food.  Boxed cereal, has cold and damp energetics (herbalist words) that slow down metabolism, reduce digestive fire, increase indigestion, inflammation, and reduce immune function.  Boxed cereals are also high in carbohydrates and promote insulin resistance.

Thankfully, families that have already left the matrix and embraced the self sufficient life style, haven’t bought a box of cereal in years.  A box of Kellog’s cornflakes, costs more by weight, than a pound of ground beef (US prices).  In Canada they are about the same pound for pound.  But the ground beef is warming, energetically speaking and will boost metabolic rate, immunity, and circulation — very important in winter”  …….OR YOU COULD GROW VEGETABLES AND FORAGE LIKE ME, AND MANY OF US AT THIS TIME.  (Jahne)
