Dear Yogis,

The sun is out, and my front garden is covered with a cloud of white petals.  It looks like it has been snowing, hopefully that is a joy we can have next winter.  Yesterday my sister emailed me from England – she said it was winter – cold, dark and damp.  I had to say to her it was summer here – also cold, dark and damp.

Next week is our last week in the studio before Christmas.  I am keeping in mind it is only 30 or so days until Christmas is well behind us and we can get back to what we might now call “normal”.  Although everyone is noticing that prices are going up, and we are having to pull in our belts, I have never had such a “social” time over christmas.  I could go out almost every night.  Maybe everyone is drowning their sorrows.

I was asked to organise ANOTHER end of year lunch at The Vic.  I thought you would be too busy, but no, great enthusiasm.  The hard part as usual was organising a date and time.  We have all come together on Monday the 19th at 1pm which would normally be a yoga class time.  I thought you might be in a Monday Routine and could get together, and I was right for once.

BEARS HAVE FOUND A GOOD HOME
You will be pleased to learn that although no-one locally was interested in “Christmas Tree Bears” to give away, THE NSW FLOOD RESCUE TEAMS were overjoyed, and I will be bear free by the end of next week.  It was a perfect result.

YOGA FOR THE DISABLED –

My main project for the new year (academically) is to get my CertIV in Disability.  This week I did the dreaded NDIS training.  It was all on line.  THREE  hours of a training course with small tests after each module.  Pleasant graphics, gorgeous videos, and sensible questions.  Not too bad.  Then, the horrible NDIS ID Screening.  Horrible.  I got through it and was about to take a breath thinking the photo at the end would be simple.  TWENTY or so goes later I finally got an image that the computer recognised.  After each 5 goes the WHOLE ID quit and I had to re-enter.  At least I now know who I am!!!  I had a stiff drink at the end and feel so pleased that I finished it.  It was also great to know that it takes some people much longer, and then for some it takes 3 month+ to get the ID actioned.  For me it took less than 24hours.  I am now a “REAL” NDIS person, and hopefully can help even more people be introduced to yoga.

I can’t wait to get all this out of the way so that i begin an add-on TEACHER TRAINING COURSE IN DISABILITY.  You will love it!  Once I have got myself organised you will be able to sail through on my coat tails so to speak.  Please let me know if you are interested.  Once you are trained you will be in BIG demand and can contract yourself out to Disability Centres, teach one-on-one and take classes in studios specifically for the disabled……  It is exhausting work but heaps of fun.

Dear Yogis,

What an interesting week and weekend, so full of learnings for me, and has set the tone for the rest of the holiday period.  I have been given a number of commissions which I will focus on, and enough fabulous fabric to contemplate making denim bags and GORGEOUS gardeners aprons.  Then there is the CertIV of course I am working on.   So if you want to find me, home is where I will be.  Like you there is enough gardening (and dusting indoors) for three lifetimes, but the garden will always be there… it is about priorities.

I remember my teacher Margrit and my dear friend (and teacher) Annie.  Neither of them ever said they were too busy for a visit and I never said it to them.  I knew they would not always be there and every minute was precious. What is important? It is not the weeding, or the dusting, or mowing the lawn – it is people.  Read Winnie the Pooh – I am surrounded by Bears and Winnie comes to mind.

I have over the years tried to educate my group on the importance of the Sangha, the yoga community, and sad to say I think I have not succeeded at all in this. If only five will come to a zoom class, even if it is free, then I don’t know why I should imagine they will come to the studio.

Times have changed.  I am so pleased to have experienced the Sangha of the past, and I thank all the students who month after month came to the studio to complete their trainings.  I have such good memories of our times here together.  For today, I will change, focus, and grow – the Disability Community wants and needs me and that is where my focus will be – it is time.

So this mornings message is this –  get the studio teachings and classes whilst you can.

Dear Yogis,

Thank you to those who came to the lunch yesterday.  It was most enjoyable even though we were all “on the run” so to speak (it is pre-christmas and everyone is busy).  It was the last for the year and we won’t be having another until the end of January.

Don’t forget that I have an OPEN STUDIO “BEAR DAY” on THIS Sunday from 2.30 to 4.30.  I have lots and lots of bears AND DOLLS I HAVE MADE.  Every bear sold makes it easier for me to buy, renovate and donate more bears, so please come along.  Christmas is coming and my bears are beautiful.  Everyone needs a bear, especially adults who have never had one.  I never did, and that is probably why I surround myself with them at this time of my life.

This Sunday after 2.30 sometime to coincide with the open studio,  there will be a small garden walk to look at the herbs that are growing here.  If you want to join in, bring suitable shoes! It’s muddy.

STUDIO YOGA CLASS TIMES (yogabeautiful.com.au)
CHRISTMAS YOGA.  Closing the week of the 12th December to 9th January.  The weeks between 9th Jan to the beginning of first term.  $50.  You won’t be able to come to each class because of family things, so $50 for that period.

The FIRST TERM FOR 2023 Starts on the  31st Jan (according to my reckoning) to 8th April $220 for that term.  You can pay $270 for the LONG TERM  –  January to April if that suits you better.

Monday –  1pm class,  2.15 class as usual. ZOOM FREE BACH FLOWERS STUDY 6.30pm

MONTHLY YOGA LUNCH.   – 12 noon our YOGA LUNCH at the Victoria Hotel in Woodend.  NEXT – The last Thursday (or Friday) in January.

WEEKEND ART CLASS (CHANGE TO SATURDAY, NOT SUNDAY…).  2.30 TO 4.30 ($85 for the four or $25 each).  Starting up again in the new year.

HERBAL DISCOVERY CLASS I will be holding these because the herbs are flourishing and fabulous and I want you all to know them, and know how to use them.  You can add to food, make your own pharmacy, and save money – who doesn’t want this?  Please respond.   No group call out.  I need you to respond if you are interested – if not, I will spend the time in the garden myself, just me and the garden spirits (and the bears).

This Sunday after 2.30 sometime,  there will be a small garden walk to look at the herbs that are growing here.  If you want to join in, bring suitable shoes! It’s muddy.

See you at the Studio.
