Dear Yogis

Some NEWS this (cold) morning.

I have been asked to conduct a course in BACH FLOWER (HERBAL) THERAPIES in the new term, and have agreed seeing that it seems I already have a small class assembled.  You will remember that we did such a course during Covid.  It will only take 10 weeks, and you will have an herbal qualification at the end.  You will have to do some home study, and hopefully, wander round your garden and community for flowers, and turn up for zoom classes.  I would like it if some could join me in my garden even if only once or twice,  so I could introduce you to the more unusual plants.

THE YOGA FOR DISABILITY COURSE will go ahead with a very small but enthusiastic cohort.  This is a very complex course, and if you really want to teach it, you will have to cross the “i’s” and dot the “t’s” as they say – there are NO shortcuts.  Unless of course you do it with the idea of just boosting your knowledge, rather that specialising, in which case i will just guide you through the course, you will not require the NIS or other red tape, and no exam at the end.

SO, YOU CAN APPLY FOR A LEVEL 1 (special interest short course),or  LEVEL2 (Professional) course.  Email me to register your interest in either. yogafirst2@bigpond.com

Dear Yogis,

Well, we missed you at our yoga luncheon.  This month we all went to “600 ABOVE” in High Street Woodend.  (My artwork nods at their logo).

The new owners bought “our”(the town’s) only  fruit shop, and opened the wine bar.  I remember years ago when the front shop was home to the town’s barber (he used to travel a couple of times a year in his caravan with his wife,  and open shop wherever he camped – this paid for the trip). After he retired Leanne started Bella hairdressing in the “pressed Tin” room, she then built the building Bella is housed in and the Les the green grocer took over the original shop.  Quite a history.  I am not sure who cut down the beautiful elderberry tree in the front yard, I suspect it was the new owner – I could be wrong.

There are still issues in the new use for the building.  Remembering it is summer, their open fridges are pushing freezing air into the shop and our diners complained.  We asked for the back room because I had heard from others that this was an issue – but those with their backs to the room needed mink coats to combat the cold.  I imagine in the winter it is going to be a real drawback.

The wines were great and a good price.  Food-wise the snack platters were terrific, but their dessert platter wasn’t.  It had marshmallows, chocolate biscuits, pretzels and popcorn with chocolate topping in a dish!  Not exactly luxurious….. when you dine out the desserts are a reward. We made do with oysters at $3 each! Lovely.

In April (the last Saturday) I am going to try for the back room at the Victoria Hotel.  The girls are not keen to face the cold at the Wine Bar again, maybe later in when the issues are addressed.  Let me know if you want to join us.

This week I sold the denim bag to the left.  I take old denim jeans and line them with vintage fabric, including all the little pockets I find so essential. I love pockets.  So many manufacturers neglect them.   I am working on the next bag which I think I will include in my next studio exhibition, and another to replace the sold bag at the Mt.Macedon Gallery.

Getting the handles to look different and better than just a couple of old straps is always a challenge.   Average price $125 to $175 which in no way reflects the time it takes to make them.  If you want one reserved for you (and the size), let me know.  They usually sell as soon as they are made. (They are built to last).

Dear Yogis.,

A reminder that the Yoga Luncheon is on This Saturday at 12 noon at “600ABOVE” in Woodend.  A new Wine Bar just a few doors from the Newsagency.

Also, My iMessages are having a translation problem with Apple, and so, if you are Mac based don’t send messages, send emails (which are fine).  I will let you know when the issue is resolved – Apple are working on it.  If you send an email at yogafirst2@bigpond.com  and have to wait too long for a reply, try….yogafirst@netcon.net.au or yogafirst@optusnet.com.  I am pretty sure my emails are just fine, but at the moment, because I have a Mac computer, I just don’t trust anything.  Bring back pen and ink!
