It can take courage to start anything new, even our YOGA course. It means you have to change your routine, your family’s routine, maybe put some other plans on hold, divert funds, and all that is before you start. Once you start you have to face the many fears we all face, especially when starting a course of study. Fears about being good enough, old enough, young enough, clever enough. Being able to stay the course, being able to juggle everything. Being too far away from a teacher, or too far away from a computer. All very valid, but don’t let them stop you moving forward. I marvel at the wonderful inventiveness and “stickability” of our students. They inspire me every day.

My students are the reason I swing out of bed in the morning and pounce into the day. They fill my mind every minute, and I love them (you) all. If I couldn’t teach I am not sure what I would do – there are heaps of options of course, things I could do, but right now I just feel so blessed that I have you all out there, wherever you are, however you are learning. Sometimes you know it takes courage to teach. But I love it, I love you..

Love (the verb) is like a match. In the beginning it flares and is exciting, and then it burns down, steady for a while, but burning less bright. Eventually it flickers, and that is when you have a choice, you can let it go out, use it to light a fire, or you can light another match and start again. You have to choose something, you have to take action, and sometimes that action that “love” will take courage. Have you got it? Time stands still in those precious moments that look to us just like “ordinary life”.

YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so): If you are a trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only. Imagine if what would happen to our Institute if you took three years to finish your course and you could still come to classes free for the entire course. We do our fee calculation based on 12 months of free yoga classes. Your training fees cover you for a year, after that we ask you to pay $10 per class. Also, just signing up and not sending in any modules means you are not really a trainee yoga teacher, and unless we receive regular communication (even if it isn’t modules), at a certain point we will deem that you have disconnected from us, and we will disconnect from you. And, coming to class with no intention of completing the course just to get the cheaper, easier student insurance, and free classes isn’t exactly living the yamas! Sooner or later we will call your bluff. I have found if you paddle your boat it is easier to maintain the illusion of control, but I tell you it is so much more fun if you pull the oars in and just let the river take you where it will….

BIG BIG DRAWINGS… I have started drawing/painting again. I am almost finished a black and white extremely detailed drawing of a piece of jewellery inspired by the work of Kate Durham. I will put a picture on the blog if you would like to go there and have a look. I am planning a BIG drawing of a cake, yes a cake… very ornate, very Indian – complete with elephants. I do have a couple of commissions, so there is a lot on the plate, and I will be able to raise heaps for scholarships and the missions which is where all my painting income goes…

Yes, I wrote this, so you can have it tattooed on your back or whatever. I wrote it in response to some of my students who have gone or are going through AA and NA, but had a hard time with the concept of God. I asked them if they liked it, they gave it the thumbs up, and one especially bright guy changed two words. It made a big difference (we can always learn and change).

*RESTORATIVE is a beautiful, gentle yoga which is done using lots of props and lots of time. No balancing, no headstands, nothing but gentle stretches and rests. HYPNOTHERAPY:
As you know I am trained hypnotherapist, registered with both the Australian and American AHA. My specialty is past life regression, and I do get asked a lot to help with quitting smoking. This is not magical, and takes more than one go.

The teacher for this therapy I had in the States charges $3,000.00 for just one of her famous Stop Smoking sessions. She is very successful with a 98% success rate. I guess if you have paid $3,000 you have a real motive for quitting. It would be hard to go back on that – think of what the better half would say! Maybe I should charge $1,000. When you stop you will be saving heaps more than that! GOOD MORNING PRECIOUS ONES Honouring the Universe – The philosophy of The Australasian Yoga Institute…. Dedicated to a tradition of excellence in teaching for more than 40 years, The Australasian Yoga Institute offers yoga teachers comprehensive and systematic training in classical yoga. We teach yoga techniques for body, breath, mind and spirit in 200hr and 500hr certification programs. Our programs include training in meditation, asana.
ABOUT THE ANGELS For the past 10 years I have been painting Angels (now I am into the 1,000 “OM” PROJECT), and in the course of the Angel Project I got to research a whole lot about Angels. What about “cherubs”? They are Angels. We use the word “Cherub” when we are talking about “cute” but historically cherubs were not cute. In the Bible Cherubs were powerful. It was Cherubs which stood at the gates of the Garden of Eden, and guarded it with flaming swords. Certainly not “cute”. It was the Cherubs which prevented us from having the experience of Paradise. A couple of thousand years on and we hear about cherubs in the Moses story. He is told to build gold statues of cherubs with outstretched wings guarding and enfolding a Mercy Seat. Roll the clock forward to today. The Cherubs represent two polar opposites which belong together in one continuum of experience. Two opposites brought together, an entry way to the Garden of Paradise. The Cherubim could represent a man and a woman, mind and heart, truth and love or any other duality. The pattern is also here in the human body. The two halves of the brain for instance, or yin and yang. Imagine that the two cherubim are the spiritual potential, the child (us) are in the Mercy Seat. The fathers and mothers are the “conductors” for the spiritual potential that brought them together and is then pouring into their child. They bring The Creator to the child.. As it says in the Bible “When two or more are brought together in my name, I am there…” There is also great justice in the thought that if a person is not open to this, and they don’t tune themselves to it, they will not experience it. Try it. Sit on the Mercy Seat. Receive the forgiveness and the connection of the Creator, and from everyone who is performing the function of the Cherubim on earth. Overcome your own “spiritual amnesia” and invite everyone you are connected to do the same. Seek out the experience of the love that happens when two polarities are brought together in the presence of the Creator (higher love) and avoid the opportunities that are in human life today to play the victim. Have you got it? Time stands still in those precious moments that look to us just like “ordinary life”.
ETERNITY
My Prayer “ETERNITY” written for my students has been noticed by Colin Clements, Editor of The Australian Yoga Life magazine, and they are going to feature it. “Thank you” to my students who encouraged me to write this prayer – it is touching hearts.

Jahne’s classes are designed around her 50 years of teaching experience. People say “can we have…yoga, or ……..…yoga tonite”. The answer Jahne always gives is “I don’t know, all depends who is there, and what is needed”. Friends, Yoga is not a recipe that is repeated the same way every time in every class. That would be mindless. If you want repetition don’t go to Jahne’s class. There is a thread running through the class. But it is not EXACTLY the same. If it was the same each week, you could just check your mind at the door. The shelf is for shoes, not for minds.

REGISTRATION AND INSURANCE HAVE BEEN UNCOUPLED. YOU CAN BUY THEM SEPARATELY. DEARER, BUT IT SEEMS THAT IS WHAT YOU WANT. WE AIM TO PLEASE.
YOUR TEACHER TRAINING YEAR (or so): If you are a trainee Yoga Teacher who has been working on the course for more than a year please understand that your course fee only gives you FREE classes with me for your first training year – the first 12 months only. Imagine if what would happen to our Institute if you took three years to finish your course and you could still come to classes free for the entire course. We do our fee calculation based on 12 months of free yoga classes. Your training fees cover you for a year, after that we ask you to pay $10 per class.

Also, just signing up and not sending in any modules means you are not really a trainee yoga teacher, and unless we receive regular communication (even if it isn’t modules), at a certain point we will deem that you have disconnected from us, and we will disconnect from you. And, coming to class with no intention of completing the course just to get the cheaper, easier student insurance, and free classes isn’t exactly living the yamas! Sooner or later we will call your bluff. I have found if you paddle your boat it is easier to maintain the illusion of control, but I tell you it is so much more fun if you pull the oars in and just let the river take you where it will….
VIDEOS: THEY ARE NOT OPTIONAL – THEY ARE NECESSARY! Only $275 per annum. Please look down the list of the videos before you try to do stick drawings, or organise your journal. I have shown you what I recommend.. All you have to do is download. I even did a video on ‘The Gita. Good feedback thus far – thank you. Please. I have just finished some miniatures for the “1000 OM” Project. I will put them on the site when I have got them totally ready for you to buy. The first will be appearing on the poem above.
AND A RECIPE I have had a great time in the garden. Berries, apples, plums, vegetables and herbs. There has been a fantastic harvest this year.

PESTO: I don’t like recipes (or knitting patterns) I just start with a base of something I have lots of – for instance mint, basil or celery and use that as the main flavour, pop it in the blender with olive oil, grated cheese, pepper, salt, chilli and a squeeze of lime. I add sesame seeds and crushed nuts at the end. I test as I go to get the right blend, and wing it, as every day different things happen in the garden. Easy peasy.
YIN YOGA/ANATOMY/MEDITATION DVD’s – all with Paul Grilley Just got a new shipment. They are the best and will form the backbone of your yoga references. As I have told you before when I bought mine they cost $100 or so each. I thought that this was a good investment. I think half that is a steal! JAHNE’S MENTORING SESSIONS …. Because Jahne has been teaching yoga teachers for more than 40 years, and running a business the Buddhist way for much longer than that (and successfully) she is often asked for advice. Asking course questions is free. This does not mean IDLE Yoga questions “just because you want to know” – She could spend her whole day answering those and getting no-where, in spite of the fact you may think your life will not end if they are not answered.
REGARDING DEBBIE – If you want to speak to Debbie about any aspect of the courses – she has done them, please remember that she only comes in on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On those days she is available on Ph: 0354 273 518. I am always here, and available preferably on email or text because I teach and am not always at my desk. Don’t hesitate to email me and I will answer your email or text as soon as I can..
THE LAST WORD: I try to imagine life without being able to speak to God, but none of the days without that special energy have the same laughter, or opportunities…..
