Blog Student News Trainees/Teacher News

Good morning Yogis,

The rain has arrived.  On Monday my singing bowls predicted rain (they sound so different when rain is on the way).  I looked out of the window – the ski was blue, the weather warm, no thought of rain, but on Monday night it rained and Tuesday quite a lot heavier.  The shire was planning a back-burn, but that will have to be postponed of course.  I was planning to pick hops, that also has been postponed – a lovely crop this year, best to pick when they are dry.

I have started to RECORD the zoom meetings (which MAY include the tarot meetings), primarily because we have students away with covid, students who have to travel to work and can’t get back in time, and family contingencies…  I won’t record if no-one turns up, but as long as I have a student I will have a class and record it for those who for whatever reason can’t be there.

On Tuesday at 7.30 we have a herbal workshop.  This is an information-rich hour or so (depending on topic and time) and last night we discussed all things Covid and Covid Vax side-effects relative to Bach and to herbs.  I am recording this as I said, so, if you are interested in herbs, please join us, even if you can’t come to the meetings, you will be able to access the recordings when you have the time.

SCHEDULE
YOGA STUDIO: Monday 1pm, Wednesday Restorative 5.30 and Friday 5.30 Hatha
ZOOM: Monday 6.30 Gita, Tuesday 7.30 Herbal Workshop and Friday 6.45 Tarot.
All of these will be recorded – if you are a subscriber to the classes I will forward a link to you so you can watch later.

THE FRIDAY TAROT CLASS FROM THIS WEEK WILL BE FREE (OR THE END OF YOUR CURENT PAYMENT MONTH) AS THEY WERE DURING COVID – STUDENTS ARE HURTING AND TAROT CAN HELP.

EASY (NO-COOK) ROSEHIP JAM
I am sure you are familiar with rosehip jelly and rosehip syrup.  They both in some way require heat, and Vitamin C is destroyed in heat, so even though these two products can taste citrussy, they have lost much of the VitC content.  There is a solution – don’t cook them or heat them.  How to do this

Definitely no cooking needed, although it is a very fiddly thing to do.  You can find rosehips on your walks I am sure, and there is the possibility you may be able to buy de-seeded rosehips.  I do the de-seeding whilst I am watching the TV of an evening.  It seems to defeat the purpose to buy them deseeded, and discard the rosehips that I grow, or find out foraging!  Besides that, I like the paste made from fresh rosehips, rather than powder.

*De-seed the RosehipsGrind the rosehips to a fine paste (if you buy them, they will be dry, so grind to a powder), and give them a final wash and brush to make sure no fine hairs remain.  Whichever way you do it (paste or powder) place them in a bowl.  I sometimes add some mandarin peel I have dried and ground to powder.

*Add apple cider or apple juice to the powder/paste and mix to a jam consistency.  Let the jam sit for 3-5 minutes then add more fluid as needed to achieve the thickness of a jam or jelly.  If it not sweet enough for you, add honey, vanilla, ginger or cinnamon. Spread on crackers, cookies or ice cream.  The jam will keep in the fridge for about 2 weeks.

Dear Yogis,

I don’t know what you did with your weekend, however, I am getting used to actually having one.  Thursday was my one day off but has disappeared in that regard – I do “out of the office” things that day,  but I am still working.  On the weekends I don’t stay in bed, but I spend it mostly doing garden and herb things.  There is lots to do in the garden, and trimmings from pruning raspberry and lavender bushes and trailing vines, can be dried and saved for teas in the winter.  The apples I collected have now been dried, rose hips, and hops are next.

Thanks to my weekend, I am certainly ahead with my herbs.

A special tea, just for you may require you to email me and I can make up something special.
If you want HERBAL Wedding or party favours, email me and we can make up something special just for you.

These are shipped in cotton hand tied balls with hand written tags, to keep shipping and waste low, but we don’t recommend storing them like that. I suggest popping them just as they come,  in a glass jar out of direct sunlight. If you buy herb teas in the Supermarket and sometimes the chemist (with a fancy box), when you actually unpack the tea, you may find that it is black tea with herbs added.   My teas are herbs, no black tea, unless black tea is the herb or part of the recipe. This is an entirely natural product, which doesn’t mean it’s safe for everyone, or that it won’t interact with medication. People are all different and we recommend doing your own research and speaking to a health professional.

ROMANCE.
Your creative gift, whatever it is is the most special part of you, and it is that gift which will keep you in a happy place no matter what is happening in the world. You might not think of your creative self in terms of romance, however, if you nourish that part of yourself it is a wonderful romance you can have that no-one can take away from you.

Today, with all that is happening in the world, You have to be very strong to keep yourself within that circle of romance and positivity.  It is easy at this time to devolve into anxiety – don’t go there.    I love the idea that my herb teas empower people – putting them together is like being an artist or a musician, not just physically healing.  My hope is that my teas take you to a special place of love and healing.  I think about them, grow them, pick, dry and package with you in mind.  How are you “romancing’ yourself?

MY PROJECT FOR TODAY:
…..in between clients visits to have the ION-KI cleanse, yoga, and tonite the Teacher Training (we are actually having FUN with the Gita this our third reading!), is to make a heap of little tea bags for the herbs.  For me it is all part of  of healing.  If I can add something to each part of the process it makes me feel I am doing the best that I can for you.  I can even make multiples of the hand lettered herb bags for WEDDING/Birthday/Anniversary place tags.  I didn’t think of this but have been asked, so yes.  I can do this.

SEE YOU ON THE MAT (NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE)
NAMASTE – JAHNE

Hello Yogis,

Hello Friday.  Today is the day of our monthly yoga luncheon and I am so looking forward to it.  We always have a luscious time. The Hotel looks forward to us, and the young waiters always make a fuss.  If you are worried about Covid – don’t! They take every care.  You have more chance of getting Covid at Coles I think.

YOGA STUDIO:  Monday 1pm, Wednesday 5.30 and Friday 5.30
ZOOM:  Monday 6.30 Gita teacher Training, Tuesday 7.30 Herbal Workshop, Friday 6.45 Tarot

THE GARDEN AND THE ART..

First the garden which is looking just wonderful, and I am getting to grips with it.   I don’t know what i was doing a few years ago, but Covid has allowed me to properly apportion my time so that i can take care of the garden.  I do need help from time to time on the “heavy lifting”, but I am doing most o

PLUS, I have ordered a Kenyan top bar bee hive.   This is going to be quite an experiment and i am looking forward to it.  I hope to hold information days as so few people are doing this style of hive.  In America the Kenyan and the Warre hives and equipment are easy to find.  Not so here.

THE ART.
I am working on some collages.  They make me happy.  The work will have an outing soon, so, patience, patience.  The subject matter is anatomy and yoga.  You will love them.  There will be prints as well as originals as usual.

Have a lovely week.

SEE YOU ON THE MAT.
